Villa: Guzan, Bacuna, Amavi, Richards, Clark, Gueye, Westwood, Sanchez, Gabb, Gestede, Grealish
subs: Bunn, Baker, Sinclair, Veretout, Ayew, Traore, Hutton
-
Apart from Agbonlahor, I quite like that lineup.

-
No Gil is a bit of a shame but a much improved front three today. Sanchez starting is great news.
-
So Gil hasn't made it, which is a shame. Very physical team, so perhaps unsurprising to see Veretout miss out this time as he's looked slightly short of fitness so far.
-
Hmmm, I don't like the look of that team at all. What on earth has Gabby got to do to be dropped, he's been by far the worst performer up front, yet we drop Ayew instead.
-
Palace: McCarthy; Ward, Delaney, Dann, Souaré; McArthur, Cabaye, Zaha, Puncheon, Sako; Murray.
Subs: Bamford, Hennessey, Lee Chung-yong, Jedinak, Gayle, Mutch
-
..and a midfield of Westwood and Sanchez is going to be both weak and uncreative. 2-0 Palace.
-
Just noticed Veretout on the bench, too. That's a shame, I thought he has looked quite promising. He could certainly use the time on the pitch.
Still, Sanchez and Gana should keep things pretty solid on the middle.
-

I'll be blown over the day I don't see his name in the starting line up. In fact I might have one of these moments if I see Gabby's name on the bench

?
Well, where's Gueye playing?
-
Best line up we've had so far IMO nice and solid in the middle with grealish giving us that creativity we have lacked. 3-1 villa
-
No, no, no. Too defensive. Westwood, Sanchez AND Gana?!?! Gabby?!?! Play to win FFS. We're at Crystal Palace, not Man City!!!
Hopefully I'll be proved wrong though.
-

Well, where's Gueye playing?
Gueye will improve things, but it's a bit much to expect him to carry the midfield by himself. I don't rate Westwood and Sanchez at all.

Gabby to score today, which will once again cement his place for the next 15 goalless Agnonlahor games

And no doubt answer his critics. Until he scores again in 4 months time.
-
Would have preferred to see Sinclair in for Gabby, but otherwise happy with that line-up, and as others have said, how badly does Gabby have to play before he's dropped. I still maintain he's got a secret dossier containing details of some past indiscretion by Sherwood.

What a pair of panto dames.
Based on the first two games I'd have Gabby ahead of both Ayew and N'Zogbia Sinclair.
-
I think it's obvious now that Gabby is guaranteed to start so we better get used to it even if it is difficult to understand.
-
Gabby is this seasons Cleverley, as regards to being completely ineffectual, yet starting each match. I hope he rams my negativity back down my throat like Cleverley did.
No Bolaisie(sp?) for them is a good thing.
2-1 Villa. Pardew to be a twat.
-
Doesn't look too bad a team to me. If Gabby has a role in the side it is in one of the wider positions, he is no leader of the line. The midfield three is solid enough and shouldn't be as short of puff as we have been.
Gestede looked a bit of a clueless lump against ManU
It probably won't be all that exciting to watch but we should come away with something.
-

Don't you have any cricket to watch?
-
I don't mind having Gabby alongside someone like Rudy, who can hopefully win headers for him to run onto, provided Gabby is awake. Still not convinced about Dopey Sanchez.
-

Isn't that like saying Pardew to breathe?
-
2-1 Villa. Pardew to be a twat.
Pardew being a twat is his default start position. He brings a new definition to the word 'smug'. Hopefully he'll headbutt one of our players or verbally abuse Sherwood and get another stadium ban so we don't have to see his punchable mug for a few weeks
-
Still not convinced about Dopey Sanchez.
Every time Sanchez has come on we've looked a better team. Pairing him up alongside Westwood is questionable, we really need somebody to do what Delph was good at and charge up field with the ball. Neither seem to be capable of that, maybe today's the day Gana gets more freedom to express himself.
-
Don't think Ayew, Veretout and Sinclair can have too many complaints about sitting this one out. No hiding place for Gabby now with so many choices on the bench and Gil and Kozak in the stand, he needs to start delivering so wouldn't be surprised to see him do well today.
Gestede and Sanchez will ensure we won't be getting bullied today anyway. Not sure re the balance of the midfield three, maybe Gueye will push a bit more forward. Still think we miss a left sided centre midfielder in the squad ala Barry or Delph.
This will be a good test today. I'd expect us to be ahead of Bournemouth and behind Man Utd. Palace are at our level and have some very good players in their side
-
442 diamond or persisting with the 433?
-
Is this going to be a diamond? Or will grealish be out wide do we think?
-
Pleased to see Sanchez and Grealish in there
Would have probably been my team of choice had Sinclair got the nod over Gabby
I think Sanchez will win over many doubters this season, he's a very good ball winner and his passing game is underrated
-
i think Sinclair is unlucky not to start, they have a lack of firepower, we coulld get something here
-
Agree with dropping of Ayew
Dropping Sinclair is a bit daft though .
-

Haha. Indeed!
-
I'm hoping for the diamond with Gabby playing off Gestede. Theres no natural width in that team especially as Gabby can't cross a ball and Grealish is best utilised more centrally creating passing movements and being the link to Westwood and Gueye.
-
Also we've got a relatively strong looking bench for the first time in ages with many attacking options...
Sinclair, Veretout, Ayew, Traore
-
Is this going to be a diamond? Or will grealish be out wide do we think?
Hopefully a diamond. We're still asking for a lot from our full-backs, however we set up.
-
A lot stronger squad from last season, looking at that. To answer an earlier question, I suspect Gabby will need to retire in order not to make the team. As others have predicted though, today might be his good game in ten.
-

Hopefully a diamond. We're still asking for a lot from our full-backs, however we set up.
I'm a bit worried as they like to attack down the flanks. The midfield will all have to work hard.
-
At least we have Jack there for some decent corners/free kicks
-

