Lot of time to reflect this week and the impatience of the wait for the Wet Spam match.
1) Surprise at Dave Woodhall's thinning hair on Midlands Today ?
2) Benteke's rolled penalty vs Albion ?
3) Weds evening yellow ticker tape sky sports -Lambert sacked?
4) Delph's winner at Wembley?
5) Bacuna's pass for Super Tom vs Toffees?
-
To follow....
-
For me personally it was the Scott Sinclair goal against Albion, just a massive out pouring of emotion.
-
So far, Agent Foster's intervention.
-
1. Seeing Gerrards` name on the team sheet at Wembley
2. Seeing Gerrard blowing out of his arse during the game
3. Seeing him blast the free kick high into his supporters towards the end of the game - at that point I knew we had won
Easily the top moment was seeing VCTM Jnr`s face during the final minutes when the roars from the Villa faithful became more and more frenzied - at the final whistle we hugged each other whilst jumping up and down like mad things
That was a proper "Dad and Lad" moment - I shed a few tears of pride and looked up to the heavens and said "Dad were gonna do it this time" - I was born 1957 and my late father was at the `57 Final
-
In no real order:
1) Being allowed back on to H&V
2) The whole Wembley semi weekend
3) Lambert getting the tin tack
4) Benteke's last minute penalty
5) Sherwood being appointed
-
So far, Agent Foster's intervention.
Hard to argue. If one rush of blood to the head turned a football club around, that was it...
-
oh, and Delph signing.
A bolt of hope deep out of the blue, when everythig felt so bleak.
Off to bump the song for Delph thread. Talk about a literally unsung hero :o
-
Lambert's sacking. Nothing positive that has followed since - or may still happen - would have been possible with him in charge.
-
Lambert's sacking. Nothing positive that has followed since - or may still happen - would have been possible with him in charge.
yep and then the subsequent arrival of Sherwood has changed everything. Throw in Benteke's hattrick freekick vs QPR too and it's pretty good since.
-
There was a point in the semi towards the end of the game where I noticed that the Liverpool players were standing off Jack Grealish. They were afraid of him.
-
So far, Agent Foster's intervention.
Same for me.
We deserved to win that game for the first half alone but looked like another winless game. It started the ball rolling for the Sherwood era and fcuked the Albion aswell.
-
Wembley followed by Sinclairs winner in the Quarters.
-
The scenes at the final whistle against Albion in the cup. If anyone watching that didn't get the pride, passion and potential of AVFC then they just don't understand football.
-
Hopefully the moment of the season hasn't happened yet

I know the lad and dad feeling. The SF was no exception. For years, we have always hugged and I then kiss him on the head when we score. Now he is 19 I think he is a bit embarrassed. Anyway he still attends with me so its obviously not too bad!

No 5 was pass of the season. Finish wasnt bad either

Because it was slap bang in the middle of so much horrendous sludge, this still stands out for me:

The ref giving the penalty against Albion. Our season turned at that moment.
-
It hasn't happened yet, but when it comes it'll have been worth the wait.
Until then, Benteke's penalty vs West Brom
-
The frozen look on Lambert's face immediately after Hull's second goal- That broke the dam of club prevarication and everything thing after has moved us forward.
-
1/ Delph`s goal at wembley :
2/ Gil`s goal. When we had nothing to be hopeful about :
3/ Jack Grealish putting Mcarthy on his arse :
4/ Sherwood celebrating of the west brom victory :
Keep them coming. My love for Villa is back !!!!

I find it very hard to comprehend the fact that Gil has been frozen out, such a talented player.
For me it is the second half against Leicester in the cup. First half was Lambert, second was a clear sign of Sherwood starting to influence things before he had even started.
-
The ref giving the penalty against Albion. Our season turned at that moment.
This for me too Des
-
Benteke's goal against Palace is right up there for me, it came between 2 long periods of utter shite and was about the only bright spark in our worst period I can ever recall.
Other than that I agree with Walters Warriors 4 above.
-
The Roar at wembley in the dying stages of the game. I think as a club and as a fanbase we allowed ourselves to believe. A lot of people including myself began to feel the pride return.
-
Single most important moment was when they decided to sack Lambert.
On the pitch, it's the last minute winner against the Bitters. They aren't necessarily the best moments, but they are the most important imo.
-
I would have to choose the last minute winner against The Albion, on the basis that I was so carried away I climbed on my seat & fell through it, damaging knee ligaments and causing bruising to my shin that actually still hasn't completely disappeared, and I didn't even feel it for 2 days!
-
Benteke's last minute penalty against Albion on my 20th Birthday. I was crying my eyes out and going absolutely mental.
Not to get too emotional, but I'd recently been through a horrendously bad (and first) break-up and it reminded me there's something in the world that I can love. Since that moment I've not missed a game all season (apart from Old Trafford, fortunately ;) )
-
Delph signing
-
1) Being allowed back on to H&V
Bless! x
Bacuna's pass and Cleverley's finish. Effortless, sublime and all the other clichés.
-
Bentekes penalty - a massive turning point in every sense of the word, the moment the self-belief began to return, the moment the season really began almost.
-
I can't add too much that hasn't already been said. Benteke's pen, Gil's goal, Delph contract, semi final and Clark's blockbusting tackle (Oor err)
- and Risso being allowed back on H&V
-
Losing at Hull.
The beginning of the end of the nightmare.
-

