Title: The Final
Post by: Drummond on April 19, 2015, 08:47:08 PM
 Well someone had to.

I'm not going to qualify through the club. I'll pay pretty much whatever it takes, how desperate are you?

I need to find a way. Any way. I'd even sell my soul to Dave Woodhall.

Only 25,000 going to each team it's going to be slim pickings.

Club Wembley overseas travel agency is asking 799 quid for the ticket + one night in a travelodge per person. Tempted but no thanks. Only paid 300 quid for two club wembley tickets back in 2010. Might try and find a member who's willing to sell at a decent price, but that's gonna be some wishful thinking i'm afraid.

My old man usually gets a few club tickets each year via his work or someone he knows, i'm not sure, but he doesn't need to be there as he supports Derby so that's at least one going spare.

Well local FA's and most clubs down to a certain level get some. (I remember someone who used to help a local FA telling me they used to raffle the two tickets they got each year.)

Every club that takes part in the cup gets at least a couple, and to be fair to them, when you see how much work volunteers put in they deserve the reward.

My hopes are pinned on an employee of the club who works as a scout - he's on his honeymoon during the final so he's said he'll see if he can help me out with whatever he is allocated by the club.

No guarantees on that though so I'll be looking to beg and borrow references once again.

Last year each club had approx 25k tickets. However, I suspect that would include any freebies/corporate that the club kept back.

Do we know how many out of the 25k last years finalists made available to non-corporates?

736 Clubs entered the FA Cup this season, all of which have been able to apply for tickets, so if you know anyone at your local non-league club give them a call. There's no harm in asking.

Or at least keep an eye out on your local club's site. Some of the non-league clubs will raffle stuff like ticket/s etc to help raise money to keep them going for another year.

Back in 2000 AXA was a client and asked them as they were sponsors, if they could get me a ticket. FOUR HUNDRED QUID!

Saying that, I have one possibility/contact to get a ticket(s) this time around and it will be through 'corporate' connections. I'm not banking on it as I'd imagine lots of investment bankers are now life long Arsenal supporters and tickets will be scarce.

It's not just teams who enter the FA Cup but any club who are affiliated to the FA. I ran Sunday club for years and i applied every season and i always received 2 tickets on occassion 4.
Then if anyone in our club had an affiliation to one of the finalists i gave them to them. Club folded two years ago so cant apply now.

I have had a season ticket for 16 years, went travelling last April so didn't get once this year as only got back at Christmas.

Have been to all five cup games, Sunderland have a ticket for Man City and will buy the three remaining home games. So will have 10 including every FA Cup game.

I wonder if I'll have any chance?

The most frustrating thing is that I get a few freebies with my mates, so I didn't bother to get a half season-ticket at Christmas when I returned. The only home games I've missed are Swansea and Chelsea since mid-December.

Yeah waiting to find out the criteria to plan my strategy. I'm not gonna miss the final, I'll pay a ridiculous premium off a tout if I have to, however I don't want to buy tickets for all the remaining home and away games to bung my history up to find out that I can't get one anyway, to then find out I have to pay XX from a tout outside

I don't want to get your hopes up, but I'd be very suprised if you don't get a ticket. After ST holders, I'd bet the next criteria will be 'all 5 cup games'. Bear in mind there should be a good 7,000 tickets left after ST holders, I doubt there are 7,000 people with better booking history than you.
Title: Re: The Final
Post by: JJ-AV on April 22, 2015, 10:59:54 AM
Are you sure on that criteria? I got my semi tickets late because I was on holiday, so didn't pay much attention to the crtieria... but I thought 15+, 12+, 10+ games all came before attending all 5 cup games.

If that's the case and there's circa 2,500 tickets after ST holders, then I don't think I'll get one. There's gotta be more than 2,500 people who've been to 12 games in total this season without a season ticket.

However, I hope you're right mate!

