The time has come, I've decided to take my 6 year old to his first game against Everton. To make life easier I will drive and for the first time EVER I will go without drink, sad but true. I'll be coming from London and needing easy access to M6, we had a coach for Swansea and with the Armada pub exit to the M6 closed was a nightmare to get away. Does anyone park at the King Edward VI School? I understand it opens 2 hours prior to the game which sounds ok but does it take a while to get 200 cars away?
I've been on the OS but If anyone has any other secure options please let me know, I won't bore you with the details but my son gets tired very easily so anything close is good.
Ta.

Halfway up Holborn Hill mate past swan and mitre, Ginge has his car park, £5 , very secure, easy away to m6 .
-
Kingthing: if you park at King Ed's turn left when you come out of the car park on to Sutton St, left again on to Victoria Road and that takes you to Park Circus - only a few hundred yards really- first left gets you on the A38 (M) and links to M6 South...but take care getting the right lane and... it'll be busy!

It's a 10-15 minute walk to the ground mate but I find it's worth it as you miss all the traffic afterwards. There is plenty of side street parking up there too but I think it was reported on here there'd been a recent spate of car crime so the £5 is sensible.

the old Ruskin Hall on Victoria Rd is also a fiver and secure parking.
Why do you need M6 to get back to London? surely M40? Especially to Kingston. Take the A38 and if you know the area get on the M42 from South Birmingham. Be on the M25 in 45 mins- 1 hour tops.
-
Good call peter w...just trying to get him away from away from VP asap and heading south...didn't clock the Kingston thing.
-
i think you would be better off parking by ruskin hall for a fiver
come of the M6 at junction 6 , take A38 m , then leave at first exit (perry barr) and turn right at the island and its on your left
Then after the match
from there its easy to get on the A38 m aston expressway that leads to the M6 south or M6 south to M42 south to M40 south
just remember you can not get on the motorway from underneath at spaghetti junction , (M6 Junction 6)
you have to get the A38 M aston expressway to get on the motoway
-
Sorry, yes do want M42 and M40 but M6 first to get to it.

Pretty much the route I was suggesting above conman...just from a different parking place.
Great minds and that...

conman's and my directions are for you then Kingthing!

King thing are you coming up the m40 from west London
If so stay on m42 towards m5 when on m5 North take the a43 Stay in left hand lane up to the island and take a43 bham straight down and left at Alexander stadium turning into church lane, to the end then left, straight up and right down the Side of the cemetery and park under the flyover or further down towards vp if you earlier.
I do it for most home games from London,m25/m40 jct to m42 jct1 is 94 miles from there it will take you about 30 minutes to villa park.
Entirely up to you though mate
-
Thank you all. As usual i'll meticulously plan every route and every parking option and at the last minute do something totally different. As long as my son says "Dad, when can we come again" I'd gladly walk back to Kingston.

the a43 runs from near oxford to kettering
or if your on about the a34 there is no access to it from the m5

Anyone park their car at the Ruskin hall 'car park'? figured it'll be easier to get away for the M6 there rather than stuck in the King Edward School car park against the blues.
-
There's free parking at Star City on match days. Bit of a walk but plenty of free parking and loads of food/drink/entertainment before and after the match.
-
should be easier to get away from now on and less gridlock on lichfield road
as thimble mill lane is now open again
and so are the 2 slip roads to the Motorway
meaning you can get on the M6 north or south from lichfield road under spaghetti junction / salford circus by power league /the armarda
-
Thanks both, didn't realise M6 junction was now open Conman, bit of a walk to sacred heart from that end but suppose i need to make my mind up.
Thanks again.
