Title: F.A. Cup Tickets
Post by: tbiddulph on March 26, 2015, 10:53:58 AM
I am intrigued about the way the tickets for the upcoming semi-final at Wembley are being sold.

According to the ticket office, AVFC have been allocated the West of the stadium excluding the centre clocks in the range 201-252 - which I think are 'Club Wembley' tickets.

Season ticket holders with the best history e.g 10 years plus, were given first refusal for tickets starting on Wednesday 18th March and as time progresses people with less history and attendance qualify to buy tickets. However, the blocks being offered initially are the either the furthest away from the pitch - Blocks 501 - 526 or the blocks adjacent to the corner flags - blocks 137-138 etc; The best seating - blocks 123-125 and142-144 are being left until last. I understand this will mean that the best seats in the house are likely to be offered to the fans with the least history.

Is this fair?

Terry

According to the ticket office it's the way Wembley have released seats to Villa, a few blocks at a time.

At least it means the loyal don't have to sit with the jonnycomelatelies 😉

I have previously spoken to the TO regarding the way that ticket sales for away games are handled.

I discovered that being first to book doesn't get you the best seat. Seats are allocated based on what ticket is next on the pile/list.

The same might be happening for the Semi

Does anyone know why there are 2 different price categories within the same block? Eg Block 134 has both £53 and £43 seats.

Would the cheaper ones be right at the front?

Just guessing here, but with up to 70,000 seats usually available for the two clubs in semi-finals there are another 7,000 to be allocated once the clubs have sold their initial 31,500. Therefore for segregation purposes it would make sense if those seats were the centre blocks on the south side. So if we played Blackburn and they couldn't sell theirs we'd could be given all those blocks to sell with no concern over segregation. If it's Liverpool we'd both get up to the half-way line and 35,000 tickets each eventually.

Back I imagine.

I got the cheapest possible seats to the last semi and was on the very last row of the top tier.

I know what you mean but 134 is the lower tier, therefore the better seats are towards the back rather than down at pitch level. I agree that for the upper tier, you'd be better off nearer the front.

Working in a box office I know that when artists do a special 'pre sale' for those on their mailing list that it doesn't get you the best seats. An example being a Squeeze/John Cooper Clarke gig we'll be putting on sale tomorrow, people on the Squeeze mailing list were able to book yesterday via one of the ticket agencies, not only do they not get to select their seats but they also have to pay the extortionate booking fees charged by Ticketmaster or whoever.

Maybe they're reasoning that anyone who has bought a season ticket for the last 10 years is obviously willing to put up with any old shite, so they'll be happy in any seat.

Is it fair that someone who's only had a ST for 14/15 and has attended all the FA cup matches gets priority over ST holders with 10+ seasons but has attended fewer  FA cup matches, say 2 or 3? I've had my ST well over 10 seasons and find this crazy that one season ST holders get this much priority. Really rewards loyalty...

Yes it's fair and I have been an ST holder for longer than I care to remember. It's always about future and a 14/15 only ST holder who has been to all FA cup games should be ahead of those who have not.

Can someone fix the typo on the name of the thread its really bugging me.
Also the point most posters here seem to have missed is that the club clearly stated that all those with eligible criteria can get tickets in the proscribed timeframe, they are just spreading the day to avoid a rush.

Typo fixed, and yes that is exactly the point. I had to wait until yesterday to get mine as my nephew (10+ years, one FA Cup game) didn't become eligible until then while my dad (first time half season ticket holder, four FA Cup games) was eligible the second or third day of sales. If people were missing out entirely then it would be a different matter but supply to ST holders far exceeds demand in the first instance.

Also got our tickets yesterday. Not exactly a great choice. No Cat. 1 tickets available and it was either in the gods (Mrs Javu is not keen on heights), tucked away behind the corner flag or behind the goal. Went for behind the goal.

Might get on the telly, I suppose.

If its Villa v Blackburn, we should contact the Blackburn supports and club together to buy some advertising at Wembley. Something nice and subtle, like Nelson from the Simpsons pointing at a photo of Steeeeeevieeeee Geeeeee

And there will still be more tickets that ST holders. And still there will still be panic/complaints because someone can buy a ticket before someone else can. If you know you qualify, I don't get why it matters to some what day they can buy a ticket. Just be happy we're at Wembley and you will be going.

It's a possibility. When Wigan played Millwall in 2013 about 6K 'neutral' tickets were issued as Wigan couldn't sell them. Whether they'd have offered them to their opponents if they could have sold is a bit of a guess, but Millwall only just about sold their allocation.
For the final Citeh got an initial 25K, and then a further 7K, Wigan asked for 21K which was then increased to 25K.

Those are the only examples I can think of where extra tickets were available at the new Wembley.

If those season ticket holders who qualify to buy earlier had a full choice of the tickets available, then those season ticket holders who qualify later would have a worse choice of tickets by the time they were able to buy.