Hasn't Sanchez been coming on for a tiring Veretout, who isn't yet up to speed in England? Sanchez seems to specialise in giving the ball away in critical areas. He should be issued with a vial of smelling salts to keep him alert and aware throughout games.
-

Sinclair, Veretout, Ayew, Traore
Would be nice to see him get on, but I think he's there more to soak in the PL matchday experience. Could be we'll see him sooner than some of us thought. Gets a good run out on Tuesday, then who knows....
-
I reckon Sanchez will have a good season.
Whilst his name is being mentioned, how on earth did his goal against Manchester City make our Goal of the Season shortlist last season?
-
No Bolaisie(sp?) for them is a good thing.
So is no Jedinak, who I hate for personal reasons - every pack of Panini Brazil 2014 stickers I bought had at least one Jedinak in it.
-
How many times do we have to see a player from a foreign league struggle in their first season in the prem before people will start cutting them some slack?
Sanchez was ropey last season. He'll be good this one because he's a quality footballer. Come at me bro.
-
I reckon Sanchez will have a good season.
Whilst his name is being mentioned, how on earth did his goal against Manchester City make our Goal of the Season shortlist last season?
Because there was only a few to pick from? The term "shortlist" was invented specifically to describe our goal tally last season.

Agreed, very few imports start off superbly. It tends to help I think if you're a bit like Gueye, with a great engine and naturally combative because those are two essential ingredients to playing in this league.
-
Sounds like Jack is playing centrally with Gabby off Gestede.
-
anyone PM me a stream please
-
Apparently it's Jestede not Gestede
-
We've started well here. Rudy getting involved early on.
-
Bit agricultural by Amavi
-
Jack looks a yard short of match fitness. Sort of where the others were 2 weeks ago which is not unexpected.
Did Zaha try a dive and then try and abort it in one movement then?
-
Apparently it's Jestede not Gestede
Well he's going to have to change it then it doesn't fit any of the songs we've made up,
-
Sloppy passing from us.
-
Well, Gabby should definitely have scored that.
-
Get off the field Gabby, Christ what kind of strikers finish is that?
-
Shit. Any 1 on 1 between Gabby and the keeper and I'd back the keeper every time
-
Gabby. If only he could think / play football he'd be great.
-
Pathetic from Gabby.
-
Gabby misses an easy chance.
-
Shocker. Gabby misses.
-
Anybody else there, we go 0-1 up.......smh
-
Should have been 1-0 Villa...did well to get the chance but yet another 1v1 fail from Gabby.
-
And a shit cross there, too.
-
Get off the field Gabby, Christ what kind of strikers finish is that?
Bambi on ice, woeful technique
strange kind of formation we seem to be playing. Gabby and Gestede up top with Grealish and Westwood supporting.
-
Gabby of old would have buried that
-
Should have scored.
-
Early days of course but I think Gana looks really promising.
-
Oh Gabby, why do we persist?
-
How bad do you have to be before youre dropped. A repeat of the Bournemouth miss
-
Gabby's attempted cross just after might have been worse than his shot
-
Gabby kicks the ball like he's learning how to kick the ball.
-
Ward attempts to break Jack's legs
-
Sorry but that Ward guy is lucky to be on. That tackle was wildly out of control.
-
Like the way Amavi can turn defence to attck so quickly.
-
Apparently it's Jestede not Gestede
....but, but, but is it jess-ted, or jess-ted-dee, or jess-ted-day, or jess-teed? Are we still saying "Rudy"?
-
La Roca doing very well.
Always did like Sanchez.
-
quality effort from Sanchez there, great feet
We have started well all over the pitch
-
Well done Carlos!
-
Listening to Radio London and it sounds like we're doing really well. Grealish, Amavi and Gestede sound promising. That said, one off the line for Palace.
-
Carlos is looking very good today.
-
Jack getting into it now - a few nice touches.
-
Carlos is looking very good today.
and Jack
-
Sanchez will be a player of the year contender this year #predictions #THEROCKhascomeback..tovilla
-
Gabby bounding round the pitch like a mastiff in a blindfold.
-
Gabby is really pressing his luck.
-
Whisper it quietly, but a centre forward or real quality and we could be a bloody decent team this season.
-
Palace defenders backing off Grealish so much really makes me smile.
-
Shot! Before halt time, too. We're on fire.
-
Decent attempt but never really looked like scoring
-
Whisper it quietly, but a centre forward or real quality and we could be a bloody decent team this season.
Yes. For all our nice buildup play so far, I still get the feeling no one quite knows what to do in the box.
-
And that's the end of the First Quarter
-
Ah, drinks are served.
-
Drinks break. Still can't believe that weak as piss effort from Gabby.
-
new timeout rule in the BPL?
-
Drinks break??? What the hell?
-
Whisper it quietly, but a centre forward or real quality and we could be a bloody decent team this season.
Anyone but Gabby would thrive.
-
Agree we've looked decent so far, not quite working in the final third though.
-
Drinks break, eh? Don't mind if I do!
*gets beer from fridge*
-
Drinks all round mines a pint
-
Grealish has phenomenal first touch. We finally have players that look like they can play football. I don't think we'll hit our straps for a good few games yet but there is hope at last.
-
Drinks break??? What the hell?
Midway through the second half they stop for a cucumber sandwich.
-
Whisper it quietly, but a centre forward or real quality and we could be a bloody decent team this season.
Trouble is Gabby is an automatic starter so who is dropped for the new striker?
-
Drinks break??? What the hell?
New rule apparently if the temperature goes above 30 degrees. The World Cup in Qatar will be one long drinks break
-
Bournemouth two up at West Ham.
-
Bournemouth 2 up at West Ham, who I still think could find it difficult this season. Norwich back level with Stoke. It looks like it will be as tight this season as last.
-
Cabeye has had a shocking first 30 mins
-
Cabeye has had a shocking first 30 mins
It's true. I was afraid to post it though, in case of jinxing it.
-
Palace don't like the ball into big Rudy at all.
-
Cabeye has had a shocking first 30 mins
It's true. I was afraid to post it though, in case of jinxing it.
Oh no...
-
Oooooh Gabby, Gabby, Gabby...tut tut tut.
-
fuck that, gabby off
-
Oh Gabby.
-
Get Gabby off at half time. He's not a footballer any more.
-
Fuck me. Agbonlahor is fucking rubbish.
-
Fuck me Gabby is shit.
-
Wow. Wow Gabby. With Sinclair, Ayew, Gil and now Traore waiting for a chance, I can't see Gabby lasting long in this team.
-
Oh Gabby........I don't know wherever to laugh or cry
-
Gabby fucks up another move. Great run and pass by Jack and Gabby fucks it up. Why is he on the pitch?
-
Fucking hell Gabby again
-
Fucking useless cnut
-
Pathetic. Get him off.
-
What happened?
-
Do they have to show slow motion replays of Gabby's wobbling gut?
He's been useless today. Shocking touch, lacking pace and giving away silly fouls.
-
Srsly fuck off Gabby
-
And now he gives away a dangerous free-kick.
-
Now he gives a free kick away needlessly in a dangerous position
-
Gabby is detrimental to us now.
-
Missed another sitter?
-
Surely Sherwood has to get Gabby off the pitch? He's a liability!
-
Gabby will probably go and score the winner now.
Appalling from him so far.
-
Missed another sitter?
Through in the inside-left channel, great chance to set up a tap-in for Gestede, and he falls over the ball like a dyspraxic deer.
-
Ayew for Gabby straight swap at HT.
-
Sherwood is a bold manager. He'll make the change at half time
-
See the thing is with this fucking plonker that by playing him past his sell by date he's going to start getting the wrath of the fans and instead of being loved for all his former derby winners he will end up being disliked for being fucking crap at football now.
Ayew on at half time please. If he isn't as good as Gabby then he shouldn't have been signed because this guy is shit now.
-
Gabby extremely shit so far, lets all sing his name ::)
-
Anyone for Gabby would be an improvement!
-
I would go Ayew for Gabby too. With Jack in supply he might have some joy.
-
He's not moving either, he's just standing around looking lost.
-
What happened?
Complete miskick when trying to play a simple ball to Gestede after being played in to the box by Jack.
-
Grealish there, waiting for Gabby to move his fat, lazy arse, had to pass back.
-
Westwood poor again from set pieces.
-
it's such a shame because Gabby still has pace but the potential he had to be a good PL striker has clearly not been taken advantage of. We have so much creativity in this team and little or no movement up front. And the other thing is we need some of these midfielders to get into the box and join the attack.
-
Another floaty corner straight to the keeper by Westwood. Why doesn't Jack take the corners?
-
two crap corners from Westwood, both straight into the keepers hands.
Bacuna has been poor so far
-
Bacuna and Gabby off at HT for anybody else and Sinclair.
-
I'd get Sinclair on for Gabby. Hell I'd love to see us go wild and put Troare on.
-
I'm more worried about Bacuna than Gabby at the moment. He's getting skinned down that right flank.
-
Those fucking corners. I await the day this team does not contain either Westwood or Gabby. Westwood is completely run of the mill. Gabby is just crap.
Decent game overall, though.Lovely to see Grealish back. Looks fantastic
-
When Veretout is up to speed I'd like to see him replace Westwood.
-
Westwood can't kick a dead ball; Gabby can't kick a football.
-
Grealish is such a classy player and he only looks like he's at 70% today. If Gabby wasn't so poor we'd have had more joy.
-
Love watching Grealish play. He is really excellent.
-
When Veretout is up to speed I'd like to see him replace Westwood.
Those fucking corners. I await the day this team does not contain either Westwood or Gabby. Westwood is completely run of the mill. Gabby is just crap.
So am I the only one who thinks Westwood's been our best player so far?
-
Jack's having a really good game.
-
You forget just how bloody talented Jack is while he is out. For all the players we have signed, he is potentially better than all of them. Still want him to "buy a ticket" as Sherwood put it yesterday. Needs to shoot from time to time!
-
Gestede finding it tough going against Palace's physical defence.
-
Westwood can't kick a dead ball; Gabby can't kick a football.
I would wager that Gabby could win a pie eating contest though.
-
Some sweaty pits in the crowd today I wager
-
We're missing Benteke badly.
-
When Veretout is up to speed I'd like to see him replace Westwood.
Me too, mate. Hopefully that's the case.
-

