Baker out, Clark in. Good job we signed Senderos!
-
Whats up with Okore? 5th choice at the moment when he was highly thought of
-
Yeah I do wonder when Okore is going to get a game. It's a pretty strong Arsenal side, I really hope we turn up.
-
Win please Villa.
-
Aston Villa: Guzan; Hutton, Senderos, Clark, Cissokho; Cleverley, Westwood, Delph; Weimann, Agbonlahor, Richardson
-
Yeah I do wonder when Okore is going to get a game. It's a pretty strong Arsenal side, I really hope we turn up.
I didn't think so actually, not relatively speaking anyway, I think we can get on top of them in midfield
-
I just think it's fitness with Okore. Is he playing reserve games?
-
Guzan, Senderos, Hutton, Clark, Cissokho, Delph, Westwood, Cleverley, Richardson, Weimann, Agbonlahor (c)
subs: Given, Bacuna, Okore, Sanchez, Grealish, Lowton, N’Zogbia.
In from the cold is Ciaran Clark which is a bit of stunner. Baker has to be injured which is a real shame. There must be some strategy to this as Clark is more left sided than Okore or Baker so maybe that came in the thinking. I'm all for rotation and picking players for certain circumstances. Let's just hope Clark does for us what Baker did last week. Okore is obviously being slowly brought back in. He's still one for the future.
-
Yeah I hope it's just a case of them not wanting to rush Okore back.
-
No Sanchez for them in the starting line up is a bit of a plus
-
Baker's picked up a virus.
-
No Sanchez for them in the starting line up is a bit of a plus
I think he is starting isn't he?
-
Oh yeah I see he's dropped to the bench now.
-
Lowtons back in from the cold I see.
-
Baker's picked up a virus.
Same for Darren Bent. Probably why Lowton's on the bench.
-
I think Okore is still a way away. In pre-season he looked very composed but did have tendancy to try his luck on the ball a bit too often and sometimes get himself into trouble. He'll have to be a bit more careful in this league. But he's a young lad with about 3 games under his belt at this level, so we'll ease him in.
It might be fitness, but at this stage, if he's 5th choice, it doesn't surprise me at the moment. Some games we are going to need him though, because he's got a lot of pace. If Hutton were to get injured, it may be worth easing him in at right back. He's played there. He's quick, and he's comfortable on the ball, and if he does fanny around on the ball and get caught out, it may not be as dangerous as if he's in the middle.
-
Baker's picked up a virus.
Same for Darren Bent. Probably why Lowton's on the bench.
And Westwood, so Sanchez in for us
-
Fucking hell this virus is moving quick, good luck Carlos. It's a shame because Westwood has been really good this season.
-
I think we'll be one or two down within 25 mins tbh
-
I think we'll be one or two down within 25 mins tbh
That's the spirit!
-
Come on Villa! Good afternoon everyone
-
Send out The Rock. Mission is to kill. Leave none alive. Show no mercy.
-
I think we'll be one or two down within 25 mins tbh
If you posted anything different I'd assume you are really, really ill.
-
Baker's picked up a virus.
Same for Darren Bent. Probably why Lowton's on the bench.
And Westwood, so Sanchez in for us
So I hear. That's a late change.
-
Is Wenger pulling the same shit he got away with the day Spurs missed out on the Champions League at West Ham? Cheating git.
-
Decent crowd at VP today but not close to 40k at the moment.
-
Brilliant move that, unlucky.
-
Good start.
-
Good start. Great work by Andi and Gabby.
-
Great closing down. I think that's what you have to do with Arsenal, get in their faces and hassle them
-
Afternoon lads and lasses - hope you are all well?!?
Not expecting great things from this today but I'm hoping that if it is a loss, it's nothing too disheartening.
-
We are doing very well.
-
Great ball by Tom there.
-
John Major and Randy at the match. Glory hunters!
-
Weimann doing a lot of running up front.
-
Great start this, Arsenal not having much possession in their final third and we're looking sharp up front.
-
They're starting to pressure us now.
-
I can't remember having this much faith in our defence.
-
OMG! that was close...
-
Unlucky! Should have scored though.
-
Clark unlucky.
-
Lucky Arsenal. The goalie knew jack shit about that.
-
Shit, should have scored there.
Great delivery from Cleverley though.
-
Am liking TC23's dead balls so far.
-
Unlucky Clark
-
Clark should have scored ffs.
-
I'm impressed with Cleverly I must say. A good range of passing and energetic.
-
Are we two down yet ?
-
Am liking TC23's dead balls so far.