BUT - Wembley releases a block at a time, and doesn't even release the best placed seats first. There is no disadvantage to qualifying later, other than having to wait a bit longer.

Nothing wrong with that - they are what they are. Four thousand regulars and 25k who'll watch them in big games. It's a smaller scale version of us - about 32k regular but if we play Reading in the final we could sell Wembley out twice over.

I've no doubt Blackburn would sell all their Final tickets but not sure about the Semis. We outnumbered the similarly-sized Bolton about 50-15,000 in 2000. It was a while ago though. Anyone any ideas if Wigan sold all their tickets? If they did then I'm sure Blackburn, as a much bugger club, would be able to.

There were more than 15K Bolton. From what I remember they sold nearly all their allocation.

And from a page or two back

If Bolton sold out their allocation, it was only cos they had a much smaller allocation than us. There were only 62,000 there. I remember a couple of scallywag Bolton fans had managed to get hold of a loudspeaker after the game and were shouting "are there any other Bolton fans 'ere?"

I also remember the pop group Five driving past on their band coach and getting shitloads of abuse. Felt mildly guilty about joining in when I found out one of them was a Villa fan.

As long as you both qualify and have all the relevant info you'll be fine. Leeg is getting mine and his together next week when we both qualify.

What info will they need PWS?
I have name, date of birth, address, ST reference number, stand/block/row/seat but am still paranoid they won't let me have one!

That should be all you need. It's all Leeg has of my info and he's ordered us tickets for each round no problem. Although the plum forgot to stick Leicester on my reference, better hope that doesn't come back to haunt him!!!!

My mate has four league references to his account + L. Orient in the League Cup. AVFC say this game doesn't count. How unfair - anyone who was subject to that deserves a medal never mind being credited with his attendence at that fixture.

Is that right? I always thought it was around 21k.

From the FA website…

The Football Association has confirmed that both Arsenal and Hull City will receive 25,000 tickets for next month’s FA Cup Final and that prices will start at £45.
FA Cup Final tickets will be available to supporters across four price categories for the game, which takes place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 17 May (kick-off 5pm).
It is the third year running that prices have remained the same.
Tickets will be sold via the two clubs and will be available at £45, £65, £85 and £115.
As well as the 50,000 ticket split between the two Finalists, approximately 20,000 tickets will be distributed to volunteers through the football family which includes counties, leagues, local clubs and charities.
Football family tickets will also include the 92 Premier League and Football League clubs, plus another 134 Full Member clubs and all clubs that have reached the Third Round Proper of this season’s competition.
As The FA Cup Final is part of the Club Wembley membership package, 17,000 tickets will be used by Club Wembley members.

Can you take stubs down to VP and get them retrospectively added to your client ref?

My Dad and I have been to every cup game this year, he hasn't been down the Villa for 15 odd years until the cup this year, so probably doesn't even have a client reference number.

If they're both assigned under your ref, you should be able to set one up for your Dad and then transfer them across

yeah we dont want to go back the dark ages of queueing all night
i remember 1977 ,,had been to all the home games but didnt buy programmes
and ticket allocation criteria was the number of programme vouchers you had
ended up queueing all night when they went on general sale
only for loads of people pushing in at the front about 8 am
turnstile opened at 9am to sell tickets ,,,,,,,,all gone within 20 minutes
i ended up hitch hiking down there ,,,,bunging the turnstile bloke about 50p
and jumping the train back

Got online very early after nine, picked tickets for block required got to check out and then received error message and got kicked off to start queue all over again. From then on the problems started.
Selected block number - didn't work; selected best available didn't work
Got on phone and got connected a second time and again I just got cut off after another hour queueing!
Finally after about 5 hours allowed me to select a block online but only tickets left were category 4 behind goal - I have sat in witton / trinity for 40 years - I do not enjoy watching game from behind goal as you see a totally different game. But beggars can't be choosers and after the marathon today no way was I waiting and having another go tomorrow. And also I tried getting on after midnight last night and it would not let me choose then so I assumed online would not work until after 9.00 this morning. But one big bonus is I have the cheapest tickets which will save me money towards the tickets for the final!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  £33 for a semi-final amazing!

just got my tickets, took 20 minutes on the phone which isn't too bad at all. Was trying online at the same time while I was waiting in the queue but kept saying no tickets found in that price category.

Not sure how many tickets they sell in each category though on each day, got ours before 10 this morning, no category 1 tickets left and couldnt do 5 category 2 tickets together along the side so had to settle for tickets in lower tier behind the goal.

Please let all the action take place down our end when we are attacking that way - and a boring non-eventful 45 minutes for the other half when we are already 3 up!!!

Received the actual tickets last night. They are for:-

Aston Villa V Blackburn/Liverpool

I've never seen a ticket like that before.

