ManUre match now on Friday evening (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33385665)
-
FFS!
-
I thought they had disbanded?
-
Although from my selfish point of view it's my lads birthday on the Saturday so I'd have missed it
-
Didn't we play a Friday televised match once against Liverpool and get battered? With either Rush or Fowler scoring a few against us? I don't know if I've managed to block out the bad memory (which is why it is hazy) or if I just imagined it and it was just some sort of nightmare?
-
This publicity this brings is manna from heaven for those fucking scum.
-
EDL march? What all 20 of them ....and they rearrange a football match ...unbelievable!
-
It is bad enough that TV dictates the time genuine supporters attend matches.
Now we have a game moved to accomodate mindless racist scum.
The world has officially gone mad !
Couldn't the police have "rejected" an EDL march on the Saturday because of a football match taking place that day ?

Frosty Friday night 20th Jan 1984. Ian Rush hat trick 3-1 defeat.
Prime time Time BBC 1.

Yep, was there. Pitch was frozen solid I recall.

Our last Friday night game was Millwall in the cup.

Yes. CNZ got bottled by millwall ultras

31 years ago Jeez no wonder I had trouble remembering. Thanks for clearing that up. It's brought the memory flooding back and now I could do with a stiff drink. No wonder I buried that memory and there's a logical reason why I don't like the idea of Friday football.
-
Wasn't that game moved for a similar reason?
-
Millwall not Liverpool

Shame we won't get the chance * winky thing*

Millwall not Liverpool
Yes the ga,e at Millwall was shifted because there was a local protest against closure of the local NHS hospital in Bermondsey or Lewisham. Chico was there with his family fraternising with the Millwall mascot IIRC

Correct . I'd been down to go to the Saturday game as a corporate guest. Once it went to Friday they got back to me strongly suggesting not to go on the Friday night . So I didn't.
-
I was hoping I'd never be reminded of that game.
It was freezing cold and we were kept in for 45 minutes after the game had ended.
They can claim what they like about making progress but they live in a bygone age.

What, and have the fuckers banging on about restriction of freedoms, how we are bowing to Islam, the loony leftards and other bollocks? Better to let them get on with it so we can all ignore them.
Looks like Sky wanted all the top four live on the first weekend anyway so it was going to move one way or the other.
-
We played the Albion on a Friday night when we were in the second division for no reason I can remember.

I think the concern was it was the last shopping weekend before Christmas, and that might affect the gate.
So they moved it to Friday night and barely 20,000 turned up.

The only thing I can remember about that game was I was sitting in the Trinity and Birchy hit the post from about 25 yards out.

I remember laughing at the sight of a young Carlton Palmer charging around like a startled giraffe.

EDL
Bas####s
I remember them marching in Hinckley , then while they were going back to the train station , most of them came into my shop .
I was hoping to make a bit of money off them for ten minutes or so but all they did was rob me , just took wine and beer without paying and they were utter scum.
And yes I'm white . F##k knows what would happen if it was an Asian shop.
Utter mindless thuggery scum .

My first sighting of Carlton Palmer was in a league cup game at The Hawthorns a couple of years before. He looked like a basketball player and due to the conditions the match was played with an orange ball. I was waiting for him to pick it up and dribble basketball style with it. I missed the Friday night Albion game as I was in Australia on holiday but I remember playing Swansea the Friday before the European Cup Final, Liverpool in that 1-3 where I think Dennis Mortimer put us one up before Rush got a hat trick on an icy pitch (most of the players seemed to be wearing pimpled soled trainers like they did on astroturf). BBC showed one of Rush's goals n the MOTD credits for what seemed like ages afterwards. It would have been January 20th 1984 as I remember it was my mum's birthday. We also played Forest on a Friday night just before Christmas 1989 in the ZDS Cup and won 2-1 i think.

i though it was moved for tv purposes ?

No, that little gimmick kicks in next season.
-
I still more worried about the Villa defence than the EDL.
-
The only Friday night match I have ever been to was Paul Birch's testimonial in the summer of '91.
I have a bizarre memory that David Platt, who had recently left us for Bari officially kicked the match off, as in touched the ball once on the sound of the ref's whistle before sprinting off the pitch, whilst dressed in his Bari Kit.
Did that actually happen or did I imagine the whole thing?!

Very good.
Really does it actually matter what time our annual home surrender to ManU takes place? I suppose any kind of disruption benefits us as it might disturb ManUre so we should be happy.

Nope it happened just like that, he was only insured to kick off the game
-
Our home fixture against this lot has been my least favourite fixture for several decades now. I hate everything about it.
Even when i had my season ticket I'd sometimes make a point of not bothering with this one. It's just like a 90 minute viewing of a microcosm of every single thing that upsets me about football.

I'm pretty sure the last time I went to a Manure game at VP, was about a decade ago when Scholes hit that screamer. I fucking hate playing them, so even when i've had a ST I haven't bothered with that game.
I won't be going this season either.

Didn't he arrive in a helicopter as well?

Actually, I was at the 2-2 game when we played Hogg, Bannan etc and Albrighton ripped them apart. 2 manure games in a decade, and that's 2 too many. I fucking hate them and their wanky plastic Brummie red shithouses far more than I dislike small heath. Tossers.
-
Millwall was moved because of a protest to save Lewisham hospital.
-
Seem to remember playing Middlesborough on a Friday night. Can't remember the score though. Probably late 70's.
-
Our first game if the 1980s was on a Friday night at Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup.
I remember that Paul Birch testimonial game more specifically because when I was walking away from the ground I noticed I was spattered in quite a lot of blood - not mine or anyone I was with and I've still got no idea where it came from.
-
Il be watching in Ibiza
Presumably in packed out bars full of franchise Utd wankers
Although I remember a time years ago when I was on holiday in Tenerife and we played Man Utd I went to the local bar to watch the game, my lad had his Villa shirt on thinking we would be the token Villa supporters in there, only to find the place full of Villa fans
We lost. (Obviously)

Think we lost 2-0, we played on the Friday because the motor show was on at the N.E.C.
-
I remember years ago when Sky put the 1st lunchtime k.o. between ManUre and Leeds if I recall correctly. Hairy Richard Keys said it was not Sky but the Police advised to put the match on earlier, at the time I thought fair enough. It was just a platform for Sky to start showing games at the earlier time. A few weeks later it was Bolton vs Boro or something...still doing it for Police reasons??? The same is happening here.
-
Isn't it really on a Friday so that it can be shown live on TV in the Middle East on their equivalent of MOTD?

See, the EDL are right.
Them Muslims are taking over our football as well !
Oh, the irony.
-
According to the Torygraph (from the Villa section), United are being forced to play on Friday night. Just a mention in the small print that there's another team involved in the match

Oh god I hope that is true. A twist on many levels :)
