Title: Fixture changes for May 2015
Post by: spangley1812 on April 02, 2015, 03:30:57 PM
SKY & BT have decided what games they are showing up until the last weekend of fixtures in May now

From what I can see our only change is that the game v Southampton away on Sat 16th is now a 12:45pm ko and is now live on BT Sport..........

bit stupid isn't it? Why would they schedule early games at places like Newcastle or Southampton unless the opponents are close by. Or maybe set a max journey time of 2 hours.

Because we're one of the closest grounds to Southampton.

Surely there are any number of teams in London closer to Southampton? Birmingham is about 140 miles from Southampton I think. London is closer than that. And ultimately the point I was making is that an early game in Southampton or Newcastle is a pain for most travelling fans to get to, so why have an early game at those locations at all? With the most obvious exceptions being Newcastle v Sunderland or Boro for example.

Have a look at the map. The four south/west London ones fair enough but if you're a Spurs or West Ham supporter you'd probably take longer to get to Southampton than we would. I suppose the 12.45 kick-offs have to be shared round; it's not just a case of dealing with one club in isolation. And we'd be leaving later for a Spouthampton 12.45 than some clubs  would for a 3pm.

Ha. No I could have got a flight from Manchester airport to Southampton airport for about £100 return. Considering it's a 12 hour return train journey I was going to do that.

The 12.45 KO has put a stop to that.

I bet your return train fare wouldn't be far off £100 either from Manchester.

Luckily for me I am based in Brighton right now so Southampton is right near me so that kick off time shouldn't effect me going, but I feel a bad for many of you coming from Birmingham.  This really does suck for fans ::)

Seems an odd game to show too.  Saints are starting to look like a long shot for top four and by then their hope should be all but dead and we might still need the points, but then again might not.

On a different note it is two days after my dissertation is due, so a win would be a great way to celebrate! :)

I was thinking of staying over on the Saturday night for this one.

Now its an early kick off it might be worth driving down after work and staying the Friday before as well.