Just imagine it is like a concert where the tickets are printed before the support act have been announced and it says "Plus Special Guests" who always seemed to be Ocean Colour Scene back in the day.

You can't transfer tickets to other references.
That's interesting.  My son has been to all 4 FA Cup games but I've always bought his (and other family members') tickets in the past and the importance of assigning tickets to someone's client reference number never really registered with me before, so the tickets have always stayed allocated to client reference number.  I'm a ST holder and have also been to all 4 games along with my two ST mates, so we already have our semi final tickets.  When I called the ticket office to book our tickets, I asked the CSR whether it was possible to allocate tickets purchased to client reference numbers retrospectively, in order to try and get a ticket for my son.  She said that if they could discern a clear pattern from my booking history then it might be possible to do so, but that I would have to wait until the "attended all 4 FA Cup games" window opens before calling up.  I subsequently had this reiterated by another CSR when I rang up to book the coach travel for us a couple of days later.  Now, it could have been that they were just trying to get me off the phone as they were busy but I am definitely going to give it a punt when that window opens.  No harm in trying - they can only say no.

I'm having to wait until tomorrow to buy my ticket as my mate has a had a season ticket on the holte end for four years but not been to an FA Cup game this season. I've had a look online and it looks like almost all the tickets are gone and by the time we're able to buy tickets tomorrow afternoon it seems there will definitely not be seats together. How can this be possible if there's a 32,000 allocation and only around 18,000 season ticket holders? Do they make more sections available each day? I'm a bit worried we won't get a ticket at all and as we both live in Cardiff we aren't going to be able to make it to B6 to buy over the counter. Is anyone else worried?

The general consensus is that more blocks become available with every new criteria.

Thanks. That's what I thought although it doesn't seem any extra sections were available this afternoon so those allowed to buy first thing seem to have an advantage.

I'm in the same boat have to wait till the 8th to get my kids tickets can get mine before but gonna wait and get all three together.
We have been to 11 home games and 2 cup games but my kids have only had a ref number since the Leics cup game.
So the ticket office can see that I have always purchased 3 tickets for 11-12 home games every season.
Can you remember who you spoke to to tell you that

Paid for ours last Tuesday - still no sign of the postman with his machine to sign for registered deliveries.

Just thought of missed opportunity to wind up Baggies fans - could have sent a recorded delivery yesterday with fake Wembley tickets in to arrive today.

EDIT : Postman has just been and tickets are here. So it took 8 days from when we went to the ticket office in person (if that helps others waiting)

Ordered mine over the phone and asked for details as my mate's disabled daughter can't cope with lower positioned seating - I was told they couldn't give any details about block, seat numbers etc but that the seats would be fine for her. Other people on here seem to have actually selected which block and seats they wanted - is that an option that is only available online? If fans can select specific seats online surely the ticket office can see on their system where the seats are and pass on to me some pretty basic info.
I have had similar when booking away games though...unless price is affected by upper/lower tiers like Everton.

Then when the booking was complete it gave me my specific seat details in my booking confirmation (It was the standard booking confirmation you get when booking tickets online). Which I took a screen shot of.  Those details in turn matched my ticket details.

Update: I rang the ticket office this lunchtime (timing a lull before the next tranche of eligible callers!) and got through quite quickly. I said that people who'd applied after me had received tickets and even though I applied on the first morning I hadn't received mine. Apparently they're printing the tickets off in blocks and then have to do further checks before posting. Mine was actually printed off on the 26th and still may take a few days to come through, but if it doesn't come through by the Friday before the game they'll do a reprint (which I'd obviously have to go and collect), but that put my mind at rest. As ever, the ticket office people are first rate.

They are available this morning to supporters who have a 4+ game booking history for the 2014-15 FA Cup campaign while from 2pm they are on sale to fans who have a 3+ game booking history for the 2014-15 FA Cup campaign

To be honest anywhere is a decent view at Wembley, in 2010 I bought cat 2 behind the goal for Utd game which was good but Chelsea I went Cat 3 upper tier on the bend and was a much better view of the game for less money. Last time I remember they had something on the Wembley website where you could put in the block you were sitting and it gave you the view of the pitch from there if that helps.

You have to wait until the club announces how they are going to distribute the remaining tickets which I am guessing will be late next week/early part of the week after

This. It worked for me today when I explained about Freddy not having every one assigned to his client reference number. The operator trawled through my booking history and sorted it for me.

Rudy65 I had a similar problem and ticket office were very helpful. I had bought cup tickets under my reference and not uses my junior ST ref. However the ticket office recognised that as I had bought 2 tickets for two cup matches, one junior one normal , than juniot tickets can count towards status for semi final allocation.

I reckon we've sold about 23k assuming 18k season ticket, 1k Villa cash, and people who could be arsed to go to Blackpool, Bournemouth and Leicester say 4k.

They confirmed in the initial announcement that everyone in those criteria listed above will get a ticket so that's another 9k tickets for everyone on Tue/weds/thu. After that who knows......