Obviously I don't know what the criteria will be, but this is what it was for the semi:

So you can see that they're placing emphasis on attending the cup games, with good reason as attendances in the early rounds are always poor and this will drive them next season. I really think 5 cup games will be enough to get you a ticket.

Bear in mind we only have around 18,000 ST holders.

I've asked around everybody I know who's a season ticket holder who cannot go and nothing starting to stress a little now as I'm looking for 1 deffo and up to 4 for my family

after the 5+ criteria it went down to a 2 game booking history so anyone who attended 2 games over the last how many years could have got a ticket.
plus a 2 game fa cup history got priority over a 5 game history which i cant see happening for the final.

i have a 9 league and 2 fa cup history am fairly confident of getting a ticket

It would be very unfair yet a gain to use FA Cup games as criteria.
I haven't been to one FA Cup game this season, but nine league games, and I've been a season ticket holder since 1984, but circumstances have meant me not having one for the past three seasons.
Surely the criteria (if it gets that far) should be the amount of games you've been to in total.
I didn't get to the Semi Final as punters with two FA Cup game attendance got in before me.
I don't hold out much hope.

Fortunately I'm a STH but reading some of the online posts on one agency site such as

From FA website…

The 2015 FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Aston Villa at Wembley Stadium will kick-off at 5.30pm on Saturday 30 May, with both clubs receiving allocations of 25,000 tickets.

It’s anticipated that a high percentage of Aston Villa supporters will be travelling into London via Wembley Stadium Station so the club will keep the West end of the stadium, their home for the 2-1 Semi-Final win over Liverpool last Sunday.

Arsenal fans will be situated in the East section of the stadium and their team will wear their away kit of yellow and blue, after Villa won the coin toss to wear their home colours of claret and blue.

Both BBC One and BT Sport 1 will broadcast The FA Cup Final live, while tickets across four different prices will be sold by both clubs - £50, £70, £90 and £120.

As well as the 50,000 ticket split between the two finalists, approximately 20,000 tickets will be distributed to volunteers through the football family which includes counties, leagues, local clubs and charities.

Football family tickets will also include the 92 Premier League and Football League clubs, plus another 134 Full Member clubs and all clubs that have reached the Third Round Proper of this season’s competition.

As The FA Cup Final is part of the Club Wembley membership package, 17,000 tickets will be used by Club Wembley members.

At least not the 22,500 some people were predicting.

When players, academy kids, club staff and corporate/box holders at Villa Park have taken their chunk the 25k might be nearer 22.5k though.

What's the consensus on here on whether the tickets will last to the 12th and 13th May?

I reckon I can get eligibility to the 11th of May now that 'future games' count in the booking history. It's smart how they've done that, will boost ticket sales until the end of the season.

I wish that was true. I don't think everyone who meets the 7/8 will get tickets, as there are now people adding to their # with future games... They'd have had to have done some very smart predicting of consumer behaviour to 'know' how many people *will* meet criteria.

As I say I hope you are right, but fear (for myself) not. I think it'll be a lot of people trying!!!

I guess it'll help the club with extra sales, and maybe less cynically could even help the team with extra backing by fans excited to be going to the final....

My brother in law with a reliable contact hasn't got in touch with me direct yet but has mentioned £650 for club Wembley to my dad.. Was hoping it'd be a lot less than that. Will try and find out more...

Be aware CW once their transfer window is open, can be reallocated by the owner even after you have electronically accepted and printed out your ticket. I don't know if this happens often, but having spoken to Wembley they confirmed this is possible, so important to trust the source.

Nice one that they are now allowing games that have been paid for but haven't been played to go to your criteria.
Didn't do that for the semi, Qpr game paid for but didn't count towards my kids booking criteria so had to stay up overnight after the Qpr game hotel etc to get all three together

I wouldn't have thought so, so I don't see a problem.
However, I am young at heart and naïve as a puppy.

