This is the break down of our form at Villa Park since 2000 (league only) and including today's game. By and large, its pretty grim, and getting grimmer since Lambert turned up.

Only twice in 14 years have we won more than half of our home games - even though we've had some decent sides in that time, they've never been able to dominate games at home. Without turning it into another anti-Lambert thread, it shows our home form was a problem before he pitched up.

What sums it up for me was the final MON season.
We finished I think 5 points off Spurs who finished 4th in the end. According to that table we won 8 home games that season. Spurs won 14.

We were always very strong at home under SBL in the mid 90s, of course a top team then but it dosen't always translate into good home form as we saw under MON.
That second Taylor season was very strange, we only won 1 away game that season I think.

Didn't we spank 5 at Boro for only away win?
-
The 5 home wins Lambert managed in 2012-13 was, with the exception of the McLeish year, the worst home win record since 1890-91.
Although he is currently on 2 from 10 home matches this season, so on course to smash that record.

As shit as we were under SGT in his second stint, that season he finished on 45 points. We'd all get nose bleeds getting that many points in a season again.

Yes. Gudjonsson scored on his debut IIRC.

Didn't West Ham go down on 42 points in the end? All in all a strange season not helped by the two SHA defeats which ultimatedly finished Taylor off I think.
Expectations were a lot higher back then. As SGT said when he was reappointed Villa fans were bored finishing 6th or something along those lines.

Without turning it into another anti-Lambert thread, it shows our home form was LESS OF a problem before he pitched up.
Fixed for you.
No manager has had a home record as bad as Lambert's over this period of time. When I got home from the game earlier my missus asked me why I bother given I almost always come home pissed off with them. She said it was a lot of money and time to waste when I know I'm going to be disappointed.
It was a good point, very well made.

Under McLeish we went from November 5th 2011 to March 10th 2012 without winning a home game. Think we lost four straight at one point so I'm sure Lambert will crack on trying to break those records! If he hasn't already beaten the losing streak one.

2002-2003 under Taylor was the most home games I've ever been able to get to. I was a third year university student at Aberystwyth and had a lot of free time. Some of the football we played was pretty good. It was our away form that year that was poor.

Our away form plus losing to the noses twice ultimately did for SGT (though I still felt the abuse he received in the last home game were OTT.

I agree. Our big problem at home was that we drew far too many games after struggling to break teams down. To only have 2 seasons in nearly 15 years when we've won more that 50% of our home games is unacceptable and it may well have cost us a top 4 spot in 2009 and maybe also in 2010.
Since tthe start of TSM1's reign, we've simply lost too many games as opposed to drawn, but the fundemental problem is STILL that we don't win enough games at home (mind you we don't win enough full stop).

Didn't we only play 11 home games in that season?