So yes, it's because you didn't get one.

I think it's fine. It was advertised as priority for tickets and that's what people who paid up front are getting. There will be very few with Villa Cash who aren't spending a chunk with the club, which would have been the reason for getting it. No one knew it would be such high priority for tickets, and I doubt many/anyone in the summer was thinking about Wembley priority as a reason to get one.

And yes I subscribed, purely because of the cash back. QPR will be my 14/15th game so far and by the end of the season I will have spent a chunk in the club shop.

nothing to do with me not getting one .
I think its wrong/unfair that someone can sign up for £10 do nothing but sit in it & get a semi final ticket over someone who has gone to 4 games .

As i said it needs reviewing .. Not stopping altogether

I very much doubt there would be more than a few dozen max who signed up and have then spent no further money with the club. I'd imagine the vast majority with one have a similar record to mine. It defeats the main point of buying one to not then be spending money. I only know one other person with a VC card, it's not like there's 1000s with one.
And it probably will be changed slightly as I bet there will be a lot more wanting to buy them next season.

I'm in same position but they said no to me on phone and email. Lad has been to 4 cup games but only two are in his name, other two in my name. Clearly they were for him as U8 tickets but they said can't alter once game has been played. Did you go in person? Can still get him one Tuesday but it will no doubt be a lot busier then. Wish the ticket office will make up its mind.
Me and my kids both adults have been to 2 cup games and 11 league games so far this season. We all have our own ref number but I always book the tickets under my ref. when told my day was tues and my kids weds for tickets I asked ticket office surely you can see for the last 4-5 seasons you can see I always book 3 tickets for at least 11-12 home games surely 1 game can be transferred to there ref to allow me to get them before the Qpr game. They sad no so now I gotta stay up book hotel and back early doors to get all 3 together on weds.
Yet some of the previous posts say different maybe I'm missing the point put me right guys if I am

They know from their system that the allocation up to 5 matchday tickets will or could sell xxxx amount of tickets providing maximum take up.

You will have a certain % of ST holders who won't travel and people who can't attend on a Sunday. It is interesting that the Villa set a ballot for tickets that asked the question 'have you held a season ticket in the last five years?' this going back to the 2010/11 season when O'Neill left and ST fell when TSM1 was appointed. ST have fallen since.

Are the club going to offer the option of tickets to pre ST holders as an incentive to encourage future take up?

When you look at our attendances and think how many folks have only been to 4 or less, i'd have thought that there would be more than 5/6K left. They won't go to from 5 games to general sale, it will just go to lower criteria, maybe end up at "varied history" like it did for the QF.

i dont think it did against man u as they had fans in every stand
and the club were happy to sell tickets in home areas to anyone
they could have checked that these people only buy one ticket a season and thats villa at home to man u
but they didnt
then the police got involved and forced them to change the way they sell tickets
so the varied history rule was used for the first time against west brom

I reckon that it might be as straightforward as at least two games against different opposition, so basically selling to anybody who isn't buying for a) the first time or b) just Villa vs Liverpool every year for the last ten seasons.

Folks, with 32k tickets and only somewhere around 20k season ticket holders. Can anyone explain to me why we've gone through this slow ticket allocation process ?

Couldn't they have all been offered to ANY current season ticket holder from Day 1, give em a week to get through that lot then stick the remaining batch on general sale ?

I mean, it's just over a week away now and the criteria is still in place. Can't believe we haven't gone down to GS or even just a previous booking history yet

It wouldn't surprise me if it puts off a load of floating supporters bothering seeing as they wont have much time to organise stuff

If they had been offered to ANY current season ticket holder from day 1, it would have been an absolute nightmare to get through. I know for some it was anyway but anyone who's got the criteria and want's go can go.

Still seems ridiculously slow to me. I mean with online sales and over the counter sales it can't take that long surely ?

I believe that current ST holders had until April 1st, it's now April 9th and i think it's still some random criteria

Don't get me wrong, I've decided I can't be arsed like most folks I know but i'm sure they could've given folks more time to get their travel / maybe hotels planned than this

More time? They've had over a month. spare a thought for whoever wins tonight. They've got just over a week and half to sort out their ticket.

Villa will discover this evening who we face in the FA Cup semi-final.

Blackburn take on Liverpool at Ewood Park tonight and one of those sides will take on Tim Sherwood's lions on Sunday April 19, with a 3pm kick-off.

Criteria for buying tickets for our Wembley encounter changes again on Thursday.

Tickets will be available from 9am to supporters who have a 5+ game booking history this season.

That includes our Final Five offer - despite the fact that some of those games - against Everton, West Ham and Burnley - have yet to be played.

We can also confirm a new criteria for Friday, in addition to previously released dates.

Then, tickets become available to fans with a 4+ game booking history.

