Andy Comyn?
-
It's stumped me.
-
andy comyn played with him at alvechurch before he signed for villa on the Saturday and made his debut against Liverpool on the Wednesday!!
-
Does it not say anywhere in the prog? I'm not sure it is Comyn but that was the first name I thought of.

Andy Comyn?
Nice one.
-
I remember a game against Chelsea (It may have been Wimbledon), sat first row of the Witton Lane Stand.Vinnie Jones told Comyn I am going to break your f*cking legs.Young Andy looked scared shitless.
Strange that I never witnessed a similar conversation between mr jones and Shaun Teale !

I didn't know we had signed him. The first I knew of him was when his name was read out for his debut against Liverpool (1-1 I think, midweek and the first home game and second game in total of the '89-'90 season). If I remember right he filled in for Paul McGrath and had a good game against Inter in the 2-0 win in 1990. He moved on to Derby, Plymouth and I think finished up at Hednesford.
-
Definitely Comyn - but what's he doing on the front of Thursday's programme?
-
Am I right that he played the night we beat Inter 2-0?
-
As a replacement for Paul McGrath. The whisper was God was in hospital for some alcohol related treatment, which I think was confirmed in his book.
-
I thought so... glad the memory is still good!
-
I think John Barnes turned him inside out before scoring in the 1-1 on debut.

I was going to ask the same question. I seem to remember he did fairly well whenever he played.
-
Is it Phil Cool, the rubber faced comedian?
-
Never saw that Comyn!

Interview with Andy Comyn from 1997, he says exactly that!

A footnote in Villa's history, he wasn't the worst central defender I've seen at Villa Park, but obviously not good enough in the long-term.

He called around to our house a few years ago to sell me some insurance!
