I never thought I'd say it but one of the best nights I've had for a long time was the Friday before we played Hull last season.

I agree. I'd never been to hull before . Impressed .

The pubs around the old town & the high street were as good as anywhere I've been.

I wonder if they'll sing about us "not being English any more" again? One thing I will say, the Police have a superb system of getting coaches to the motorway quickly. Was very impressive.
-
Would be going to this if I was still based up North. Can see us getting a strong win here surely? Oddly enough Hull was one of my five Uni choices, never been to the city as it happens.

Unfortunately, the Saturday afternoon witnessed probably the worst Premier League game that it has been my misfortune to have to endure. The police were a bit heavy handed outside the pub by the Fair that we were drinking at - They pulled a lad without justification who to them must have looked to be a troublemaker and had him thrown against a wall 3 times until I located the Inspector, told him that I was taking the officers' concerned's numbers and would be advising the lad (Who I did not know) to approach a solicitor. He was released pronto to loud cheers from the assembled masses, including Hull supporters. There is a violent sub culture some times in the city due to the tensions between locals and the large Eastern European population.
My 2 lads both went to the University of Hull, so I spent 6 years to and fro. Some great pubs and beer at very reasonable prices.

Right, Hull a place to check out then! Just shows you not to believe the stereotypes ::)

The north isn't so much grim as different. I consider myself to be a pilgrim in an unholy land.

Mainly Kosovans according to a friend who lived there. Some of the things they said did make it seem like there were quite big tensions.

Hotel booked and getting my tickets tomorrow night. Tuesday night out in hull after the game in early Feb should be interesting.
-
We stayed up there a few years back and managed to book ourselves into the worst hotel in Hull.
-
I stayed at an etap once on the north circular after a Monday night 0-4 loss at west ham. Didn't sleep a wink. One of the worst nights of my life.

Anyone had their tickets for this yet ?