OK - have you, or anyone else who can't be arsed, got a spare booking reference for 4 or 5 attendances or a 'final five' booking deal?

thank you

Not many seats left by the look of it either

Took me eight minutes to get my two online. Was on the redial as well, which just kept ringing out and going to an engaged tone.

Category two seats in 542. Should be front half of the upper tier, close to behind the goal. Very happy with that.

I'm in the upper tier, block 545 row 5, so should have a good view and close to the corner flag. Seems like I'll have a good view so I'm happy. Good luck to everyone else trying to get them now.

Ive been trying to get through to ticket office for 3 hours now and just getting engaged tone starting to think this number is just an old handset off the hook in the data room.

I tried the consumer sales number on Tuesday about 50 times between 9am - 2.30pm and was constantly engaged and online said didnt have correct privelages. Finished work at 2.30pm and went straight to the ground and got served within 5 minutes in the wembley que (there was s seperate que for QPR tickets). The lady who served me said that although the Swansea game was showing on people's online account it wasnt showing on there system, thats why a lot of people are getting the incorrect privelages message.

Ticket criteria for Villa v Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final changes again on Monday.

From 9am, they will be available to any supporter with a 3+ match 2014-15 season booking history.

Any remaining tickets for the Wembley encounter will then go on sale the following day to fans with a 2+ 2014-15 season booking history.

Please be aware that tickets will only be available in person from the Villa Village Ticket Office next week, subject to availability.

The Ticket Office will be open from 9am-6pm on Monday and Tuesday.

Tickets will be issued at time of purchase on a first-come first-served basis.

All those purchased before Monday will be delivered to supporters by Recorded Delivery.

The Ticket Office will be open this weekend on Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

Anyone with previous criteria eligibility can purchase their semi-final tickets then - as well as tickets for our home games with Everton and West Ham.

I'm not sure what their motivation is regarding only selling them in person. My mate has a three game reference, but won't be able to physically go down to Villa Park until Friday afternoon, by which time they will have presumably sold out. I'm not sure why they won't let him book one over the phone and collect them at the office on Friday.

I still don't understand the in-person only criteria. According to the Royal Mail website, it costs £6.45 to send a letter guaranteed next-day, special delivery. There must be loads of people who'd rather spend the extra few quid, than have to take a day off work or travel miles. If I hadn't already got mine, it would be a right ball-ache to use up holiday and travel from London and back.
Title: Re: F.A. Cup Tickets

It's probably because even items sent Special Delivery get lost. And it's worth remembering they will still probably be selling tickets Weds or even Thurs, so easier to just make it a blanket requirement that it's in person only now.

i really need to be in & out at 9am as far as possible, because (I am guessing like most people) I am supposed to be at work tomorrow.

I can't afford to be iat the back of a queue of 500 people for the best part of the morning!

See - even for people that don't live miles away - announcing last thing in Friday that you will meet the criteria first thing on Monday isn't really that helpful.

Think someone posted before, some of the very best seats will end up with fans who very rarely attend. Loyal week in week out fans aren't necessarily getting the better seats .

Think I'm right in saying that the lower tier is pretty much sold out. The upper seems to be being released anti-clockwise, with blocks 528-533 yet to come on sale at all. Which would tally with the reports of 4000 tickets left.

Every block is red that isn't for sale, even if zero seats have been sold yet in that block. The only blocks that aren't red are the blocks available on that day.

This is what it looked like on the day me and Leeg got our tickets.

What time do you think people wil start queuing in the morning?

i really need to be in & out at 9am as far as possible, because (I am guessing like most people) I am supposed to be at work tomorrow.

I can't afford to be iat the back of a queue of 500 people for the best part of the morning!

See - even for people that don't live miles away - announcing last thing in Friday that you will meet the criteria first thing on Monday isn't really that helpful.

people have been queing from as early as 5am for previous days sales according to the security guard on duty for 3  cup critiria day.
If you wana be first in & out id make a flask up & be there for 5 at the latest.

I'll be there straight from my nightshift!
I'll be at villa park by 5am and im not even getting a ticket for myself.......The lad is having it.
I always buy 3 tickets for games but never assign them to anybody but me.
If that means I only get one ticket then so be it!
Up the Villa!

Waiting on a couple of normal tickets and keep hearing different stories regarding sales, one mate went down the office yest and told there's only a couple of thousand left, and another told there was 6k, so who knows!

Been offered a club Wembley ticket for the final, should we get there. Of course it's worth it if you get to be there and you wouldn't get a ticket otherwise. Add a couple of grand (in Aussie dollars) for flights and it will still be a bargain to exorcise the ghost of 2000. Worst day of my life!

At Villa Park now. There's a guy with his young son in a sleeping bag on the step, & another half dozen of us staying in our cars till it looks busier.