In general play, Westwood, Sanchez, Grealish and Gana have all been excellent Monty. Westwood has looked great given more freedom.
-
Gabby off at half time, having a mare. Everyone else ok, Sanchez MOM so far
-
We've got way better balance this week and we look really promising but we need to take our chances. A lot of potential when you look at the bench too. Don't fancy us getting a clean sheet though
-
Westwood can't kick a dead ball; Gabby can't kick a football.
I would wager that Gabby could win a pie eating contest though.
In theory, but the registration process might prove too taxing.
-
This is going to be Carlos Sanchez year. Bringing his Columbia form to the party.
-
Gabby's strolling around in a dream like he's mentally contemplating which chip shop he'll visit on his way home.
-
Cabaye trying to get Jack booked
-
Yeah, Sanchez and Gana looks like a good solid base. I'm not convinced about Westwood; he's been decent today, but it will be interesting to see if Veretout can offer more.
-
I still think Bacuna is the weak link at the back.
-
Guzan's kicking not getting any better
-
That girl in the crowd then ;)
-
Gabby's strolling around in a dream like he's mentally contemplating which chip shop he'll visit on his way home.
Don't think he's won a single ball played off by Gestede. He just doesn't get it.
-
Love watching Grealish play. He is really excellent.
He makes it look like he's playing a different game, as I've said before, it's the first sign of a genuinely great player, if he wants it enough he's going to be just that.
-
When Veretout is up to speed I'd like to see him replace Westwood.
Those fucking corners. I await the day this team does not contain either Westwood or Gabby. Westwood is completely run of the mill. Gabby is just crap.

