James T Kirk

We'd be playing with ten men with Kirk in charge, he's be too busy snogging a blue woman from Alpha Centauri.

Clarky 110%. He's skippered before. He skippered at youth levels I believe. He's a good pro. I think he'll be an important player for us this season. Depending on how quickly he settles I'd consider Richards for second choice.

Perhaps we should sign Steph Houghton. She seems to know what she is doing as a captain.

Surely it will be Micah Richards or failing that Clark .
Jesus we need some players in, it's all starting to look very desperate at the club.

Of course it matters, is Fabian Delph bigger than Aston Villa Football Club? Clark or Richards are the two obvious ones, when I was beginning this post I was thinking Richards, but I think Clark showed real leadership last season and would be happy with him. Anyone for Gabby :-) ?

Completely disilussioned with it all, I don't think it really matters. Delph has proven it means fuck all to the players. I hope it's not Richards...isn't he inherently lazy? Not exactly someone to lead by example.  Maybe Grealish. Why not.

Caveman!!!!

Micah Richards as a new arrival would be an interesting choice of captain.  Clark is developing, but is still young and has a lot to learn.  Gabby is not PL standard anymore and should have been one of the ones to be shown the door.   There is a lot of rebuilding to be done, if a team can be assembled with a better mentality which puts a damn sight more effort in than they did last season Richards would be my choice.

Should be Clark.  He was really growing into a dominant centre half last season, will probably be first choice so seems like the stand out candidate to me.

We could have a bingo/lotto machine with the squad numbers in and draw the next fixtures captain at half time instead of the kick the ball to the round thingy on the half way line competition.

I did say Delph because he is the sort of player who can insert his personality on the team and as long as he is on his game can be a player of real importance.  If he was playing every week then Gabby might be a good shout but I don't see that happening at the moment anyway. If I didn't pick Delph then I would say that Guzan is the next best option.

I would go for Clark now, but we need more than one leader on the pitch. Know it has been mentioned before, but Saunders had a bunch of players other than Sir Dennis. I saw Peter Withe at bodymoor many times getting really angry and there were the likes of Evans, McNaught, Bremner and Swain as well who were vocal

I can see him picking Richards. Sherwood had spoken of creating a winning mentality and bringing in players who have that attitude. Clark would still be a very good choice but I think it might be Micah.

We've been carrying Gabby for too many seasons now and he hasn't done anything. Not alone should he not be a potential captain,  he shouldn't still be at the club. Too shite for too long.  After that I can't see a strong enough player in our squad from last season that deserves to be captain. Maybe one of the new guys can show themselves this season as a leader.

Not Gabby, no, no, no. Gives completely the wrong message. The armband for those who really can't be bothered? I thought we might be likely to sign our new captain in the near future, however, it looks like we've already signed him. I reckon Richards will keep the armband.