We did the train thing for the SF - loved it!

if the club couldnt fulfil the criteria then why list it?

starting at 8+ tells its own story and why would they add the burnley game?

they got it bang on for the semi and dont forget a 2 game fa cup history got you a ticket and ultimately it came down to a 2 game booking history over previous seasons which is basically general sale.

can you imagine the ridicule the club would get if on the 10th may the club said sorry but we didnt count right and there are no more tickets?

its coming down to 7+ games because they can fulfil it even with chucking in the burnley game if they couldnt it would be 14 games then 12 etc. i expect it to drop down lower than 7 games

We have booked our train tickets (before they start putting them prices up) yet do not even know if we have the facility to purchase a ticket. I appreciate that a big % of match day staff have no association with Villa or even football and merely see it as a job but if staff are to have a ticket allocated to them they get one also - the ticket will be sold before the ink is dry in the majority of cases.

I am not sure of the chance for a ticket after 30 years working there  :'(

I really hope he is right as well!
I was part going on someone on a thread were told by the ticket office that how far it goes of the currently announced criteria depends on how many season ticket holders take up their option (but maybe that is wrong); and obviously it won't go anywhere near the semi criteria as there are simply a lot less tickets to go round.

I guess at some point it'll sell out within a criteria window.
Hope you get them ok Oswald & Class. And me  :o

The club got it spot on for the Olbion and semi with the criteria so can't see why they would put up a criteria for the final then say "sold out" with 3 windows left.
I got 3 cup games and 12 league games let mate go down and get my tickets for Blackpool and Bournemouth which would of put me 5 and 12 ah well

I agree and wasn't suggesting that would happen. I hope it goes beyond the current criteria, but based on all this seasons games counting, and another poster citing the club's uncertainty, feared it may not... Anyway us discussing it changes nowt; let's hope we get tix :)

They go on resale a month before the match. Try that with an ordinary ticket and it's called touting. With Club Wembley the FA take a cut of the sale price.

Correct Dave.  The  FA take a 15% handling fee.

I met a bloke I used to work with for coffee and he has a 10 year Club Wembley membership. As a lure to attract members they are allowed to trade their tickets via the club Wembley site , which is basically an auction site where the seller sets a price. The buyer pays an exorbitant fee but then attends the match or flogs the seat for an even higher price.

The bloke I know says tickets are going for up to £1500 ( but a few start at £379). He was coy about the cost but I heard a friend of his paid £50k for 10 years.

I think touts should be able to operate freely anyway. What's the diff between trading a car in at fords for £4000 and then seeing it on the forecourt for £6,999. Yet buy a ticket for £100 and sell it on for £300 and it's called touting.

Can't see the problem with selling on your own ticket if you aren't wanting to go but I personally couldn't ask for more than I paid for it.
As a young lad I used to go with a mate to Villa park on semi final day and on three occasions we were given tickets by touts at kick off time when they gave up hope of selling. I wonder if that ever happens today? We even got to see the biggest game ever played in Britain, Baggies V Small Heath.

No you right there mate but if you got a house on the market for 200k and someone wants its badly they will offer you 220k, which is called gazumping, but the house is still only worth 200k.
Exactly the same as with a ticket with a face value of £100 someone wants it badly enough they offer you £150 you gonna say no mate I only want £100.
so when a tout sees that ppl will pay over the odds cause they want a ticket badly enough it's wrong ?

So if a company made it their business to buy up all cars for sale and sell them for 3 times their value that would be ok by you, you'd happily pay it? That's what goes on with events tickets. Of course I'm simplifying, but with a bit more relevance to touting.

Club Wembley tickets that are face value say £150 but on the websites they are £750 but it's ok cause there on a website off a tout it's wrong?
Every single thing we buy is off a glorified tout be it tesco asda bp who buy something cheap and sell it on at a profit

Sorry Co82 but there is a world of difference between a trader buying goods cheap to sell on at a profit and how a ticket tout works. And your house and car sale examples are not the same thing either.
If you're looking for the equivalent of a tout think of someone who'd buy up every loaf during a bread shortage then stand outside the baker's selling them at 5 or 6 times the normal price.
I suppose it depends on your own social values as to whether you'd see him as an opportunist or a horrible greedy c**t.

