Saturday 4 October, 17:30
1-1
-
Not an earthly. 0-3
-
1-2 Delph for us, Dennis Tuart with a brace for them.
-
0-3
-
Will go 1-1. Gabby to get ours. City are really hit and miss right now and we tend to raise our game when we face them at Villa Park. A decent size crowd should help also. A point would be a good way to stop the slide and set up an interesting fixture at Goodison next time out.
-
2-1 Benteke with the winner. Heroes return
-
1-2
-
A hatrick of 3 nill defeats is what I'm expecting,
then we can consentrate on picking up some points, although not expecting great things at Everton if truth be told
-
1-3. Just pleased this run of games is over after this.
-
0-4
-
1-3. Just pleased this run of games is over after this.
Happy with a draw but this is nearer the mark I think - Hope we get a cameo from The Beast
-
2-1
Fred Turnbull and Dave Rudge for us. Colin Pigging Bell for them.
-
Depends on Ya Ya Toure. He's looking disinterested in most games. 1-1, I think. Frank Lampard for them. Joe Cole comes off the bench and scores for us!
-
0-3 loss
-
Joe Corrigan to play a blinder in goal for them. Tony Book parks the bus in front of the goal and Asa Hartford to pick us off on the counter.
-
Ugo Ehiogu to punch the ball in to the net, Uwe Rosler later equaliser for them.
-
A deliberate Keith Curle handball and a "Good Luck From the City of Manchester" flag unfurled
-
2-1 to us- David Platt and Richard Dunne for us, Darius Vassell with a late effort for them to make a nervy finish
-
Villa 2 (Geddis 45, Gibson 49) City 3 (Power (pen) 3) MacKenzie 37, Caton 64)
-
Villa 4 (David White og, David White og, David White og, David White og) - Man City 4 (David White, David White, David White, David White)
-
What's the latest on Ron? Draw if he plays, lose by a couple if he doesn't. That said, an appearance by The Beast as well could, maybe, perhaps, just nudge me off and over onto the optimistic side of the fence.
-
1-0 us. Benteke to score in the 85th minute followed by 10 minutes of defending.
-
Us 3 - 2 Them
Delph, Agbonlahor & Benteke for us. Aguero (2) for them.
-
Doesn't matter who we put on the field, we'll do ’em.
-
Snow? Santa Villa hats? Back-to-front drop-kick Spink to Daley via a Regis flick-on? Top corner screamer? Wonderful.
-
Gabby hattrick please. Left foot, right foot, head. That'll do for me.
-
All I hope for is that Benteke can get a decent run off the bench so that he's fully ready to tear Everton a new one next week
-
0-3 and we go again
-
We'll probably lose, but they're vulnerable to counter-attacks and dangerous centre-forwards, so who knows.
-
Fuck it. 3-2.
-
Lambert said Vlaar is a big doubt for Saturday apparently according to @AVFCOfficial on Twitter.
-
Delph to run right through the middle of their team and blast it in winning the game and the points. Then puts pen to paper and sign a new contract.
Come home Milner.
-
unless the beast comes on can't see us getting anything. Turgid 0-1. (* hope i'm very wrong *)
-
1-1 Sendeross
-
Oh crap I forgot about fat fwank, he loves playing us.
-
1-1. Lampard for that lot, Cleverley for us and plenty of ear-cupping in front of the away fans.
-
2-1 City.
-
OS
Christian Benteke looks set to be in the squad for the game against Man City this weekend.
Paul Lambert revealed that barring any last-minute hitches his intention is to include Benteke in the matchday group on Saturday.
It's a big boost for the forward, who played 60 minutes for the U21s on Monday against Bolton.
Lambert has been pleased with his progress and now hopes to see him available in the clash with the champions.
He said: "If everything goes okay tomorrow and he feels okay, then I will put Christian in the squad.
"He's come through the last few weeks unscathed.
"He played for an hour on Monday in the U21s.
"We will see how he is tomorrow but my intention is that he'll be in the squad.
"First and foremost, his leg is better - his achilles is okay. He has no ill effects on it whatsoever.
"He came through the U21s pretty good and trained for the rest of the week."
Ron Vlaar looks set to miss out on Saturday while Libor Kozak has had a setback in his return.
Vlaar has been absent against Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea after injuring his calf against Hull.
Lambert is hopeful of seeing the skipper soon after the international break.
Kozak was making good progress from his broken leg but his return has been put back.
He added: "Ron is doing really well. This one is probably too early. Hopefully we will see him after the break.
"Libor had another operation on Wednesday. He's had a setback on his leg but hopefully that will start to heal."
-
Dissapointing news about Kozak. I will be surprised if we see him before the new year. Wonder if Joe Cole will be on the bench with Benteke?.
Agbonlahor and Weimann up front again.
-
Villa to win two nil. With 7% possession.
-
1-3
-
0-6 lampyard to get hatrick and no celibrate
-
Perfect timing for Benteke's return to the squad. Depending on how things are going I would give him the last twenty minutes or so.
-
Damage limitation again. 0-2
-
Fu**it.
Forgot about fatfrank aswell....
Looks like we'll have to make do with the draw...
Bugger!
-
Ron vlaar is always one game away. We need him back
I can't really see us scoring never mind getting anything. I thought the same last season though too
-
3-1 in 1991. Daley volley.
-
We really need the 3 points to get our title challenge back on track.

