poor quality but decent highlights. good defensive  play at the start and the bizarre sight of the railway end having both sets of fans

Brilliant. I loved the interviews and post match analysis as well.

That was the first Villa/Small Heath derby I ever went to. I was sitting in their main stand with my bluenose uncle.

My first Villa game at the Sty was the one where we got stuffed on boxing day and the coins were raining down from the Villa end.  I was on the Kop with my brother.

I ended up clicking onto another game at the end. Our 2-1 defeat in early 1984 at the sty. They had a number nine called McCarrick who I don't remember at all. I'm guessing a youngster who didn't play many games.

Horrible memories of that game - Howard Gayle scoring the winner and jumping on to the fences to gloat.

My form teacher that year at school and I didn't get on. He organized a sponsored walk and I was the only person in the class who didn't go as I went to that game. Monday morning he asked me if I thought a Birmingham Villa game was more important that raising money for a good cause. The thirteen year old me said yes. He asked me if I felt any regret. "Yes sir, we lost".

I met Allan Evans on Wednesday. I was visiting my sister in Cornwall and had heard Allan Evans lived down there so I took a few things in the hope of getting them signed. I gave him a call and he was happy to meet me at his local pub. He signed my stuff but couldn't stay as he had to go to work. He was really pleasant to me and my partner. He's also feeling the same pain we are at the moment.

Oh for a centre half who could defend and score

You'll never meet better people than former Aston Villa players. You'll never meet a better selection of former Villa players than the 1982 team. And you'll never meet a better member of that team than Allan Evans.

Last time I saw him on TV was when his son was performing on The Voice and he was backstage. Son was pretty good and the spitting image of his dad