Excellent? Gana? It's amazing how we all see games differently, isn't it. I do like Gana, though. I think he could be a very good player for us.
-
Not a bad half. Sanchez looking the part at last, Jack playing well, but the whole team carrying Gabby like an old lady carting home the weekly shop.
At the moment we're confined to one tactic going forward: cross it to Gestede. Replace Gabby and we might see something fresh.
-
I think Gana has been our best player. Very good performance indeed so far.
-
I think we look the better team
-
Pleasantly surprised just how comfortable we look at times but we always look like we have a bit of sloppy play not far away. That and obviously we need to do better up front. At least with Jack back in it feels like we can create chances.
-

Those fucking corners. I await the day this team does not contain either Westwood or Gabby. Westwood is completely run of the mill. Gabby is just crap.
So am I the only one who thinks Westwood's been our best player so far?
Maybe not our best, but I like Westwood. He's a reassuring presence in midfield, mops up and doesn't waste possession often.
-

hate the long punt up to Rudy. With jack in the team we should be offering more. Get Jack on the ball and this game is there for the taking
-
We've got way better balance this week and we look really promising but we need to take our chances. A lot of potential when you look at the bench too. Don't fancy us getting a clean sheet though
I dunno I thought the defence has been solid. What has Guzan had to do apart from swallow a ball kicked straight down his throat?
-
I think we've been good so far with the midfield in particular being excellent. Gabby letting everyone down.
-
If Gabby could actually kick a ball then we might be in front. Decent and we have controlled for long spells.
-
The midfield 3 look okay. Westwood has done okay, but his set piece delivery has been poor. Sanchez has looked very classy and Gana looks the part.
Grealish is quality.
Gabby is piss poor today, even by his standards.
Gestede hasn't had a decent ball to attack yet. High hanging balls aren't good as Palace aren't a defence that will easily be bullied.
Amavi is good.
Bacuna hasn't been very good.
Second half I'd like to see Sinclair coming on for Gabby. Still think it's a bit early for Ayew.
-
This game is there for the taking if he makes the change...any one of Sinclair, Ayew or Traore on for Gabby would be an improvement.
Cabaye looks knackered and they're not carrying a threat at the moment.
-

