Title: Euro View of transfer values
Post by: Mister E on June 09, 2015, 04:14:09 PM
Here  (http://www.football-observatory.com/IMG/pdf/mr06_eng.pdf)is a report that analyses players most likely to be transferred and at what value.
Interestingly, I do not see C Benteke on the list anywhere. Lukaku - for comparison - is valued at c.£40m; Kane for c.£55m; Berahinho for c.£23m.
The only Villa player mentioned is Weimann, as a player with a high probability of being transferred (value: c.£4m). I cannot see why he would appear as a possible transfer compared with - say  -Vlaar.
The analysis values the Villa squad at £95m - just below the Best Supported Team in the World.

Why post this? - well, I suppose it gives us some insight into who around Europe might be available, and at what price ...
... if you find the report and its authors credible.

I think it's fair to say that any source that values Danny Welbeck at 32-35m, has the likes of Chambers and Bentaleb in the mid 20m but no mention of Benteke, is not going to be the most credible. Even assuming the figures are in Euros.

Perhaps CB has been sold already - just no-one knows about it  :o

Albion should wait till deadline day and then sell Berahino . The way his transfer value increases every time his name is mentioned he will be worth about £150,000,000 by then.

I haven't read the link properly, but its notoriously difficult to apply statistics to football. That said, interesting that 'Figure 4: Best performing players at the end of contract' unsurprisingly features mainly older players, but the only one under 26, André Ayew, has just signed for Swansea. Swansea being one of the EPL clubs that do actually seem to have a sustainable recruitment strategy.

The next youngest, Alberto Bueno, has just signed for Porto.
