The richest match-up in boxing history between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao has finally been agreed after years of haggling.

A source close to the Filipino boxer and congressman revealed to The Sunday Telegraph that Pacquiao completed his contractual agreements on Saturday and that Mayweather is set to sign and will announce the contest which is expected to be worth $250 million (£162 million) in the coming days.

Mayweather was in New York on Friday, buying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewellery, and there are indications that the unbeaten American boxer could even decide to announce the superfight officially at the NBA All-Star Game tip-off, which takes place on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.

“Manny has 100 per cent signed his side of the deal,” the source told Telegraph Sport. “It is now over to Mayweather to close the deal and announce the fight.” Pacquiao himself revealed Friday that he has started training in General Santos City, Philippines for his next fight.

I'd still watch it though.

I see Carl Frampton's fight is going to be on ITV. I can't decide whether boxing is becoming more or less popular, is it something the terrestrials want to show or is it now cheaper as the pay to view channels aren't as bothered?

I think the fact that Carl Froch and George Groves fought in front of 80,000 at Wembley last summer says a lot about the popularity of boxing in this country, as does the fact that big arenas are sold out on a monthly basis up and down the country.  I think Eddie Hearn's apparent monopoly with SKY is the reason that fighters with other promoters have to look elsewhere for TV deals.  I don't know about the figures, but Box Nation doesn't really seem to have taken off.

As for this weekend, I don't think Paul Smith will catch Abraham cold again and would expect a stoppage in the later rounds.

Boxing is nowhere near as big as it used to be. You get the big promotions like always but even they don't sell as many tickets as the old days and you'll never see the sort of TV ratings is used to get.

He was looking weak from the 2nd or 3rd round. If not illness I don't think he trained well enough. He reminded me a little of lloyd Honeyghan v Marlon Starling at the start and just looked a little punch drunk once Frampton started to land with the crisper, cleaner, strikes by rounds 2 and 3.

His next opponent should provide a bit of a sterner test.  He needs to fight someone who is going to land a few shots on him, for as David Price proved, it's all good and well knocking out opponents when you're not getting hit.

Not really interested now, 5 years ago it would've been a brilliant fight.  Both at their best I'd say Pacquaio would've shaded it but given their respective styles I think Mayweather is favourite now, not sure Pacman hasn't taken a few too many punches and lost a little too much of his speed.  I reckon Mayweather knows that as well which is why the fight has taken so long to put on.

I can't see it being a very exciting fight to be honest.  On the whole, Mayweather isn't a particularly exciting fighter (although a brilliant one) and I can see him concentrating on negating Pacquaio at the weekend rather than looking to attack.

Mayweather is a very defensive boxer, he's got a good guard, a solid chin and he counter punches well. He's spent most of his career boxing that way and he wont change for this fight.  At his best I think Pacman was quick enough, both his hands and his movement, to make that defend and counter style a lot less assured.

Put them together now and I agree, I'm not expecting a great fight.

Both Showtime/HBO will be using their ring caller. It could be a very long night/morning come fight time.

Pretty amazing scenes really.  A full arena for a weigh-in is a bit unreal.  There was definitely more support in the arena for Pacquaio.

Nobody buying into to Mayweather Pacquaio hype on here I see ... I don't know who will win, but I will own up and say I'm probably the only person outside the Money camp who wants him to win.

Probably closer to 10 years ago than 5 but I agree. For Mayweather i think it's all about his record. He wants to be Marciano and go out with a 50-0 record. Win this and he's got two fights left to do it. He wouldn't have taken on Pacquiao when he wad angerous as it put the record in jeopardy so he's waited. Win this, as most think he will, on points, and he'll know he's good enough to beat him and may do a re-match then he'll have one more fight to take the record. Khan can forget it because he won't get a look-in now. Mayweather doesn't have the power to knock him out and his hand speed is too fast and could cause problems for Mayweather. He'll give up one or two of the belts to finish off against a someone or other he knows he can beat. Get to 50 wins and it'll be ta-ra.

Very sad story.  My Mum grew up a few doors away from his Mum and remember him as i kid when i was young. He had an older brother who was trouble, but he kept himself out of trouble and forged a pretty good boxing career. I think he even opened a gym in Luton after he retired.

God knows what turn of events led him to this trouble.

