In case Lambert has gone down in history as TSM Mk. II it was McLeish who was just on Talksport. I was otherwise engaged and only caught his comment about having no chance of turning the club round in a year. Has anyone got/can anybody do a clever linky thing?

He nearly turned the club around in a year. From a PL side to a Championship side. So mission nearly accomplished there Alex.

Time to stop talking about your season with us now Alex.

TSM has always been pretty respectful of us and his time at Villa, I don't think that's going to change

Gotcha. Thank you.

You're welcome.

Nice one, cheers.

I think any manager who shows signs of being tactically astute, having an ability to motivate players and having an approach to the game that looked like it might reap rewards in terms of results and entertainment would be given time to turn things around. TSM never displayed any of those traits, and Lambert only occasionally did. Boring the pants of everyone and losing far too often is simply not going to earn you more time.

Interesting to hear McLeish say that Benteke was on our scouting/player database when he was with us (although he said he never looked at him when he was with us).

Ha Ha,
Listening to him on talkshite , that's exactly how it come across. They asked him about Sherwood, but he spoke about his time at the Villa.

Well,I guess from TSM's point of view the problems that plagued Lambert (mainly with the budget) are the ones he contended with. So his views are still kind of relevant.

Namely being dour, uninspiring and unable to set up a team that can win matches.

I would have thought there are countless players worldwide on our scouting database.

It was surprising to hear but McLeish sounded like a different person in that interview - he wasn't dour at all, in fact he sounded beyond perky

That sounds like a soft porn sequel. 'Perky' and the follow up 'Beyond Perky'.