Is it just me or do folk feel Villa have really dragged the ticket sales out a bit? There'll still be tickets on sale come Thursday and Friday at this rate when there are fans champing at the bit waiting to but them and arrange travel etc.
Liverpool appear to have sold all there's online only in the space of three days, so is it that our online ticketing system isn't any good or what? How would we have coped had we needed a replay with the Albion?

I appreciate that as a season ticket holder I was able to buy mine quickly (I bought online) but do feel for those who are still in limbo and wondering whether or not they'll be able to get one less than a week before the game.

Liverpool have more season ticket holders than us, which makes it easier. But we seemed to drag it out for an eternity with 'season ticket holders for 10+ seasons, with 4+ cup games and an original signed 1957 shirt etc'.

I'd be interested to see how many people qualified for the criteria every day. Some days it must have been in the low hundreds.
Title: Re: F.A. Cup Tickets
Post by: PeterWithesShin on April 13, 2015, 12:53:00 PM
We have drawn it out a bit, as exigo says, i'm not sure we needed quite so many ST criteria even if we did want to stagger the sales. After the ST holders I don't mind the criteria so much, we've tried to make sure that those who go to the most games get tickets which is fair enough.

Liverpool's criteria list from highest to lowest priority:

Shell suit wearing scallies
Steve Gerrard
Anyone in the media who would like to make love to Steve Gerrard
Anyone who is related to Steve Gerrard
Anyone who has been punched by an irate Steve Gerrard
Ruddy faced, fat Irish blokes over for the day
Over excited Norwegians in jester hats
Vaguely frightened Japanese people in half and half scarves
Fat man-babies who still live with their parents, aged 40, in Liverpool themed bedrooms. In Croydon.
"Full kit wankers"
Anyone who was a main character in Brookside (Grant family, for example)
Anyone who was a medium frequency character in Brookside (Tommy McArdle)]
Anyone who was in Brookside for between 1 and 20 episodes (Petra, who Barry Grant had an affair with)
Anyone who overproduces saliva and therefore speaks like a Scouser

I have bad memories from my experience in 2010 and would urge you to err on the side of caution. It is a mixed area serving alcohol which, coupled with the pressured atmosphere of an important cup game, prompts tensions to rise and, on the odd occasion, spill over into trouble. The stewarding of the area is robust enough, but having opposition fans (in my case plastic Manure fans from Surrey) going out of their way to gloat in your face is extremely upsetting. Perhaps, I'm bitter because we lost; although, I do remember the pain of losing being magnified enormously by being in close proximity to jubilant opposition supporters. Most were tactful, several were absolute pricks.

I hope you get tickets!

If there was a set of fans less suited to an alcohol fuelled need to not gloat it's plastic Man U fans.  The next team you wouldn't want to be surrounded with in those circumstances are plastic Liverpool fans, but if it's the way to be there then bite your lip and enjoy it if you can.

Club Wembley wouldn't be for me. I would never resort to violence, but am very easily wound up, especially by gloryhunters of the classless chavs, bindippers or Manure ilk. They make me see red, excuse the pun in two out of three cases. I had a bad case of verbals on the tube after the semi against the chavs when some fat twat in a Chelsea shirt of about an age where wearing football shirts and gelling your hair up isn't such a great idea was mouthing off about us as if we were Halifax Town. I wasn't proud of myself and it was very immature - and yes, I'm a bad loser - but boy it felt good.

Should do as long as you don't send the money as a gift to family/friends. Get them to send it signed for to cover both of you.

When I was in town ticket office Sunday they checked the one I'm waiting for and said it was posted Recorded Delivery on the 11th April (ordered 3rd) so I guess it will be here tomorrow / Wednesday

It is open to people who've been to any 2 home games this season - not 2 per ref.

It it was 2 per ref - then absolutely everyone they've just spent 2 weeks gradually selling tickets to could turn back up tomorrow for their 2nd ticket!

That's what I was thinking so why I queried it. And to stop folks rocking up at VP tomorrow thinking they can buy 2 tickets on one reference.

Fair play to you Richard. I must admit one of my biggest regrets to date in my 27 years (there are a few) was not having a go back at the plastic ManUre fan from Surrey/Kent/Herts/Hampshire/Essex who was horribly acerbic in his comments about Villa following the 2010 final. I'm not for a second suggesting violence, but I really wish I'd said a few things back because it has always hurt me. I felt I let myself and the Villa down.

I would love a ticket and have been offered ticket references by some lovely people on here but can't get up to VP. My sense of missing out - albeit fairly so - was compounded by finding out yesterday that my friend Rob from Chichester is going and a good friend, Haroon from Dudley, has also got a ticket. Still, I shall proudly be representing the boys at the local pub in town. Went in last night on my run to check they are definitely showing the game and rather enjoyed saying 'Are you showing THE VILLA on Sunday afternoon?' When the barman said, do you mean Villa vs Liverpool, I said no, THE VILLA. You have to educate these people little by little I find...

