Actor who played Private Pike in sitcom – and who has cameo in new film – damns garment worn by young actor Blake Harrison as ‘like a banana split’ (http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/nov/28/ian-lavender-dads-army-movie-scarf-yellow-stripes)
I don't think it looks too bad. I've seen plenty of Villa scarfs with yellow or gold on them. Perhaps it's his colour blindness that makes it look odd.

I think it looks like a Villa scarf too.
-
Defo a Villa scarf with the gold trim
-
It looks fine. If he thinks that's bad, I hope nobody shows him the new badge!
-
It looks more like a Villa scarf than a West Ham one.
Shouldn't be any confusion over who Pike supports unlike there was in 70/80's.
-
Looks ok to me, the blue is a bit odd (it's a bit more towards green than normal) but the yellow isn't a problem.

Or its a very authentic, grubby, been dropped and trampled on a few times bluey green hue. My white (with claret and blue stripes) scarf took on a golden colour at either end as a result of hurried, clumsy half time urinations.

That's exactly the thought I had when I was looking at, trying to decide if it's what would happen to that scarf after it's been washed a few times, etc.

Looks fine to me, just not one that you'd find in the club shop.
The one my Mum and Dad gave me in 1961 has pride of place in my Villa drawer: the blue's gone a bit grey and the claret a bit brownish and it's got a few holes in it.
It's seen better days, in more ways than one!
Don't tell him your name Pike!

Sorry, but that reminds me of perhaps the most enjoyable hour's work I've ever done.
But you were part of what was one of the few comedies that became more than just television, with their lines and catchphrases entering common usage. Over the past forty years you must have lost count of the number of people who have repeated Pike’s lines to you. Do you ever feel like punching the next bright spark to call you a stupid boy?
“No, not at all. I get annoyed when they get a line wrong; ‘Don’t tell him your name Pike,’ that’s the common one.

Ian went to the same school as my boys and is often in and around our place in Cambo. Really nice guy.

Nice read that.
A real proud Brummie.

I love the story about the original scarf finally making it to a game. I can imagine him quietly sitting there wearing it. Brilliant.
If we'd ever built that museum the scarf should be in it.

I'm not sure who he supports if he even likes football but Blake Harrison went to school in quite a Millwall area so may well wanted it to look less West Ham.

My girlfriend kindly knitted my Villa scarf in the mid 1960's from wool bought in the local drapers shop, which is exactly what Pike's mom would have done twenty five years earlier. So to compare the colours with those in the club shop for example is a little misleading, since there was no club shop in those days.
I still have my scarf and I do still wear it on my infrequent visits to VP. I don't care if it doesn't pass the British Standard colour test.

He is a Millwall fan
