Post by: Damo70 on March 25, 2015, 02:30:24 PM: I met Dion Dublin once when he was out in Tenerife with BFR's Coventry squad. It was quite surreal. I went up to the bar in my local, met Kevin Richardson who I had a quick chat with and then went back to tell my mates he was in the bar. They were a step ahead of me and pointed out the whole Coventry team were in the place. I think they had a free week due to being knocked out of the FA Cup. I hadn't realised as it was packed out due to it being Grand National day. A bit later I was outside when Dublin had a chat to my mate Stevo. They were both from Leicester and Stevo knew Dublin's dad as he was a taxi driver in the area who had picked him up from many a night out. Unfortunately I didn't meet BFR. I asked Dublin where he was and apparently he was holed up in a villa somewhere on the island with his missus.

This, observers of the celeb spotting thread in OT may be interested to know, is the same one in which I have repeatedly seen Ian Beale from Eastenders and that mental Jo Cameron woman from the Apprentice a few years ago (last saw her last week, she's smartened herself up a bit).

Anyway, my favourite spotting of Mr Dublin was the last time, when i was behind him in the Starbucks queue. He ordered his drink and the girl asked him for his name for the cup. "Dion", he said. "Sorry?" she said. "Dion" he replied.

I don't really know why, but it just made me laugh.