Gabby off, Ayew on at half time for me. Then if it's still not working take Gestede off (because it forces us to keep the ball down) and give Adama half an hour.
Just seen the 1on1 Gabby missed, that's truly dire, I doubt we'll see a worse miss in the league this weekend.
-
I also like Westwood but would prefer Grealish to be on corner duty.
What's everyone talking about Cabaye like he is the second coming? He's a good, 30 year old footballer, not world class.
We were the better team there. I reckon we'll get the winner in this one.
-
I think we look the better team
No doubt about it. I've barely noticed Palace this half. I was here supporting a Palace fan client v Arsenal last Sunday and they were much better then.
-
We have been the better side by some way.
Still worried where our goals are coming from, though.
-
Started well, then both faded away.
Get Gabby off. He's clearly not good enough. Sinclair or Ayew.
-
That girl in the crowd then ;)
those white pants look the part on her bass alright :D
heat obviously playing a factor, both midfields have lots of time on the ball.
Palace looking to isolate Bacuna but any joy they have had have come down to Bacuna's mistakes rather than any good play
Ward is a red card waiting to happen, dont think he will be back out after half time
We should be ahead really, Gabby butchered a 1 on 1 and then his effort at that cross ;D
Grealish absolute quality and Sanchez bossing midfield
Sinclair for Gabby at the break
Not sure what changes we will make if Sanchez or Gueye run out of legs, maybe Veretout playing a bit deeper
-
Grealish looks like he could fit in really well in Arsenals team. He can pass, control and move. If only the others in our team could do it as well as him!
-
Westwood's set pieces have been bad, but apart from that he hasn't given the ball away at all, and he's hit a couple of decent crosses. So far a decent performance from a slightly more advanced position.
Sanchez has been very good.
-
Ayew on for Gabby for me.
Then if we've reached 65 minutes and still haven't scored then get Adama on for Gestede and smash 'em.
-
Gana and Suarez is very good base. Westwood not so sure. Maybe Gil for westwood at around the 70th min to look for the winner.
Ayew for Gabby.
-
Gabby is a joke, and needs to get on the bench and stay there. Traore, Ayew, Sinclair and Gil. All better. Why are we wasiting a position on him?
Westy has looked good further forward, Sanchez and Gana are dominating the midfield so far. Grealish and Amavi both look a class apart on the ball.
-
Oh, for a goal threat from midfield. Sinclair for Gabby, overload our left side with him, Jack and Amavi, we couldn't half make some space on the edge of their box.
-
We have been the better team by far, but always look capable of giving a gal away. Grealish looks absolute class, Sanchez looks the player he really is but we still have problems up top.
Agbonlahor should have buried that chance. We are clonking too many high balls for Gestede who is either getting nowhere near them or nodding them down for no one.
Agbon off either Sinclair or Ayew on.
-
Gana and Suarez is very good base. Westwood not so sure. Maybe Gil for westwood at around the 70th min to look for the winner.
Ayew for Gabby.
Gil's not in the squad bud
but i agree Westwood has to be the player sacrificed if one comes off, also generally he'd the midfielder i'd sacrifice out of the three of them
very average for me
-
Gana and Suarez is very good base. Westwood not so sure. Maybe Gil for westwood at around the 70th min to look for the winner.
Ayew for Gabby.
That's one hell of an auto-correct!
-
Gabby will start the second half. Sherwood will not risk the wrath of the Villa supporters by taking him off!
-
Shit, Gabby is still on.
-
They make two changes, we make......................none
-
Another crap kick from Brad nearly costs us
-
Shit, Gabby is still on.
Give it ten minutes, tops, unless he does something astounding.
-
Need to wake up. We've got Gabbyitis.
-
Gana and Suarez is very good base. Westwood not so sure. Maybe Gil for westwood at around the 70th min to look for the winner.
Ayew for Gabby.
That's one hell of an auto-correct!
Got a bit of bite in that midfield.
They have rocked us with the changes
-
He must have told Gabby you've got 10 mins to fight for your place
-
Is Sherwood actually watching the game, i'm not so sure.
-
Is Sherwood actually watching the game, i'm not so sure.
He will counter that Gabby has got in 2-3 times purely due to his pace, and that has made them sit deeper and give Jack more time on the ball.
-
Cabeye cynical as you like through Grealish.
-
Cabaye rightly gets booked and still tries to get Jack booked. French cnut
-
agbonlahor is fucking awful
-
Clark's aimless hoofs really need to stop
every game
-
Think one goal will win this for us. Palace haven't got much going forward.
-
2-2 at West Ham, woeful defending for both from Bournemouth.
-
We've got absolutely no ideas up front.
-
Gestede is a much more static forward than Benteke.
Poor free kick to concede here too.
-
Terrible stuff so far
-
Clark's aimless hoofs really need to stop
every game
They will when lescott joins next week
-
Momentum is going the wrong way.
-
That's pretty dim from Gestede.
-
Austin at £15m is starting to seem like a no brainer.
-
This team lacks goals
-
I don't know. I just can't decide if Bacuna is any good or not. I tend to err towards 'not', but then he does something quite good.
-
Austin at £15m is starting to seem like a no brainer.
Ayew + £7m may tempt them ?
-
Time for a change.
-
Don't blame jack for going it alone then.
-
This team lacks goals
No shit Sherlock.
-
There is such little movement in front of the midfield apart from Grealish. Traore and Ayew for Gabby and Gestede please.
-
Gestede should have scored
-
Austin at £15m is starting to seem like a no brainer.
I suspect we can make him look expensive at £5m
-
There is such little movement in front of the midfield apart from Grealish. Traore and Ayew for Gabby and Gestede please.
I'd be inclined to do the same. I mean, we just might as well. Because the current strike options are not working at all.
-
Fuck. Shit. Bolx.
-
Shit
-
Fucking deflection that looked a mile offsite. Fucking rediculous!
-
Bollocks.
-
How is that not offside then?
-
Phew!!! Long live offside rules!
-
Bollocks.
-
That was coming.
-
Fuck off.
-
We are so fucking unlucky at times. Ref changed his mind. Thank fuck for that! Right decision.
-
NO GOAL!!!!
-
Or maybe not.
-
Hahahahahahahaha ref changed his mind!!!!!!!
-
GET IT RIGHT.
-
Well done ref and lino....top decision
-
Goal disallowed!
-
good refereeing, we havent come out second half. Gabby needs to be taken off asap
-
Ha ha ha ha!
-
Wtf?
-
ace
-
The right decision, but caught a break really
-
We are looking terrible going forward.
-
Justice, well done lino.
-
We need to change things here. All them at the moment.
-
A wake-up call, I hope.
-
An escape.Come on lads, step this up.
-
Charlie Austin scores again
-
lol
-
Charlie Austin scores again..........
-
How has Gabby lasted an hour?
-
Charlie Austin scores again
He's 'at it'!
-
Can't wait to see Pardew's take on that!
-
Make the changes Tim...nothing up front and its coming straight back at us.
Ayew and Traore please.
-
This is where a manager earns his money. We need to slow down the tempo and we need to make a change.
-
Charlie Austin scores again
He's 'at it'!
Are Preston winning ;)
-
Austin would be a bloody godsend in this team at the moment.
-