We're not talking about the Football Family tickets, my post is about Club Wembley and re-sale through official channels. These are people who in effect have season tickets for football matches at Wembley but for some reason do not want to or are unable to attend the Final.

To me there's no difference between this and me re-selling my ST seat at Villa through Viagogo.

Totally see your view and this chat got a bit offline about cars etc but my original view is that if a tout wants to sell me a ticket for the final and it gets me in then he can name his price.
But you got to remember that for every ticket a tout has in his pocket there's someone who sold it him in the first place and that person might be the person you work with or sit next to at the game.

Surely the 3 blocks were your mate was referring to are just the blocks that were actually on sale today rather than just 3 blocks remaining in total?

Really gutted. Just spoke with the club re. my final ticket. In short, I have been to 9 games officially. I've actually been to 10 - my Dad bought me and him a ticket for the Leicester game but both tickets were assigned to his client reference.

For the semi I was permitted to use that as 'evidence' (their words not mine) - same surname, same address, and all of the other cup games are under mine and his reference. However this is not permitted for the final due to the availability.

I even have a picture of me at the game and the match stub.

So I'm not eligible until Tuesday. I completely get the criteria, and understand the strictness of their approach, but ultimately they shoudn't be selling multiple match tickets on one reference if this is the case.

I should've got a Southampton ticket now!

Been offered 2 tickets from a guy in ireland claiming he's been a ST holder for 7 years but has had to go away for work. The seats are block 135 row 27. anyone had any scam offers similar to this? he's only asking for face value. i'm nervous to part with the cash so wondered if anyone else has been scammed like this?

Ask him what his client ref numbers are and I'll find out if he's the real deal. And as payment for my good dead I have the other ticket. (Not really but I'll find out for you)

Going back to a question asked earlier, in the same boat live out of the UK now and coming back for the final, willing to pay a lump but what sites that are selling are any good, has anyone had any dealings with them, if so which ones, do not really want Club seats as they are neutral and that I will not be, so do not want to pay a lump and then get chucked out.

If you did get Club Wembley somehow, your best bet would be to try and swap with Arsenal fans in the ground that have found themselves in the Villa half, also there are loads of spare seats in there so walk round the concourse and if you can get past the stewards just plonk yourself down.

The websites I've looked into have very mixed reviews and I wouldn't feel confident that the tickets would turn up, If I was without a ticket I'd be prepared to pay a tout on the day.

Think thats the way I am going to have to go, leave it till the day and book the Claymore as a back up.
One other avenue, what were they like for letting in people who obviously had, had to much to drink in the semi, were they refusing them entry or allowing them in, might be another opportunity there.

Bloke I know who is a Club Wembley member reckons being in an expensive "neutral zone" means you wouldn't get chucked out because that would negate the club Wembley perk of reselling your ticket for big games. You just have to swallow the bitter pill that you may be surrounded by opposing fans.

I managed to get two tickets in the prawn sandwich section by the subs bench at Wembley ( the seats opposite the cameras which are empty for the first ten minutes of each half). I gave them to two mates ( they are pro Villa neutrals if that makes sense, and they come to all London games with Chico and me) who jumped up when we scored and they were immediately approached by 3 stewards who told them if they jumped up again they would be thrown out. Different story there apparently.

Tickets for the final are expected to sell out on Wednesday, a date when they will be available to fans with a 7+ game booking history this season.

Any extra criteria will be communicated here on Wednesday if there is availability.

I rang the ticket office today to check everything was working for me to book online tomorrow. I live in Brum and would go and queue overnight if necessary but the guy who I spoke to said the sale was going to go to Wednesday so I would 'probably' be ok to book online.

