Title: West Ham v Villa, League Cup Qtr Final 1989
Post by: Charlie8182 on February 23, 2015, 04:28:09 PM
This night at Upton Park has been touched on more than once on this site, although since then I’ve not seen any TV footage.
I missed the kick off, didn’t see the penalty miss (in fact myself and other Villa fans trying to get in thought we were winning due to celebrating Villa fans reacting to the miss) and my feet didn’t touch the floor once I did get in.  Just a few months before Hillsborough don’t forget.

Thanks for posting that. I was there that night too.  Amazing looking back that the ref allowed the corner to be taken with Villa fans on the pitch (about 27 mins in).

I was there too and haven't seen any footage since.  I just remember lads climbing up into the rafters to avoid the crush...we were so lucky there weren't fences otherwise we'd have been in massive trouble.  Quite chilling to look back at it now. Who on earth thought the away support would all fit in that pen?