I'll be quite disappointed if Sherwood doesn't change something at this point.
-
And this is where Lambert would always let a game drift too far away from us. Show us something Tim, we're losing it here.
-
We've gone really sloppy - make the changes Tim
-
Austin would be a bloody godsend in this team at the moment.
We need to bite the Bullet and sign him and pay the wages
-
Some of our players starting to lose it a bit here. Needs a change.
-
Nothing from the bench, no movement there. For Christ's sake, Tim, do something!
-
I'll be quite disappointed if Sherwood doesn't change something at this point.
Me too. We're sleepwalking towards a defeat at the moment.
-
That was close. Very good play by Ward for them, mind. He looks a good player.
-
We're asking to lose this game, in time honoured Villa fashion, by not addressing what's happening on the pitch. We need to give Palace something to worry about, instead of inviting them on into our box.
-
This is where we need a proper captain and leadership on the pitch.
-
Utterly shit so far this half
-
Need some legs on asap. Sinclair down the left to protect Amavi a bit might be an ideal. Gested for Ayew, and Traore for Gabby in a triple for me.
-
Maybe TS is just not making the change to 'push' Randy for the cash - proving a point
-
We look knackered...they'll be feeling it too so bring on Traore to relieve the pressure.
-
Very much a Lambert performance today
-
Traore coming on then....
-
Cometh the man, Cometh Traore the Beast.
-
Here comes Adama!
-
This is all a bit TSM I
We are here for a point aren't we
-
That was close. Very good play by Ward for them, mind. He looks a good player.
Married to one of my daughter's best friends. He used to go to school in Chichester
-
Traore! Go on mate!
-
They reckon it will be Sanchez - not for me!
-
Sanchez off? Eh?!
-
Traore on for Sanchez?!
-
Well, I asked for it and Sherwood is bringing Traore on! I better not complain if this goes horribly wrong!
-
Cone on villa ffs
-
Sanchez? Off? Gabby stays on? No compute.
-
About fucking time. But why Sanchez? Why is that roll of wet carpet Gabby still on the pitch?
-
Oh shit! Sanchez off?! In that case I will complain if it goes horribly wrong!
-
Well that's not a TSM move.
-
Positive change. But the right one?
-
Gabby stays on. He has definitely got compromising photos of someone stashed away somewhere.
-
The Adamanator!
Don't understand why it's sanchez who makes way..
-
Positive change. But the right one?
No.
-
I guess maybe there are still lingering concerns about Sanchez playing the full 90 at PL pace, especially on a hot day?
-
Mad change from Timmy for me. Wanted Traore on, but the midfield has been held together by Sanchez. I would have gone for Westwood over him on the way the game is playing.
-
Gabby is finished at this level.
-
Fuck. Shit. Bolx. x2
-
Free header
-
Gabby is finished at this level.
You say that...
-
Losing.
Fuck.
Scott fucking Dann. Bluenose bastard.
-
Bloody hell, that's that then I fear
-
It's just extraordinary that Agbonlahor is still on the pitch. I mean it beggars belief.
Oh fuck.
-
Positive change. But the right one?
No
-
Shit. Well they won't chalk that one off
-
Gabby stays on. He has definitely got compromising photos of someone stashed away somewhere.
It's the kind of performance someone puts in if they're trying to get sold.
Edit: oh, well, would you look at that.
-
We've asked for it, and asked for it, and now we've got it. Fucking hell's bells. Well done, Villa.
-
Last week he takes off one of the best players... Sinclair.
This week he takes off one of the best players... Sanchez.
-
That's been coming since the start of the second half. We needed a change earlier.
-
Weak as fuck from Clark.
-
Fucks sake.
-
fucking drinks break
-
That's that then.
-
Where's Traore playing, wide or central?
-
Gabby for Sinclair please. Get some width on the left too.
-
Here we go again.
Need Ayew on for Gabby. Now.
-
Gabby is finished at this level.
Correct
-
We'll score.
-
We all knew it would take time :( Worrying lack of chances again though....
-
We've been losing every fifty-fifty challenge for the last 20 minutes.
-
Shoulda been Gabby off. Not Sanchez. Mistake.
-
We simply cannot score without Benteke
-
Fucking rubbish, the second half we've been dominated and it's took him way too long to react. Rookie managerial decisions. Can we get that fat, gormless twat off as well.
-
awful second half from us so far. woeful change from Sherwood too, tactics tim strikes again
-
Now we look terrible.
Are we three at the back?
-
We're getting twatted and we deserve it.
-
The New Incarnation - see the last 5 years.
Soft losses to not very good teams
-
Haven't heard anything about Gestede, Grealish, Westwood, Gabby all half.
-
We need another midfielder on. Gabby off, Veretout on. regain that shape we had.
-
We still need a striker and a right-back.
-
I really can't believe the substitution I really can't. Such a strange choice. We are not wide open.
-
We all knew it would take time :( Worrying lack of chances again though....
We've replaced one of the leagues best Strikers with a guy from the Championship, it was never going to be any different, we need more upfront than that. Spend the £ and get a partner in for him ffs.
-
Is it time to officially worry yet.
-
Veretout on for Gabby, please.
-
We take the piss out of "Pardiola" but he changed it around after half time and Tim simply didn't react quick enough.
-
They upped it, we didn't.Too slow by half.
-
Is it time to officially worry yet.
Let's see how we do v Sunderland next week.
-
Clark and Bacuna are getting shown up for defensive frailties
-
We take the piss out of "Pardiola" but he changed it around after half time and Tim simply didn't react quick enough.
He often doesn't. It's like it takes him until 75 minutes into every match to remember that he, in fact, is the one in charge of substitutions.
-
Sherwood's made two big mistakes today - picking Gabby in the first place, and then leaving him on when everyone can see how shit he is
-
Seen enough in three games to realise we are going to struggle to score goals.
Gabby is just an embarrassment.
-
Goal
-
YESSSSS!
-
Trouble is we were much better than them first half and should have scored when on top, but we took a fucking knob of melted butter to a gun fight.
Oh shit....
-
Oh yes, oh yes, Adama I love you!
-
FUCKING YES!!!!!!! TRAORE!
-
I am honestly at a loss as to what Sherwood sees in Gabby
-
Traore!!!!!
-
Bloody hell Adama's a bit quick
-
Ha ha ha take a bit of that!
-
YESSSSS
-
Boom!!
-
HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. BATMAN.
-
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS TRAORE
-
Oh man
, I fucking love Traore already!
-
Yessssssss!
-
fucking brilliant, made their fullback look a mug.
-
Fucking hell!
-
God has landed.
-
Wow!
-
Ha! That'll help dampen expectations!
Great run. Pace and power.
-
COME ON!!!!!
-
:o
Is it time to officially worry yet.
Get the fuck in Traore
-
TRAOOOOOREEEEEEE!!!
-
Hahahaha
-
I knew was about change.
Forget my last post. Someone else typed it.
-
OG according to BBC?
-
Inspired substitution
-
I fucking hate Palace as well with the little shit tip of a ground. 5 years of rolling over for wank, little clubs and as I say that WOW
-
Souare og
-
The coming of the Lord. They said he might come back in another form.
-
We needed a bit of luck, we'll take that.
-
Quite a game at Upton Park meantime, Bournemouth 4-2 up
Leicester draw level against Spurs
-
And on the third day he rose
-