Somebody brought 3 or 4 of those disposable bbq's and was cooking bacon sarnies at about 7am in the smoking shed. Not sure if they were selling them though.

Just checked the ticket office online and there's currently 11 blocks with tickets currently available. Also looks as though they've released blocks 533 and 534 which weren't available earlier this morning.

Yes I looked first thing and had a problem purchasing online. When I eventually got back on 534 was just released and green so maybe somewhere near the front. Couldn't get coach tickets so presumed they were sold out but after ringing for further 3 hrs and getting thro, I was told they were only selling to people with confirmed ticket purchases. 3 purchased on coach 33 , so all sorted and happy

If you have the option I'd reccommend trying the phone and the internet, I got into work early and nicked everyones phones and set them up for re-dial, I practiced for 20 minutes at 8.40 to see how quickly I could use all phones at once. I also logged in to the website at 8.15 and kept clicking refresh, it let me in just before 9 and, having ordered online only once before, had booked and paid for 6 tickets by 9.05.

Good luck.

It'll be interesting to see how the club deal with it when it approaches a sell out. Will they suspend online and phone sales at some point to ensure those queueing at the ground are all looked after? It doesn't affect me I've got mine, just wondering having read the stories of those who queued for hours today.
As a kid I queued all Sunday morning from Witton Island, up around the Holte pub and back down Trinity Road for LCSF tickets v ManU and at that age it felt like I was there for a week. When I queued for 5hrs for the 2000 final I thought then that it's ridiculous fans were being put through it in this (that) day and age - now another 15 years on I'm staggered how many people have been buying in person from the ticket office, when it's been so easy to book online (certainly during the season ticket holder windows anyway).

From AVFC.co.uk

There are a limited number of FA Cup final tickets remaining for our meeting with Arsenal.

They will go on sale from 9am tomorrow morning (Wednesday May 14) to supporters who have attended six or more home or away games [in the Barclays Premier League and/or FA Cup] throughout the 14-15 season.

Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis and will be available in person from the Villa Village Ticket Office or by calling the Consumer Sales Department on 0800 612 0970.

Please note queuing for tickets at Villa Park does not necessarily guarantee a ticket.

At least one member of this forum is flying over from Australia for the game and the Club Wembley option is the only one available to him without resorting to a tout outside the ground. Now that's what I call a real effort.

It's a strange market for the tickets though. I would have anticipated that Arsenal with so many season tickets holders unable to get tickets would have made the price of the neutral tickets even higher than they are. I know if half our season ticket holders were unable to get tickets there would be a right price war going on.

Out of interest just worked it out, bearing in mind I have a ST and had to pay separately for FA Cup games (which I have not included here).

Not everyone had the foresight and vision of myself to buy tickets and attend every round (bar Leicester game where I just bought 2 tickets and proceeded to go on holiday). All joking aside , even after demolishing Blackpool at home with a solitary 93rd minute winner who in their right mind saw us making the final !!

Silhill I start from Seeb, but then to Abu Dahbi, Frankfurt, then Heathrow.
Will not get into I am better fan than yooow Luke as to the person who has 5 match history, but done plenty of years stood / sat on the terraces, the ticket was sourced, offered and I paid what I thought was value, that persons got a right to do what they want with the ticket, if someone is willing to meet their terms for selling.
Trip all in all without refreshments coming in close to 1500 quid, with flights, hotels and trains, but I live in the middle of nowhere in the desert, so when I want to treat myself I can, thats the balance.

It's probably that. In this day and age when big games are on the tele every few days there's nothing special any more about going to a cup final unless you support one of the teams involved, so why would people pay £90 or so for it.
Tickets offered by County FA's to leagues and clubs state which end they are in (Villa or Arsenal) so any not taken up could only be given to that club to sell, not 400 to each in this case.

