Title: QPR vs Aston Villa Match Thread
Post by: Dave on October 27, 2014, 07:00:25 PM
Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar (c), Clark, Cissokho, Westwood, Cleverley, Sanchez, Weimann, Agbonlahor, Benteke.

Given, Okore, Cole, Bent, Bacuna, Richardson, N’Zogbia.

Okore is still alive! Wonder where Hutton is.

Glad to see Sanchez starting, however Richardson is a little unlucky to be dropped.

A little disappointed Grealish is not involved. It might have been the ideal game to bring on.

As long as he can remember how to cross the ball onto Benteke's head (a couple of times) he'll do.

Can't belive Grealish isn't on bench.

Hutton must be injured ..good to see we can't go a week without another injury between games ..

Same here.  With Cole, N'Zogbia and Bent on the bench, that has to be the unfittest, laziest subs' bench ever.;

Surprised not to see Grealish named. Perhaps he put his back out lifting that wheelbarrow on the allotment.

If true to our recent luck then Hutton will have got injured in the warm-up. That defence doesn't fill me with confidence.

Does QPR's team have a proper left sided player or is Fer going to play there?

Lowton could do well if given space. I think I'm clutching at straws though. I've got a feeling QPR will play real up and at em stuff and clark, Lowton and sanchez won't know what hit them

Grealish has to be on the bench instead of atleast one of Cole and N'Zo.

Fuck sake.

Okore should really, really, be starting over Clark too.

Interesting line up.

It's mental to think we would be saying Bent and Zog on the bench is a poor and uninspired option. I suppose those two have had terrible injuries, but they have not come back anywhere near the standard you would expect.

Lowton in uh oh. It's a shame Grealish is missing, he should be in the squad and I wish we'd give Okore a chance. However please win Villa.

I know I'm a pussy but not following the game, phone off at 8 and back on at 9 55 hoping for a phone call from my son who always rings when we occasionally win, he sends text when we draw and I hear fuck all when we've lost so I am praying for contact at full time.

Unless he has an injury i'm disappointed Jack isn't in the squad.

People are getting too carried away with Grealish if you ask me.  All we have to go on is lazy links with Chelsea and Man United, and a lot of hype.  He's done nothing so far to justify the hype yet.  Yes he may well be brilliant for us, but he's got a long way to go yet.

I don't think it is necessarily putting it all on him by wanting to see him get a game.

I agree re the importance of managing him well, but on the flip side, it'd be nice to see a bit more of him than we have so far.

Sanchez stands out like a sore thumb.  He's the only one on the pitch that looks like a half decent player.

Putting himself about, technique and real zip to his passing.

We'll soon coach that out of him.

If we lose this it will be another unwanted record but as john e said.... We're not that bad.

Clark has to be one of the most inept players we've ever had.

Westwood has given the ball away so many times.

Benteke has the touch and reactions of a player who has been out for several months.

Lambert is looking like bemused buffoon on the bench.

But at least we seem to be trying to attack, which is an improvement on some recent games.

He was being sarcastic. Crossed once, straight to a QPR player which bounced back to him and he repeated the trick. Imagine those corners where the taker blasts it and it barely lifts off the ground and fails to clear the first man. It was like that, but twice.

Thing that gets me is players like Amalfatano who would clearly have improved us no end creatively were available and cheap and we did not go for them. The 4-3-3 is fine if the 2 players of the forward are creative and have a bit of spark. Our options there are fucking awful apart from Grealish, who appears to have been given a glimpse to get a contract and then dropped for no apparent reason.

A striker out since March and supported by a pair that have probably less than 10 league goals in a full season of games together. We look toothless and like we have no guile, because we are toothless and have no guile. We are as creative as John Major following a set of Ikea instructions.
Title: Re: QPR vs Aston Villa Match Thread
Post by: supertom on October 27, 2014, 08:53:34 PM
Well. We've been better. We've pressed them high and been on the front foot. The goal was largely against the run of play. However we've got problems with our final delivery. There's no guile in midfield. Sanchez has been very good. Westwood and Cleverley have both been startlingly average though. Neither offers much creativity and both appear to be doing the same "keep it tidy" job. It's imbalanced.

Up front Benteke is very rusty. Gabby's been poor. Weimann has been decent and lively and looks well up for it, but it looks as if he may have to come off (ANOTHER injury).

Zamora has tormented our backline so far. He's 33, he's got no legs in him, but he's giving a master class in CF play. I'd like to see us put a little faith in Bent and bring him on second half, see if he can give Dunne and Caulker a little bit of movement in the box to think about. Dunne has got the Beast in his pocket thus far.

I'd also bring on Cole for Weimann and switch to a diamond in midfield with Cole at the tip, Gabby and Bent up top.

We need to freshen things up. It's not working offensively.

The front 3 are a tried and tested failure. End of. Biut what does our great manager do, play em again.

Sanchez looks good but we just dont create anything. Cleverley can do one. Ł8m my arse.

No creativity and devoid of any ideas. Gabby is his useless self, not sure where he is playing.