I hereby place all my hopes, and the hopes and future of Aston Villa, squarely on the shoulders of Adama Traore!
-
Cmon villa
-
Yeah so he is quick
-
OG according to BBC?
Yep, Adama made Puncheon look like a statue, got to the byline and then fired it into Soaure's foot and it snuck into the bottom corner.
-
That goal made me laugh! Adama is obviously our saviour
-
GIVE THE BALL TO TRAORE LADS!
-
See my negative posts always work for us
-
*Ring ring* "Hola, this is Barcelona calling. Has Adama unpacked yet, because, well..."
-
Barca will be on the blower after the game asking for him back.
-
GIVE TRAORE THE FUCKIN BALL!!!
-
Traore is for real.
-
Not lacking for confidence is Adama
-
Come on Villa, score a late winner for the first time in our history.
-
Maybe Barca will calls in couple of years to take Traore back and offer us some washed up has been called Messi.
-
West Ham 3 Bournemouth 4
-
Wow, he's made Palace just lose their minds.
-
Fuck me it's the reincarnation of Tony Daley.
-
Wow, he's made Palace just lose their minds.
Completely.
-
Jeez, don't agree with these bookings.
-
Get Gabby off, let's win this.
-
Love the fact that Tim has made a fcukin mug of Reeeego off WM.
-
Come on Villa, a point here would be really good I think
-
Get Gabby off and stick Ayew up there with Rudy, there is time here for the win.
-
It really should be quite simple instructions and tactics for the last 10 minutes...give the ball to Traore. How hard can it be?!
-
A striker is definitely the missing piece for us, or should I say a goalscorer.
-
How the fuck is Agbonlahor still on the pitch? Just so annoying.
-
God knows what Traore will be like when he's fully fit
-
Fuck me it's the reincarnation of Tony Daley.
Exactly what I thought. Took me right back H v Liverpool 30 years ago...
-
How the fuck is Agbonlahor still on the pitch? Just so annoying.
This.
-
Kozak would be sharp enough to take advantage of this type of service
-
Silly yellow for Bacuna - not the first time for delaying a throw in
-
Bacuna's having a 'moment.'
-
Christ Bacuna, how thick can you get?
-
Oh fuckin hell.
-
Bloody bloody hell, so bloody typical
-
Right, I've decided. I don't think Bacuna is good enough.
-
WTF Brad
-
What are Bacuna and Guzan doing there!
Fucking suicidal at times.
And how is Gabby still on!
Oh and more stupidity
Sakho - fucking typical.
-
For fuck sake.
-
What a really poor goal.
-
Oh for fucks sake. That's awful.
-
Fucking Pathetic.
-
Fucking ace
-
Oh for fucks' sake. Wrong ball out from Brad and then Amavi mugged
-
what a fucking cock up
-
We were determined to throw it away. You have to say, we persevered and succeeded. Well done, Villa.
-
Amavi - twat
-
Bacuna and Agbonlahor are just not good enough, I'm amazed both continue to get a place in the team
-
Bacuna has been absolutely hopeless today. Amavi very poor in second half, deserved second for Palace.
Guzan should be saving that too mind
-
stupid mistake, annoying as shit, no idea why Guzan gave it to Amavi though.
-
Fucking shooting ourselves in the fucking foot. Rediculous play from conceding the corner onwards. Totally idiotic.
-
Guzan you twat
-
Ah well that's that
-
We really are our own worst enemies at times. Or most of the time should I say.
-
Guzan could have done better there
-
Typical villa, just fucking sick of it
-
started with Bacuna, time wasting. Fuck off
-
Guzan you twat
If anyone wonders why we made a move for Begovic
-
FFS. It's hard enough playing with so many new faces but to gift two goals is piss poor.
-
Thickie Villa is not dead.
-
Bad defeat this.
-
Thickie Villa fucking themselves up again.
-
I see not much has changed from last season >:(
-
Fucking hell
-
The thick vein of stupidity still runs strong through the team. Bacuna, Gabby, Guzan all as thick as a brick, knob heads.
-
Oh let play go ref.
-
If Bacuna hadn't been such a fanny we wouldn't have conceded that.
-
Amavi - twat
Bit harsh.
-
When will they ever learn to stop throwing games away in the last 10 mins
-
The lack of any changes from the manager is to blame too though. He has options, and not using them is just poor. Gabby, Gestede, Westwood have offered very little in the last half an hour, but have stayed on.
Very poor.
-
Well Lerner probably thinks spending £50m,£10 net is plenty. Well done Mr Tactics. Dire shit.
-
Bad defeat this.
Needless defeat.
-
If Bacuna hadn't been such a fanny we wouldn't have conceded that.
Spot on
-
We're not just at home to Mr. Cock-Up, but we've invited him in, prepared some canopes and dusted off the good champagne.
-
Sinclair and Ayew should be on by now. Tim isn't doing well today.
-
Dwight Gayle is a much better player than Gabby
-
Well Guzan will be dropped again now . We are in trouble already , 2 defeats in a week is very very poor
-
completely witless
-
Someone should tell Sherwood that nowadays he can make up to three substitutions. That can come in handy when players are either injured or completely fucking ineffectual.
-
Gabby is a donkey.
-
Sinclair and Ayew should be on by now. Tim isn't doing well today.
I agree. Gestede has been beaten in the air by Palace's giants and offered nothing on the ground. Gabby has been about as useful as a flaccid leaf.
-
We're not just at home to Mr. Cock-Up, but we've invited him in, prepared some canopes and dusted off the good champagne.
I think we married Mr. Cock-Up a few years ago.
-
Dwight Gayle from Coronation Street is a much better player than Gabby
Corrected for you
-
I was enjoy the summer without this lot wrecking the weekend with their usual fucking cock up's.
-
Well Guzan will be dropped again now . We are in trouble already , 2 defeats in a week is very very poor
Against Man Utd and away to Palace where we were 18/1 to win. Sometimes you really knwo when to say things to piss fellow fans off even more, failing to see any context or sense.
-
Well Guzan will be dropped again now . We are in trouble already , 2 defeats in a week is very very poor
two games we've actually not been too far behind the opposition. Just dumb errors and not much creativity.
-
Well Guzan will be dropped again now . We are in trouble already , 2 defeats in a week is very very poor
In trouble already after three matches?
Are you for real?
-
Well Guzan will be dropped again now . We are in trouble already , 2 defeats in a week is very very poor
One was against Manchester United who, whilst I don't expect us to roll over and have our belly tickled every time, are famous for being quite good. I wouldn't get too concerned just yet.
-
Guzan you twat
If anyone wonders why we made a move for Begovic
Damn straight. That was totally his fault, dawdled when he could have gone early, then puts Amavi in the shit.
His distribution is so bad it's undermining him entirely.
-
Fucking furious with this.
-
Gabby's the embodiment with everything that's wrong with us. Too slow to react, lumpen, and fucking stupid.
-
Sinclair and Ayew should be on by now. Tim isn't doing well today.
No he isn't is he. Very slow to react to Pardew and left the gormless donkey on for the full 90. Bacuna and Gabby out for Sunderland. Oh hang on it's Gabby's yearly performance against them isn't it?
-
Well, there we are . A very disappointing defeat.
-
All over. Deserved to lose on the second half, and Sherwood deserves as much of the blame as the players. In complete control at half time, he got owned by the changes and didn't react.
-
gestede is very limited and gabby a waste of space. thoughtless from the manager and the players
-