There was a fair few down there, but it would seem theres more tickets left than we may think. We had a lot of options on where we could have sat, upper and lower.

And if you can still get 4 together, there's a possibility it won sell out which will look small time and there's no excuses really

Well, after the first set of criteria had been worked through they could have just opened it so anybody with a varied booking history could purchase online. Then the likes of Richard above would have been able to go.

I can't imagine that he's the only Villa fan who would be keen to go but isn't, while tickets remain potentially unsold.

Isn't it still just fans with a booking history for this season? My old man is dying to go but hasn't been since Hull last season. He's in his 60's and spent a lifetime going down, just not very often anymore, I'm sure there's thousands in his situation.

Surely it will go to varied booking history wont it?

Only flogging them to personal callers seems a bit of a daft situation to have got ourselves into.

If the reason is because they can't guarantee tickets will arrive on time, then fair enough (mind you, why not? This isn't a third world country, we have a decent postal system, and maybe they could improve the delivery options using the offensive "processing charge" or whatever it is called these days), but they surely got themselves into this situation by spreading the differing criteria over so many days.

So, having only just found out about the availability of tickets, a week or so before the event, the criteria list having expired, it is down to people who want to go AND are able to get to Aston in midweek. Oh, and who are able to arrange transport / stopovers in that short period of time.

That strikes me as a not ideal situation.

Given that everyone who's been to a couple of cup games this season or is a ST holder was guaranteed to get a seat and that ordering early doesn't necessarily mean a better seat, Villa did seem to over complicate it a bit.

I assume that they wanted to spread out the demand but they could surely have done so in a less complicated manner.

I know it's Wembley not Villa who are releasing the blocks, but when I got a ticket for my husband yesterday with a 3 game booking history, I could only get him a seat in the very top tier.

If I hadn't spent £27 on a QPR ticket to boost his booking history, it seems I could have got him a ticket on a 2 game history in 139, just 2 blocks along from us in 137!

I can understand them releasing blocks one at a time, so that the final sales can still get groups of seats, but I can't understand why they were selling NO lower tier yesterday when there were clearly lower tier tickets left.

At least QPR was a good game I suppose.

I went about 12.20 and took me just over an hour to get to the counter (thanks again to jonnym for his very kind offer of his booking reference). Same as many have said, only £33 and £43 tickets available all around block 533.

Noticed this has been added to the story on OS:

For those supporters who have now received their semi-final tickets, we would ask that you are careful to cover your seat details and your personal data if publishing images of your tickets on social media.

This will minimise the risk of your tickets being fraudulently duplicated.

So far, for the first time since the mid 60s, I've not managed to get to a game this season for a variety of reasons.  I've usually got to at two to three games by this stage of the season, despite living abroad for the last 10 years.  Just arrived back in Brum to live and could collect a ticket but don't meet the criteria - but I guess some would say I don't deserve it if I haven't been to any games.

Tickets for Villa's FA Cup semi-final are available on Wednesday to supporters with a varied booking history of two or more games.

Supporters are able to purchase up to six tickets for the Wembley match but must have a qualifiying client reference number for each one.

Tickets are available from 9am in the morning - but can only be purchased in person at Villa Village ticket office.

No ticket sales will be processed over the telephone as tickets are no longer being posted out.

Tickets will be handed over at point of purchase.

Tickets are sold on a first come first served basis.

Please be aware there are only a limited number of tickets available - so anyone turning up is not guaranteed the chance to snap up a seat for the showpiece semi-final.

We would like to thank supporters for not phoning the box office hotline for tickets since the start of the week.

This has enabled us to process tickets from the Villa Park ticket office efficiently during a hectic period.

Well, well, well, I have got a ticket thanks to the very good offices of someone on here to whom I am very indebted as you can imagine. A big shout too to Andy who was prepared to let me have a ticket reference which I did't need in the end and to Alan who was even prepared to go and collect a ticket on my behalf from VP. That says a lot about my fellow Villa fans. So Rob, Haroon, Frank, Cheltenham Lion, Pauline, John et al, see you there! I am over the moon

You have to have gone to at least two home games this season and it's one ticket per customer if that's what you've got.  You can't pay over the phone and then go and pick them up, either, it's go down and queue up.

Tickets for Villa's FA Cup semi-final are available on Wednesday to supporters with a varied booking history of two or more games.

That doesn't mention anything about this season? (2+ games this season was today, tomorrow is the above) I read that as two games ever (home) that are on your client ref.

Given the tine involved its mental we have run out of tine to sell tickets fairly. This bias against away games and against fans now living outside the city needs looking in to. We will probably all have forgotten in 15 years and repeat the errors though.

If it's done anything it has stressed the importance of keeping your ticket purchases allocated to your Client Ref No. I'm frankly astonished people don't do this? Or am I being harsh? I've stopped beinga season ticket holder this year but have ensured all my ticket purchases were assigned to mine and my sons client refs. Seems simple enough to me....

