Booooo! We've played them recently, and it's a midweek.
Play at new grounds (in the UK) at the weekend, you bastards.

I guess they were genuinely waiting to see if we were in the Charity Shield before confirming the last one!

That makes me sad. I was just starting to get over the pain and then they'll be a sucker punch reminder. Over the weekend the BBC decided to show the cup final highlights and, despite my dive for the remote, I felt the pain again.
BTW, where are you in Bedford? I live in Silsoe in Central Beds. if you know it? There's not many of us around here!
-
We normally host a big-ish European team the week before the season at Villa Park, Forest away is a bit disappointing in comparison. Maybe the lack of an attendance against Malaga the season just gone has put them off.

Parma. The game with no attendance.

Atrociously boring games, all either abroad or at grounds we've played at recently.
I can entirely understand why we'd play in America/China/Australia/wherever to try to boost the club's profile and bring in some money. When we're playing in England, however, there's no reason why they shouldn't try to play some matches at interesting venues. Ones we haven't played at recently or by the seaside, for instance.

Point taken but realistically the club chooses to play for reasons other than given fans a day out at at seaside or ne pw stadia.
For eg Sherwood has links with lee power at swindon.
-
Think I'll get to the forest match but unlikely to do any others
-
Probably just Walsall for me now.
-
Swindon looks like it could be a good evening out.
Can't imagine that's something that has been said too often.

It was, at the fewest, three. For half an hour, anyway.
-
5. As me and Leeg were there, We're getting closer to the actual figure.
-
Walsall and Forest I think. Possibly Wolves maybe as well.

Plus Freddy, my girls school football team and the HT. 20 now.

Beware the magic roundabout
-
Work in Walsall so plenty of locals to have a pint with and Wolves is a 30-minute bus ride so they will do niceley

I'm guessing Rugby World Cup prep for VP is the main reason for no home friendly
-
I usually do Walsall but will probably skip it and do Wolves and Forest so my son can tick another couple of grounds off.
-
Amazingly Forest is still a ground I have never been to, so I'll probably go to that one.

I've probably been about half a dozen times. And managed to actually get into the ground on every occasion except one.
-
What .. no Gronningen! Meh!
-
Amazingly Forest is still a ground I have never been to, so I'll probably go to that one.
I went to my first ever top flight football game at Forest in 1966, which if I recall correctly was quite a good year for football.
-
Any idea which ground we are playing at in Albufera ?
-
Estadio Da Nora
-
Estadio Da Nora
Thanks for that, may amble along for the 2nd game.
-
Capacity 2000! Will it be a ticket only affair ?
-
I can't believe I've got a ground Cooper hasn't been to.

Took my lad to this one Leeg.
22?
-
I can't believe I've got a ground Cooper hasn't been to.
Only about another 500 to catch me up then.
I've been to six different grounds in Nottingham (if you count Hucknall as being in Nottingham), but never Forest.
-
Forest Away April 1993 was my first Villa Away. 1-0 - God Header.
Me and my dad missed my granddads 70th Birthday. My mum was livid!
-
Amazingly Forest is still a ground I have never been to, so I'll probably go to that one.
Decent 15 minute walk from train station, over trent and into West Bridgford (If you are using train obviously) Some nice pubs once you get to the trent.
Aim for West Bridgford if driving - plenty of places to ditch car near centre of W.Bridgford.
I go quite a bit as my brother-in-law is a forest fan and he lives 5 mins from the ground.

Villa will now face Sporting Braga as part of the pre-season trip to Portugal.
The club will be in Portugal from July 9-18 as Tim Sherwood puts his players through their paces.
There will be two open training sessions at the Estadio Da Nora in Albufeira on Saturday July 11 and Friday July 17.
A training match against Fulham will be open to supporters free of charge on Saturday July 11 and the same applies for a second training match on Friday July 17.
That was originally due to take place against Bristol City but will now see us face Sporting Braga.
When we head back to the UK, we face three friendlies on home soil.
First up, there's a game with Swindon Town at The County Ground on Tuesday July 21, kick-off 7.45pm.
There's the usual match with Walsall, which has become a regular in the pre-season schedule.
We face the Saddlers at the Banks's Stadium on Saturday July 25, kick-off 3pm.
Then it's another Midlands derby game as we face Wolves at Molineux on Tuesday July 28, with a 7.45pm start.
We will then travel to the East Midlands as we face Nottingham Forest on August 1.
The meeting at The City Ground kicks off at 3pm.

Didn't we play forest in a friendly 2 years ago (L 1-3).

So we're basically playing Sporting Braga instead of Bristol City.

Get in! Must admit I'm down in Albufeira around then and the prospect of a training game against Bristol City wasn't making me think i need to leave the villa or the beach to go and watch.

I take it we've dropped down to third before we even start this season
With AFC Bournmouth taking top spot before we start kicking balls
-
Nope. They seem to be listed as Bournemouth.
-
The stupid BBC can't make their mind up. They have Bournemouth listed third in the Premier League despite the fact that AFC Bournemouth are ahead of Arsenal and ourselves alphabetically (or between us if you choose to list them as "Association Football Club Bournemouth").
However, they have Wimbledon listed top of League Two despite the fact that AFC Wimbledon comes after Accrington Stanley.
I'm happy to allow Bournemouth to be above us for now, so long as we're above them after the first game. I can't see how they wouldn't consider that perfectly fair.
-
We always used to be 2 in cup draws , I assume it's because of them we aren't anymore.
-
Sounds a tidy little set of pre-season fixtures. The Forest one is the one which should produce the most fun me thinks. I did go to the City ground once but it was a long time ago for a Euro 96 fixture to be excate.
-
We always used to be 2 in cup draws , I assume it's because of them we aren't anymore.
Yep. We've been number three since they got to the Championship.
Arsenal have inherited the unlucky ball number two... and won the cup twice in a row. Bastards.
-
I won't be at any pre seasons this year due to work and holidays. Generally I don't enjoy friendless anyway,

We were also number 3 back when Aldershot were in the Football League

Which is a shame because you probably are.
BOOM!

No we weren't. The alphabetical numbering in the Third Round draw only applies to teams in the top two divisions, numbers 1-48. Second Round winners are numbered 49-64 according to the order their tie was drawn out.
As Aldershot weren't in the top two divisions, they'd have made no difference to us. Nor do Accrington Stanley, the new Aldershot Town or AFC Wimbledon.

I was pretty sure I was right, ah well