Whoever buys tickets from the County FAs has to provide name and address details and keep the ticket for a year after the event as a way of proving they didn't sell it on. So if you buy a ticket way above face value it's best to report that to the FA (after you've used it) so they can trace who it was issued to and bar that organisation from receiving tickets in the future. Every little helps and more tickets will go to the competing teams eventually.

I never knew they were in each club's section - I assumed they were in the middle.

I've seen the letters County FA's send out to leagues and they always state which club's supporters the tickets will be in with. Maybe they are in a central block and anything to the west of the halfway line will have "Villa" on it.
I suppose it's not just about who you sit with but where you enter the stadium and the refreshment/toilet areas too. The entrance for all the blocks in the north west quarter of the top tier for instance is at the west end of the ground.

That's interesting; I never know that. I always thought that they were in some unsegregated bit along the side.

Class of 82, no that was not me mate, could not get back for semi due to work commitments and the wife saying something about my balls on a platter, so work saved me from an improvised bit of surgery.

Thank me later.

A long shot I know but if anyone knows of a client ref with 5 games I could have for tomorrow I would be extremely extyremely grateful. I have a mate who's been to a few games but didn't have the games assigned to a ref no. Yours in hope, villabear. Mods feel free to move if appropriate.

The f.a. Seem to be able to get away with selling tickets at inflated prices block 545 v Liverpool £43.
Same block v arsenal £70

A lot of blocks have two prices as far as I can tell. When I got mine I had the choice of £70 or £90 in the lower tier. It just depends where you are. The less expensive ones are closer to the front.

Post by: class-of-82 on May 21, 2015, 08:02:18 PM
Why are the cheaper ones at the front, I was 2nd row from the front for the semi and the seat was the dogs bollocks.
Also when I was queing up on Monday the 11th for tues opening a guy asked some villa youth players who was picking up there tickets what price they was and where they said they all get £50 tickets which are right at the back

Were you on the 2nd row of the upper tier?

For the lower tier blocks the cheaper seats are at the front and dearer seats further back. But for the upper tier it's the other way around.

Nobody stepped over me, lol. I flattened the girl against the window when she unlocked the door, (at 8.07 btw, fair play).
I reckon every one there when the doors opened, would have got one.
Also need to say big up to the chap from Halesowen, who'll remain nameless, for answering my appeal on Thursday, to queue up on their behalf, in exchange for a 5+ ref, they weren't going to use. After a conversation, he sent me two refs, on trust, which did us both a massive favour, resulting in two tickets for us this morning.
Me and one son already had tickets, and the thought of leaving the other lad behind was killing me, but thanks to the kindness of another Villain, we're now all going to Wemberlee.

From AVFC.co,uk

Villa's additional FA Cup final allocation has now sold out.

We will have 25,000 fans cheering us on at Wembley as we look to get the better of Arsenal in the showpiece on Saturday May 30, kick-off 5.30pm.

Villa have beaten Blackpool, Bournemouth, Leicester, West Brom and Liverpool to reach this stage of the world's most prestigious cup competition.

The last time we emerged victorious was 1957 and Tim Sherwood is eager to lead his team to honours as the campaign draws to a close.

Thanks to all our fans for their co-operation during this very busy time for the ticket office.

Enjoy your day at Wembley.

We ask that you don't now call-up looking to purchase tickets for the FA Cup final.

We thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

My sons ticket (under 18 ) shows as "FULL PRICE 120.00" on the ticket. Exactly as mine. Does that mean it's 2 adult tickets ?

IIRC concessions are at the discretion of the club, Wembley only supply us with full price tickets.

This is the first time at trying social media to source a cup final ticket and i can't believe the number of scammers out there. None of them want to meet up to do the exchange even though i offer to travel to them, and some of them were using the same photo of a ticket as others.

It's strange how everyone selling is selling on behalf of someone else, like it's not my fault the price is so high. I ask if i can be put in touch with the ticket holder which of course is met with silence.
