Title: whats the point
Post by: Tony Erdington on February 14, 2015, 10:27:02 PM
Whats the point that will keep us in the prem?

I think the point will be 36, so Tim will need a bit more than a point a game on my guestimate.

I think its doable if WE all pull together.

Tim Sherwood I believe will get the support from the home support.

WERE GOING TO DO IT!

Perhaps a point or two higher than 36, because of our dreadful goal difference.

4 wins and a few draws in the absolute minimum. We need a honeymoon period, that's for sure.

The point at which we cannot be caught by the club that is third from bottom.

I reckon 38.

So... 5 wins and a draw

OR

4 wins, 4 draws, 5 defeats.

Only 3 times since 2000 has a team needed 38+ points to stay up. From 2000 onwards the sides in 18th have had 33, 34, 36, 42, 33, 34, 34, 38, 36, 34, 30, 39, 36, 36, 33.

It's a bit depressing, isn't it, going year after year thinking about shit like this. Where the best we can aspire to is being up there with the likes of Everton or Newcastle, floating about inoffensively around half way.

*sigh*

I am starting to understand why people begin to go and watch lower league sides.

Although not postmen and policeman playing plumbers on a dog shit-strewn public park like Dave Cooper and Woodhall, obviously.

When you see it put like that, it all looks a bit unachievable, doesn't it?

I mean, when you think we've just lost five league games in a row, and scored TWO goals in our last ten league matches.

Crikey. We really are in big, big trouble.

We are in deep shit.

But at the same time, we have a new manager, some very winnable home games and a centre forward who if the new manager can get firing, those wins will arrive faster than we think.

The "winnable" matches concept is something I've stopped believing in.

I think it'd be easier if we couldn't defend for shit, say, then there'd be an element of "they ship 4 goals every match" about it, but it isn't even that. We sometimes look like not losing games, but we pretty much never look like winning them.

That's about to change big time. And you can take that to the bank.

37 is usually good enough - so another 5 wins from 13 games.
