It is weird the things you remember. I listened to the George Gavin/BRMB commentary. I had the radio out in the back garden whilst kicking a ball around for the first half and then spent a nervy second half listening indoors. I was a VP for the first leg.

There was a memorable (and worrying at first glance) back page national headline before the final reading 'Villa Out Of Final'. It actually referred to Ricky Villa, Spurs, the FA cup final and the Falklands conflict.

We were at the far end of the ground with a mixed crowd. Bought our tickets outside in a cafe. There was certainly more violence than I thought at the time. It was a very warm day and too much alcohol had been quaffed Im afraid.