There must be a huge number of people that can't get there that want tickets and could otherwise get them (like myself) that'll miss out completely.

It's going to be frustrating, I'm living just down the road from Wembley too.

It was easier in some ways because it was either programme vouchers or ticket stubs. However that meant that people abused the system because it was a piece of piss to do so, at least this way those that go the most to VP are guaranteed a ticket. Which is the way it should be.

In hindsight though they have dragged it out too much. This criteria should have been last week as a lot of people who only go occasionally are going to be those that live a fair distance away. And expecting them to be able to get up to VP on a weekday at such notice is obviously going to be hard for a number of people.
That said, I think they expected to have sold out before reaching this criteria, so maybe they got caught out a touch by a larger than expected number of people not claiming tickets who qualified to do so.

The mighty Toronto FC maybe the shittest excuse for a football team ever. All these years on and they are still utterly dire and have never once made the playoffs. There's probably all kinds of reasons why people who were entitled to tickets didn't claim them. Haven't received ours yet, but the postman left one of those while you were out cards for something that has to be signed for, earlier today. Which is mildly irritating as it's a home working day and I only left the house for 30 minutes.

The mosaic will happen between blocks 130 to 137. They simply need to hold the tile upwards with the coloured side facing the pitch as the players come out of the tunnel. To make the mosaic there are three different colours of tile. We will keep the final design a secret.

Still haven't had mine that I ordered on the 3rd.  Rang up and the girl she said it was printed on the 7th and if it's not there by Friday afternoon to ring the ticket office again and they'll arrange a duplicate to be collected at Wembley.  I did ask if I'd be able to get through as it took ages today.  Apparently they're arranging for a team of people from the ticket office to be there to handle any that didn't get delivered.  Bit of a ball ache to be honest and when you have an 11 year old coming home from school every day asking if his ticket has arrived and you have to tell him we'll probably have to collect it on the day, takes a bit of the shine off it.  There are some things you just want to get your hands on.  I know when I was 11 I'd have stared at it for hours and slept with it under my pillow.

According to the noses we are struggling to sell the tickets....straw clutching at its finest

Because they never have problems selling tickets for anything.
Less than 15k home fans last night.
A tenner for adults and kids for a quid as well.

The mosaic will happen between blocks 130 to 137. They simply need to hold the tile upwards with the coloured side facing the pitch as the players come out of the tunnel. To make the mosaic there are three different colours of tile. We will keep the final design a secret.
ill be responsible for one then!

I've built a little shrine round mine
Talking of shrines, if it can be an omen, not my doing at all, but the main shrine at the London Buddhist Centre this week has flowers dominated by a rather deep red and light blue (along with a lot of those green flowers), and, a single central flower offered in a special ritual last Friday evening is a bit football related, was put there by/for a guy who was on the books of Benfica as a kid.

Am I clutching at straws?

It was always going to sell out without a problem, just dragged out because of the way the criteria was set to spread the workload at the ticket office. There are many, many more who wanted tickets but didn't fit it in with the criteria set (which was fair in my opinion). Not like when Blues went and even my Villa supporting sons managed to get tickets to go with their friend and his dad.

We were in Club Wembley for the 2010 final.  Apparently, even though you've paid £250, those fridges that you see dotted around full of bottles of beer aren't included in the price and you can't just help yourself to the beer.  Took us ages to work that one out.

Nodge - Question about the dress code for Club Wembley - It says no "REPLICA CLUB SHIRTS" Does that include all club colours or stuff with Villa badges on? What was your experience?

With my 10 year old boy and and don't want hassle on the door or with any bin dipper - but clearly want to be associated with the mighty AV. Scarfs and hats? may be a purple AV rain coat..

And yes I know it's Club Wembley and not with the fans - a) I give my brother a ticket in block 127 and b) It was very very nice of Nike to give me two tickets for block 143. Very nice.

Don't really remember taking much notice Cleybrooke (I'd had a couple of Sherries) but I'm sure there were people with colours on.  None of us had colours on but then we don't anyway so I don't know what they would say on the door if you turned up in a Villa shirt.  I can't imagine they would stop an 10 year old especially if it was under a jumper just in case :-).
I'm sure you can spot the different ends in Club Wembley by colour when you watch a game on TV?  Sorry that's not much help, hopefully someone else will have an idea.

Churchill Arms is a cracking pub with good Thai food, but we stopped watching football there years ago as they just had (have?) a fairly average tv. If you want to watch in the background you will be fine but if you really want to watch it may be worthwhile scouting a different boozer.

Tickets didn't turn up yesterday so I've gone on the duplicate list just in case.  I did find out though that I'm in the same block as Leeg in row 13! What could possibly go wrong!  The plus side is if the tickets do turn up eventually, my son will have a couple of mint condition momentos of our famous win.
