It's either that or I suspect simply a case of Baker and Clarks combined 150+ Premier League appearences compared to Okores 150 or so minutes. I think we'll see Okore eased in over easier games.

On paper we could be getting absolutely trounced today. That's a side that's a country mile better than the Arsenal side we played last week, and a whole shit load more betterer than the Liverpool side we beat.
But...we normally (the odd horrible exception aside) play quite well against Chelsea.

I think it'll go one of two ways. We'll either get a result, or we'll fall apart and get royally pillocked by 6-7 goals.

I don't. I think we'll set just like we did at Liverpool and squeeze them every time they attack into a small space in our third denying them space. We don't have Bennett and Lowton at full back, but two good ones who are also very good in the air. If we lose it will be by at the very most two goals. I still think we can come away with something.

I think the management and medical staff of Aston Villa would be better placed to make that decision, having worked with the player for the last few months. They obviously feel he's not ready.

We've done okay. We're still in it, but I think one more from Chelsea will kill us.
Too many high hopeful early crosses are going in the box. We need to use a bit more of our pace and movement up front, not play balls in that suit Benteke. We're a bit too static at times in possession. When we up the tempo a bit and show some movement, we look half decent on the ball.

Still it's all a bit of a stroll in the park for Chelsea. We've offered no threat.
I'd like to see us be a bit more adventurous. I'd sacrifice Weimann for either Grealish or Zogbia.

That's a bit strong. We've defended well against a team that is likely to win the league and passed the ball well. Ok, we need a bit more up front but if we had Benteke back, we would have a much greater threat.

If I was offered 3 points from the 3 games against Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, I'd have said yes without hesitation.

I guess the plan is to keep things tight/bore them to sleep until maybe the 75 minute mark, then open up a little and try to luck into an equaliser.

After that good early start though they look pretty devoid of ideas going forward though. Just a bunch of speculative long balls/crosses which Terry and Cahill are gobbling up

Mourinho will have them at it from the start of the second half trying to get that second goal so he can rest a few players. I worry that the players he brings on will really do us a lot more damage.

No, Phil Neal said:

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

Unambitious crap, Villa. Really awful set piece deliveries from Westwood, the most recent corner and the free kick just before their second. Disappointing and predictable tactics from Lambert.

The simple, and very depressing, fact is that Chavski are a far better side than we are. That and this game coming on the back off the virus I suppose we haven't done too bad. Better than a lot of us thought we would. I just hope we don't do a collapse now.

I appreciate Andi works his bollocks off but he's so poor when we're on the attack. He's no a left midfielder by any stretch of the imagination. I'd honestly sacrifice a bit of that work for some balance on the left and potential threat in Zogbia.
We need to make 1-2 changes now that's for sure. There's no point showing zero attacking intent and quality. We don't have to be gung ho, but we might as well sacrifice Andi and/or Richardson for a bit more quality.

Unfortunately so. Without trying to sound like a whiny teenager, it's just no fair. It's miles off being a level playing field. Trouble is too, having beat them last season, it was always going to make all the harder because Mourinho would have been champing at the bit to undo that result. As it is, they've not even had to break sweat.

Got to be happy that 3 games into a run of 5 hard games a second consecutive defeat has seen us slip from 3rd to 5th or 6th with 10 points on the board. We look much improved over last year. What's all the griping about?
Replace Bent and N'Zogbia in january for some younger slimmer more interested talent and we might be handy...