Bring Charlie on and even give Cole ago. Where is Grealish

We will nothing with that no mark in charge. Then again all us fans know that. Unfortunately Lerner doesnt
Can't disagree with any of that.

I don't get why Cleverley is not being given a try right up behind the forward. He has excelled there in the past and is actually a decent player there.
I was really glad we signed him and that's where I thought he was bought to fit that role after Lambert's comments during the summer. I just don't bloody get it.
Title: Re: QPR vs Aston Villa Match Thread

Positives - Sanchez has been excellent, Westwood has played well too. Weimann has been busy.

Negatives - Gabby and Cleverley not being in the game, Lowton's crossing, Zamora physically dominating Vlaar

Piss poor from Lambert not to change it tactically and push Gabby on to the left and Cleverley central. This is the type of game that the likes of Cleverley should be delivering in, need far more from him in the second half.

Nobody, except Benteke, in that team has got a goal in them. NOBODY. Until that's corrected we'll continue to struggle. Most teams have long since worked out our score on the break tactics.

QPR are piss poor but we'll give them a second at the start of the second half & it'll be game over.

Need to ditch this mock 4-3-3 though, too predictable and not working.

We are the f in walking dead.....toward the championship

We will win this. We'll get one and then QPR will collapse. We are doing OK.
Are you pissed?

It is only going to take one goal. We are more than capable of scoring one goal. Once we do (we will) they will bottle it.

I hope you're right but frankly we look nowhere near scoring a goal. A second QPR goal is more likely.

Good grief, our throw-ins really are piss poor.

Everything has been piss poor

Not for me.  The first 20 mins we looked pretty good.  We just massively struggle to break any team down once behind.

Our throw-ins are just consistently woeful.

Creatively we're relying on our fullbacks. Cissokho is better defensively than going forward (to put it politely). Hutton has been good this season but again, he's not brilliant when it comes to final ball. Lowton playing today is showing that he's clearly out of his depth at this level.

We need more width from our offensive players. They always want to come infield but no one has the quality or guile to do anything with it.

Lambert has to go. Surely, he has to go? Piss fucking poor. Tony Pulis is out of work. Yeah I said it. He'd improve us. I've had 4 years of getting used to not being nice to watch. Sanchez has run out of steam. Badly. We're falling a fucking part. Injuries left, right and center, half fit players and absolutely no clue from management.

Lambert has to go. Surely, he has to go? Piss fucking poor. Tony Pulis is out of work. Yeah I said it. He'd improve us. I've had 4 years of getting used to not being nice to watch. I'd rather we were actually effective with it though. If we could get Moyes, that'd be even more ideal, but I don't think he'd come.

Third times a charm. I think we're down with Lambert this year. Something isn't right with our training and fitness either. All these injuries can't be down to bad luck alone.
We're missing Delph badly today, and Hutton. Even Senderos has been badly missed. Benteke is back a good month too soon.

To borrow from someone else on this site, it's "Sub-McLeishian."

You know things are bab, last season we had people wanting Fat Sam, this season Pullis. Oh dear oh dear

Id give him a ten mth contract and say keep us up because Im not sure Lambert will.

I know it is early, I know we had some decent results early on, I appreciate all the arguments against, but I genuinely think this is the season time runs out for us, and we go down.

We are laughably bad, laughably. No creativity, no guile, no nous

Does anyone REALLY think that this is the best that can be got out of these players?

100%.

I'm half convinced my former Sunday League manager would get more out of the squad.

We're dropping like that guy from Google, but without the fancy suit or parachute, but definitely picking up speed on the way down.

I said to my R's mate before the game, who'd said both Harry and Lambert were playing for there jobs today, that Lambert could boink Randy's wife and sister, shit in his office drawer and still not get fired.

Why we gave Lambert that contract is utterly beyond me. He has done absolutely nothing I can see in the time he's been with us except keep us up, and that more by luck than judgement. The position we are in has been signposted in red and we have taken no notice, in fact we have rewarded the fuck wit who has presided over it. Objectively, we deserve to go down.

You know what, same here. I really like Lambert but that does not mean he's a right fit for us. It's not working is it? Time for me to throw in the towel, it aint going to happen. The fella is just not what I hoped he would be.

when I look at him

his face is dour

his body language is dour

his team is dour

he makes me dour

To be fair to Benteke he has had to play with Gabby up front, who is awful.

Does he know he is supposed to be playing up front, 2 down on the break, he can't be arsed to get into the box, how he got a new contract is beyond me.

So many things wrong, don't know where to start.A mediocre midfield, no pace, urgency, ability, toothless attack.Crap

I'm sure there's
Lowest points total
Fewest goals scored
Worst goal difference.

Don't rule breaking his own records for fewest wins / most home defeats

If Fox has any power at all at the club he'll take an early flight out to the U.S. and iron on the details of Lambert's dismissal with Randy in person. You know that isn't happening even if we all know this simply cannot go on.

So exhausted by it all.

I'll put money on this but if you stuck him in the Everton line up he'd look brilliant. He has no chance of succeeding with is right now. None of the players do.