I'm starting to worry we might not even make the Champions League.
-
Fuck me, I hope our boys aren't all shitting it like some of the fans. Let's go at them, let's win this. We did them last year, we can do it this year

Weather conditions may come into the equation. Saturdays forecast is for heavy rain at times. Their pampered 'stars' eg Ya Ya and Silva might find this a trifle depressing wheareas Cleverley, Delph, Westwood and Richardson should thrive.Cleverley in particular. I wouldnt play Benteke unless it becomes imperative as there is more of a chance of injuries on a wet pitch.
James Milner will no doubt be an important player for them.......if picked.
-
Stupid kick off time. Too early to eat before kick off, and get home too late to cook. This inconvenience could be tempered by a draw if the big man comes on, but fear another defeat in this awful run of fixtures.
-
A decent size crowd should help also.
We always seem to lose when there's a decent attendance down there.
-
I'm trying to work up the enthusiasm to be enthusiastic about our chances.
I can't.
-
Tough one to call. Of all the skywankfestmoneyonlythingthatmatters. Teams they are the ones who always look like they can be beaten but conversely catch them on a good day and they can wipe the floor with you.
Would take a score draw now if offered
-
They've always been a bogey side of ours since football began, even when they were shite. I dunno. I don't fancy it. Law of averages states that having beaten them last season, they'll absolutely pummel us this time around. I'd like to see us being more adventurous in attack though. I'll say 2-4. A last minute consolation from Benteke. Gabby to put us up and give us hope. Minus Vlaar I can't see us keeping their attack at bay though. Particularly not with Aguero's movement (if he plays).
-
anything from this would be great, but as said they usually do quite well vs The Villa even when they were penniless and shite and I'm missing our local Beer Festival so come on you Villa boys.
UTV
The Doc
-
I'm normally pretty optimistic about our chances- can't see us getting anything other than a hiding against city though, unfortunately.
On the plus side, whoever posted that goal of tony daley's in the snow - good on ya!
When it flies off his boot, I keep expecting it to go in the the top right corner, but it goes almost dead straight in the top left. Cheers Tone, what a strike. Good times supporting villa back then.
Edit: deano's mullet- cheers for posting :)

Ads in.
I will be glad when we can get back to playing mid-table pap like Stoke, Hull or Liverpool after this three game run.
I haven't been very impressed with Man City so far and think they look vulnerable still at the back. Still, if they turn up, it will be a very difficult game.
-
Fuck me, I hope our boys aren't all shitting it like some of the fans. Let's go at them, let's win this. We did them last year, we can do it this year
Thank you, General Haig. ;)

As someone else said further up the thread, of all the big money top six clubs, Man City are the ones who look unpredictable.
I think on their day, they're much better than the others, but they are way more prone to having "not their day" days than the rest.
This fixture last year was a typical example. The first half was genuinely one of the most one-sided games of football I've ever seen. I'd never have believed what happened in the second half would have done so if we'd played that fixture a hundred times.
We live in hope.
-
I have always though that no matter how bad you're playing, when there is only one goal in it, you're still in with a chance.
Last year against Man City is one example, but perhaps the ebst was at Anfield under O'Neill in a mid-week game where we drew 2-2. Harewood came on and we changed the game after being utter tosh for the majority of it.
-
With Bacuna out of favour we need someone else to emerge and become a hero for one day.

Would love it to be young Jack

I reckon Benteke will start tomorrow now. Just a feeling.
CHARGE!!!!!!
-
No doubt our manager will approach this game as he does every other home game, one up front and no width in the team . Us 1 Them 4
-
We need to keep Asa Hartford and Paul Power quiet if we are to get anything.

so good to have you and optimism back
-
OS ticket thingy. Looks like many people opting for the boozer for this one.
-
Going from over 40k to what looks like a low 30k.
The team really needs to start putting performances in at home.
-
You can't really blame people when they put up premium prices for a game that's on the telly.
-
I might have the Upper Trinity to myself. I'll be able to non league it and swap ends so as i'm sat at the end we're attacking.
-
They'd better fucking win, I've given up the chance of going to the last ever Jim Jones Revue gig to take my son to this match.
8-0 at least.
-

we should have won that game but Crouch got last minute equalizer for them I think.
-
I just need us to be 2 or 3 goals up or down after 80 minutes. I know, I know, but I have to drive for 15 minutes to a thing that starts at bang on 7.30. Don't Sky know that a handful of us have lives?
-
This is what I love about being a football fan - nobody gives us a chance but we are all still going...
Come on Villa!
-
I might have the Upper Trinity to myself. I'll be able to non league it and swap ends so as i'm sat at the end we're attacking.
Then kindly keep to the cheap seats, we don't want some johnny-come-lately interrupting our premium-priced moaning.
-
I paid nearly £14 for it! I should get caviar at HT for that price.
-
1-2 City.
Think we'll have a good performance though and take the lead, been a while since we've been in the lead and lost a game.
Benteke should get 20 minutes aswell which will lift things.
-
I've woken up this morning with renewed optimism. 2-1 to our Villa boys.
-
This is why a top club will never sign Ron - to injury prone
1-3 Lamp arse will score and agero and the tall geezer
Delph for us
-

You're only going down so you can play 'spot the reindeer'.
-
Is vlaar out again ??
-
Is vlaar out again ??
Most likely, yes.
-
I have woke up optimistic.I predict they will sack Ron Saunders, he will join us and lead us to glory after years in the wilderness.
-
I'm weirdly optimistic too, could do without Lampard though!
2-1 us.
-
Cold, grey and wet - feels like a proper football day.
-
Or one of Wayne Rooney's dates.

Well we might be out of the game by then anyway...

Weather has gone quite pleasant.

Its a bit nippy stood outside waiting for some lazy bigger to arrive by bus
