The current Villa squad is capable of much more than they’re showing.

I've always believed going right back to his 'kids' squad in his first season, Lambert's teams are far better than they show. The 'young and hungry' plan would have been a gem if we'd had the right manager, instead it was led by somebody unqualified to develop them. The plan was eventually abandoned but it does cross my mind every now and then where we would be today if we'd had the right manager and coaches to roll out such a plan.

Now it would appear we're going to try the 'grassroots' approach, investing in youth instead of proven talent. It's another plan doomed to fail. In the meantime, we're expected to believe in it, trusting it will one day bear fruit. Does anybody really feel it's a realistic plan that will get us playing the kind of football and the success that comes with it with Lambert in charge?

We're like a dog chasing it's tail. It's all so bloody pointless. If it was any other club than Aston Villa I'd be laughing out loud, it's so ridiculous but there you have it. Lions led by donkeys.

Good article and quite right, on paper over the last two games it's the making of a very good side. Ok we played well against Swansea at times and the score could have quite different but we then start the first half yesterday again so shy if confidence, ideas and fluency.

Whether through fear, uncertainty or just a lack of tactical acumen, their combined effort keeps its shape well but it’s short on flair to the point of invisibility. The current Villa squad is capable of much more than they’re showing.

------------

It is capable of more undoubtedly, though aside from Burnley and maybe Palace, if you look from 9th downwards practically all teams could say the same.

You could have saved yourself the effort Dave and reprinted any number of articles you have written over the last couple of years, Watching Villa is like watching the same movie over and over again you know the story line off by heart and the ending is always the same.
