Title: Next 6 games
Post by: PeterWithesShin on February 07, 2015, 06:07:24 PM
I know we have a few of these but I think the next 6 games will decide if we stay up or not. So, what are your predictions?

A) Hull (draw)
H) Stoke (win)
A) Newcastle (lose)
H) Bitters (win)
A) Sunderland (win)
H) Swansea (draw)

I think we'll get a massive morale boosting win versus Hull and essentially set things up for Lambert to keep his job for sure for yet another season. It will be followed by decent performances to get the required points to see us clear.

Hull win
Stoke draw
Newcastle draw
Baggies draw
Sunderland lose
Swansea win

All of which could be unraveled by Tuesday night.

Just looking at the fixtures until the end of the season. April's a shit month - Man United, Tottenham and Man City away and home to QPR. So the next 6 fixtures + QPR (h) will decide how much of a scary May we have.

Draw, draw, lose, win, lose, win.

I'd probably take that now if offered.

A) Hull - nil-nil bore draw
H) Stoke - two-nil defeat. Like a recovering alcoholic, we don't do doubles.
A) Newcastle - we're shit here even when we're good. And we're pretty fucking far from good. Three-nil loss.
H) Bitters - a goal! A goal! We'll only draw one-one though due to someone like, oh, let's say Cleverley, getting stupidly sent off.
A) Sunderland - they must hate us because we never do Newcastle and quite often beat these. We will again, a corner-turning two-one win.
H) Swansea - an early lead, have we really turned the corner? Nope. One-four.

Interesting that the previous posts range from totals of 5 to 11 points. I go draw, draw, lose, draw, lose, draw. Do I win a 'most negative poster' prize?

We need to win at least three of those games.

Not necessarily. I'd take two wins and four draws.

Ok we need at least 9 points.

Looking like a few draws there for me, certainly no one would bat an eyelid if we draw at home to West Brom and Stoke for instance but we desperately need to win ideally two games.

We need to be over 30 points at the end of that run which on current form is a big ask but can be done for example if we win on Tuesday. It will look a look easier then.

I agree if we are in the bottom 3 after that run we will do down as look what we have in April, away games in Manchester and at Spurs. We need to have a decent buffer over the bottom 3 going into that month.

Need to win at least two. I have a good feeling about Hull now the goal hoodoo has been removed. Win that and the world is our oyster ;)

Worth noting the next 6 games for the "rivals"

Leicester

Arsenal v Leicester
Everton v Leicester
Leicester v Chelsea
Man. City v Leicester
Leicester v Hull
Spurs v Leicester

QPR

Sunderland v QPR
Hull v QPR
QPR V Arsenal
QPR V Spurs
Palace v QPR
QPR v Everton

Burnley

Burnley v WBA
Man. United v Burnley
Chelsea v Burnley
Burnley v Swansea
Liverpool v Burnley
Man. City v Burnley

Hull

Hull v us
Hull v QPR
Stoke v Hull
Hull v Sunderland
Leicester v Hull
Hull v Chelsea

Leicester are totallly dead and buried. They have no chance.

If Burnley don't win tomorrow they look dead in the water aswell. After that they also have Spurs, Arsenal and Everton.

Wildcards are QPR with new manager syndrome but amusinly their easier games are away from home where they're bobbins.

Think Hull will go on a bit of a run now and pull clear so would help us if they could beat QPR and Leicester while they're at it and play out a draw with us.

As I've said if we are in the bottom 3 after next 6 games I can't see anything other than relegation as in April we have to visit Manchester twice and Spurs so we really need a buffer going into that month from the bottom three.

Yeah very useful. Our relegation rivals do have a nasty run coming up.

I have a pretty bad feeling about Hull though. By ref decision or some idiocy I think we will lose which will put me into complete meltdown.

That's actually made me feel a lot better.  It's quite possible that Leicester, Burnley and QPR only get about 4 points each from that lot, so if we could get 9 from 18 things wouldn't look too bad. He says, trying to convince himself!

I will stick with the predictions I have made to the end of the season. I think we will have a decent spell over the next few games, followed by a largely barren April, leading to a fairly nervous May.

A) Hull - draw
H) Stoke - draw
A) Newcastle - lose
H) Bitters - win
A) Sunderland - draw
H) Swansea - win

Last game of the season. Aston Villa v Burnley. Winner stays up, loser goes down. Both go down if drawn.

Benteke rediscovers his form, we win all six and finish the run with a positive goal difference.

I am also going on holiday to the Big Rock Candy Mountains, where you never change your socks, and the little streams of alcohol come trickling down the rocks. The brakemen have to tip their hats and the railway bulls are blind there's a lake of stew and of whiskey too, you can paddle all round it in a big canoe.

Randomlly put six in but how the hell we are going to get them I haven't got a clue.

Will go

Stoke - Draw
Newcastle - Lose
West Brom - Win (but wouldn't surprise me if they get something)
Sunderland - Lose
Swansea     - draw

Most teams near the bottom would be happy with those next five fixtures, but for us it looks scary! ::)

Be interesting to see how we do if we can get someone in before Stoke which should be possible....

if these previously hopeless teams like Palace and QPR can start winning games when they change manager, surely to McGrath we can win a game or two in the next few weeks or do normal rules not apply to us?

We did have reasonable starts under Houllier and McLeish aswell.