We were not 18/1 today, more like 3/1
-
Furious
-
Gestede, Gabby and Jack completely anonymous in the second half.
Its no coincidence that Guzan, Bacuna and Gabby are the weak links in this team and carried over from previous seasons.
Not sure if Guzan or Amavi is to blame for the fuck up...Guzan shouldn't have played that ball putting Amavi under pressure, but he should have been more aware and got rid rather than trying to beat his man.
-
That's pissed me right off. Why can't pro footballers not realise you don't dick about on the edge of your own box with minutes to go when you have an away point in the bag?
-
All has such a predictable pattern.
-

We were not 18/1 today, more like 3/1
which is about right. Palace are organised, pretty good and at home.
-
gestede is very limited and gabby a waste of space. thoughtless from the manager and the players
Gabby is finished. We played without a strike force today.
-

We were 18/1. Check your facts before posting things you obviously don't know.
You're the equivalent of everything that's wrong with tabloid newspapers. You're the Louise Mensch/Katie Hopkins of this message board. Trying to create sensationalism over not a lot.
-
At 1-1-, and three games into the season, I thought, fuck it, go for the win, does a defeat really matter at this stage? Amavi went for it, if he beat his man, we were away. He didn't, and we fucked up. It happens. I'm happy he went to go for it, but obviously disappointed at the outcome.

Come on, you know what he means. We'd have a one in eighteen chance of beating both teams. As predicted, it hasn't happened.
-
we're a couple of players short of being a good side, but I've been saying that to my self for years. Please Randy spend some money on a top class striker at least

where the hell was 18/1?
I'd have taken a bet on that before the game.
-

I hardly think being 25 yards from your own goal is away.
-
And whilst I'm at it, 3/1 hints we weren't favourites today either. We'll win games like that throughout the season. Today was naive at best.
-
Mistakes due to inexperience will be a major part of this season.

Whilst I agree, he speaks doomish nonsense, there's absolutely no way we were 18/1 pre match, none at all.
-
Think a new striker is an absolute must. We need someone big who is also mobile. Gestede will be a good impact player against certain backlines, but Palace are pretty robust. Today was not his day.
I thought once again we ran out of steam badly. Amavi was very good first half, and poor in the second. Gana disappeared out the game. Grealish was done for after 70 minutes but that's no surprise really. Tim should have taken him off.
Gabby was a fucking abomination.
Bacuna is a liability. Today in particular was probably a game that would have suited Hutton more.
Traore looks a bit good. I think he'll be particularly useful coming off the bench for now.
I'll be honest, I think we're in for tough times again. There's some quality here but we're still lacking sorely in key areas and we seem compelled to gift the opposition goals and I don't see that changing under someone as gung-ho as Sherwood. In attack we largely look about as threatening as Woody Allen in boxing get up. We've got some real quality in Grealish, Gil and Traore, but we need someone more similar in ilk to Benteke up front. Physical and mobile.
-

I hardly think being 25 yards from your own goal is away.
When you watch it again, you'll see they had quite a few players forward.
-
I am not and haven't been in the "we'll be fine" camp.
I think this season will be another long hard slog, although I hope we don't get dragged into another horrible end of season scrap.
For me the problems seem to be that we don't really raise our game.
Palace were poor first half, really poor, but they turned it up second half, looked like they had a belief they would win, and were by far the better team.
We just seem to plod along. No real variation, no stepping up of the pace, no pressing.
That's what now? 7, 8 games where we have looked totally ineffective.
I am still waiting for this winning mentality to kick in.
-
Fuming , just disgraceful to lose like that ..WTF was Bacuna doing giving the corner away in the first place. Then the rest jesus fuck ..
That said the front 2 offered next to fuck all , Gestede might be good at heading it in but his hold up play was hopeless.
Jack first half and Adama only bright spots
-
This really is time for Gabby to go. Guzan replaced for Bunn and Charlie Austin and we will be a top ten side ......
-
Sorry, but in no way will the addition of Charlie Austin turn us into a top 10 team.

We were not 18/1 today, more like 3/1
We were 18/1. Check your facts before posting things you obviously don't know.
You're the equivalent of everything that's wrong with tabloid newspapers. You're the Louise Mensch/Katie Hopkins of this message board. Trying to create sensationalism over not a lot.
Whilst I agree, he speaks doomish nonsense, there's absolutely no way we were 18/1 pre match, none at all.
Doomish nonsense lol who have you been watching last 4 years , yeah I'm just back from Banksy's Dismaland , there's a dark theatre there called Aston Villa where's there's a loop of games where we concede late goals . In fact it's not even a loop it's just a very long dvd .

This really is time for Gabby to go. Guzan replaced for Bunn and Charlie Austin and we will be a top ten side ......
top 14 I'd say

At 1-1-, and three games into the season, I thought, fuck it, go for the win, does a defeat really matter at this stage? Amavi went for it, if he beat his man, we were away. He didn't, and we fucked up. It happens. I'm happy he went to go for it, but obviously disappointed at the outcome.
I hardly think being 25 yards from your own goal is away.
When you watch it again, you'll see they had quite a few players forward.
In that case, passing to Amavi was pointless. A long ball would have cut them all out and saved risking our draw on the edge of our own box.

Guzan is at fault IMHO , he's forever putting defenders under pressure with stupid throw outs. Get Bunn into the team ASAP.

I don't follow betting or ever bet but has any top flight match ever seen any team at 18/1 to win a match?
So I'm with sillhillvilla on this and calling it bollocks!

Bollocks indeed. I had a tenner on us. The odds were 7/2.

At 1.30 yesterday Palace were 4/5 and Villa at 3/1 with Paddypowers.

First time I've said this but I think sillhillvilla is owed an apology.