This - a proper hairs on the back of the neck moment.
-
away at Liverpool (4th game of the season). Fans chanting were gonna win the league. feels so so long ago.
-
Me screaming uncontrollable expletives at the TV screen that was filled by Lambert's bloated red face – his final drivel seeping from it during the post-match interview on 10th February, 2015.
I gave myself a headache, but the season changed after that and there's been plenty of screaming for the right reasons since. Long may it continue!
-
Benteke rolling that penalty into the Stripey Filth's net....
UTV
The Doc
-
whatever happened in the dressing room at half time vs Leicester in the cup, our whole way of approaching games changed during that 15 minutes
-
I find it very hard to comprehend the fact that Gil has been frozen out, such a talented player.
Me too, but so often the case when a new manager comes in.
I enjoyed the whole Wembley experience, just knowing that we thoroughly deserved it and still having the complete belief that we will win on the 30th. It's been a long time.
-
Winning and scoring the penalty against Baggies. That was when the season changed for the good.
-
Might not be the most exciting at the time, but in hindsight I think the team talk at half time against Leicester in the FA Cup.
-
Since Bentekes last minute pen, it's hard to choose. But as others have said, hopefully 30th May will be one moment that will live long in all our Villa hearts.
-
For sheer quality, Bacuna's sublime pass, Cleverly's perfectly timed burst into the box, one touch and boom. That for me ranks alongside some of the best goals by any top team all season. And coming as it did when we were beginning to get the jitters against an in-form Everton made it even more important. More of that please.
As a strong runner up, although it came to nothing, the joy of seeing Villa players passing fluently, accurately, calmly and effectively (in the attacking half of the pitch for a change) for something like 50 passes (according to Danny Murphy) before winning a free kick. Just sums up the team ethic under TS for me; we can lump it up to the big man when necessary, but hay we can play it about too. Great stuff.
-
ben foster's rush of blood to the head.
-

That was the moment for me too :)
-
Surely it should read Moment of the Season so far......... I think it's fair to say he moment of the season iis probably still to come, hopefully anyway.
May 2015 is already 7 days old and it could either be one of the greatest or one of the worst months in the Villa's 141 years.
-
Will answer this question on 31st May.
-

He's too lightweight, anyway, who would you drop to bring him in?

the zog - although he has looked better in the last couple of games, not enough end product for me

Me too - this was the moment we knew we had our club back.
-
So far...
Off the pitch: Tim Sherwood replacing Paul Lambert and the knock-on effect it had
On the pitch: The Roar at Wembley in the semi-final
-
The Wembley roar. I won't forget that in a hurry.
Delph's shuffle before making off down the wing to cross for Benteke's Wembley goal was pretty special, too. I've watched that goal (and the second) about 40 times I reckon.
-
So far, Agent Foster's intervention.
First thing I thought of, that was the turning point.
-
Tim`s Half time talk v Leicester for me there was a change in the second half and we are still getting better
-
Losing at Hull.
The beginning of the end of the nightmare.
Well, hopefully. We're not safe yet.
-

Absolutely this. Truly pivotal.
-
Tim`s Half time talk v Leicester for me there was a change in the second half and we are still getting better
With hindsight I agree with this. At the time I thought it was just more of the Villa Russian Roulette of 45 mins good football every now and then.
-
....so far, with out a doubt, Tom Fox tossing that coin saying "Heads, it's Lambert....tails, it's Sherwood." PHEW !
-
The final whistle at wembley v liverpool . Just an outpouring of happiness
-
Aside from the ones already mentioned, Benteke's equaliser vs Liverpool. When we went one down you got the feeling that it was going to be one of those days but equalising so quickly was pivotal.
The penalty vs West Brom.
Benteke vs MU.
Gabby's biceps vs West Brom.
-
That penalty.
Pretty simple one for me.
-
That penalty.
Pretty simple one for me.
He took it very well. But then I will always wonder why Barry didn't step up.
-
Being drawn at home in the quarter final.
-
The away game against Man City
The finest performance of the season even though we lost
Playing the then reigning champions off the park with some splendid football, free, easy, passing possession football,
I didn't think it was possible to do that, and that is the day I realised Sherwood is the real deal, a miracle man, 65% possession at the Emerates unbelievable
Only losing out in the end to a proper howler from the goalie, but the rest was the stuff to make you proud again
-
The moment of the season will be the 89th minute on May 30th with Grealish going on a run where he beats 3 defenders, rounds the keeper & slots the ball into an empty net. His first goal for us & we lift the cup a few minutes later. Who the fuck is Ricky Villa?
Makes me wanna cry.

I sometimes read other clubs forums before and after the match, just to get a feel. Anyway what impressed me was that we were the first team in 6 years to have more possession than them in the premier league. I got a glow from that
-
Quite simply the appointment of Tim Sherwood.
Look, it might not last, he might turn out to be the crap manager everyone told us he was when he signed, but for this season, when all seemed fucked, he has turned a team looking bereft of any confidence whatsoever into one full of swagger. We could beat anyone right now, and it's all down to whatever Sherwood is doing on the training ground and in the dressing room, he believes and therefore so do the players.
-
The team talk against Leicester.
The last minute injury time penalty against West Brom.
The crowd at the Qtr Final.
That first half against Sunderland.
-
Nearly everything has been covered in this thread, I am going to add two though;
- Joe Cole & Senderos walking across the pitch at half time on Saturday applauding the years RIP's - I know its only common decency but I got a warm glow from it.
- Whoever decided it was a good idea to parade Gobbie Cabbage in front of the Villa fans at Wembley - inspired, turned the notch up another level :-)
-
Tom Fox.
Tossing the coin.
-
The Hull defeat. We were so utterly bad that night, something had to give and thankfully it finally did.
-
Stringing those fifty one passes together. It was wonderful to watch.