That's a bit unfair on Mayweather. He totally outfoxed Manny there. PAC showed more endeavor but Mayweather rarely looked in trouble, moved beautifully and just controlled the fight.

One stat had Mayweather landing almost 2:1the punches that Manny did yet Manny was the aggressor.  Brilliant boxer and without a doubt one of the greatest ever.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Mayweather is one of the greatest ever. I don't think he's ever been involved in an exciting fight though. Granted that it's not on him to make it that way.

I think Pacquiao looked a shadow of his former self, even with Mayweather being defensively brilliant. That Mayweather actually threw more punches in the fight is pretty telling. I do think the referee was way too lenient with Mayweather's holding early on.

Mayweather is good at what he does but he is not at all exciting and I think after all the hype its not a match that will be remember fondly and hasn't done anything for the popularity of the sport.

Mayweather is undoubtedly a brilliant boxer, but his style in the ring and personality out of it will probably mean he will not be mentioned alongside the genuine greats such as Ali.

He's suffering from a Rotator Cuff Tear which will require surgery ( torn tendons in the shoulder joint). If I sound like an expert, it's because I was diagnosed with an identical condition on Friday, after x-rays and an MRI scan. It's effing painful and requires keyhole surgery. That's where our similarities end though - Manny picked up his injury in a world title fight, I did mine whilst showing off to my kids up the park, swinging on the monkey bars....

on the fight, the comparison between Chelsea and Mayweather is spot on

ex fighters and purist pugilists were raving about Mayweathers defensive brilliance, same as the football pundits were on how Chelsea are not boring and the way they play is some sort of art form

where punters just want to see a fight where a few more punches are thrown and football fans want to be entertained by the champions in their respective fields

Anyone see the end of Bradley v Vargas fight what an absolute farce - with 15 seconds to go Vargas rocked Bradley and to be fair he was quite shook up but when the 10 sec clacker went to signal
the upcoming end of the round the 67 year old ref thought it was the bell and signalled the end of the fight....Vargas then assuming ref had stopped Bradley and celebrated like mad thinking he had
won. Pandemonium ensued for next few minutes whilst officials sorted the mess out.
In the end it was adjudged the end of the fight with the judges giving Bradley a deserved unanimous points decision.

Funny how Matchroom won't let any darts player even talk about football, you are not even allowed to watch the darts in football shirts, but they encourage it at the boxing.
It's all about shifting tickets with the boxing.

Bizarre. Not seen that before.

If that was about the guy who hurt his back that was just terribly unfortunate, he was probably 10 ahead when his back went so you've got to feel for him.  In the heavies the Whyte one was a odd ending with the american seemingly giving up after taking one on the ear and Joshua desperately needs a fight against someone decent, 13 in 13 but still only fought 25 rounds as a professional, it's an impressive record but it's doing nothing to show how good he can be, hopefully Whyte will give him something to think about in December.

Totally agree about Joshua. Pretty impressive again against a mismatched opposition. Personally I would like to see him take Tyson Fury apart once Fury has lost to Klitschko.

I saw that. He's talked about his depression before a few times too and it looks like he's getting worse.

If he loses to Klitschko, which I think he will, then I worry he may do something pretty drastic. Who is he surrounding himself with? He talks like he is in the middle of a mentally difficult episode and people he is close to need to step up.

Pretty well, dominated the fight with fast combinations and no little power, but Spike was tough and there was the slight danger that Eubank would punch himself out and get caught later.  But as it turns out, even though Spike never went down, the punches took their toll and he had nothing left in the tank.

Surely that's the end of the road for Kevin Mitchell.  As for Joshua, we have at least now seen him take a punch.  His next opponent will be interesting, as I don't think he is ready for the likes of Fury yet.  Was it a coincidence that Chisora was on the bill (even though he was a replacement)?

Agree Dave, but I'm sure Eddie Hearn was bricking it at times last night and won't want a similar experience in the next fight.  I was listening to David Haye on Five Live on the way to the game and he was saying that Chisora would be a good next opponent for Joshua.  He was also saying that he would like to fight Joshua after that, so perhaps he had an agenda.

Really good fight I thought. Billy Joe too slick, too good for Lee to take risks before the last few minutes of the fight.

Also showed his power is nothing to be sniffed at.

An impressive display.

For me a strong guy with a great engine and a good chin needs to jump on him like Eubank did in the second half of their fight. He's too good at range.