Same here he's put some good ones in so far.
-
Our deference does seem fairly confident at the moment...
-
You can say clark should have scored but he got his header down and on target, and I think went the right side. Unlucky.
-
We need to stop these hospital balls, twice we've been caught in a few mins.
-
Delph>Ozil
-
We look like a top half team to me. So do Arsenal.
Sanchez looks a little off the pace to me. Must be a big step up in pace from where he's played before.
-
Bollocks.
-
Ooops
-
Shit.
-
arses.
-
Fuckety fuck fuck.
-
Totally undeserved. Who went to sleep there.
This will be a test now.
-
Fuck fuck fuck.
-
Fuck shit fuck
-
Back to last season. *Sigh*
-
Gone to fucking pieces.
-
FFS, 2.
-
Bollocks Ozil and Wellbeck
-
Clark.
-
Clark looks the weak link to me.
-
Well that was a bad time to tune in!
I am blaming that entirely on the presence of Clark. I haven't seen anything else of the match , of course, so that's just an educated guess.
Oh fuck me! Welbeck gets one now!
-
Well, fuck that.
-
So I was 7 minutes out
-
And collapse....
It was going to happen sooner rather than later.
-
Undeserved, but it's all gone to shit.
-
So I was 7 minutes out
I'm pleased for you
-
Clark looked lost on the second
-
Clark is a donkey
-
Oh fucking hell.
-
Are we two down yet ?
Yes
-
So I was 7 minutes out
You must be delighted.
-
Oh jesus.
-
Shit 3
-
Oh my goodness, this is catastrophic. 3 goals in four minutes.
-
Wow. Just fucking wow.
-
Ha, good ole Villa are back.
-
Jesus fucking h Christ. 3 down in 2 minutes. The curse of the stupid new contract strikes.
-
Shame. Good start, gone to shit.
-
What the fuck is going on. It could only happen to Villa
-
fucking hell, warnock esque from Cissokho
reality check and this could get a lot worse
-
Well this was the worry. How paper thin that confidence was going to be. Especially with 2 late illnesses to contend with. Have to say I started to question Sanchez a game or two back - He mat just need time to settle but I don't think he's better than what we've got. Good half hour but now we're in trouble.
-
Like a match in 84 I seem to remember
-
FFS, they're tearing us a new arse'ole.
And we haven't played that badly
-
Reality bites. Cant knock them on the previous four games but this is the real Lambert Villa. Why do we fall apart so quickly? 3 goals in 5 minutes? Game over.
-
Fucking twats.
-
Shit going forward...now shit at the back.
-
Jesus fucking h Christ. 3 down in 2 minutes. The curse of the stupid new contract strikes.
Yes because that is what it was!
Piss awful defending for all 3. We had done really well up to the first. The third is just bloody lucky though, cross shot miss hit and Cissokho covered the Chaimberlain run behind.
Clark does look a liability.
-
3 in 5 minutes is inexcusable.
-
Who's on the bench today?
-
So I was 7 minutes out
You must be delighted.
Nope just had a feeling of awful things to come
-
Hope that's not coffee I can smell,
-
What an absolute disaster. I've only been watching for the last five minutes, but we look pretty much how we looked for most of the last two years.
-
Hey guys, I'm taking full blame for this. Woke up a little late here in the states and just flipped the game on. Arse scored the second I turned it on. Then we went full-Brazilian after that. Just flipped it off after the last one, so hopefully we can recover. :-\
-
Clark does look a liability.
Off for Okore at HT.
-
Some trademark defending for the 2nd and 3rd goals. Clark was marking no one on the second.
Can we stop the match now please.
1) Arsenal are good and by far the best team we've played this season and 2) we're not very good.
-
i'm glad we didn't knee-jerk and give our hapless manager a 4 yr contract after the shock of a win at Anfield
-
What an absolute disaster. I've only been watching for the last five minutes, but we look pretty much how we looked for most of the last two years.
We were fairly good until the goals happened to be fair
-
For half an hour we were the better side, how the fuck are we 3 down 5 mins later.
-
Definately need one back before half time
-

Nope, Arsenal were very ordinary til we fell to sleep.
-

Sanchez is miles off the pace
the way we crumbled is reminiscent of Lambert's reign of terror
-

Well, at least that's something. I'd rather be fairly good before we turn to utter shit than just be utter shit throughout. ;-)
-

Is it on the box?
-

Same thing in the same fixture last season except it was only 2-0 then. sigh.
-
I think if we're all honest then we knew we we're going to get tonked in a game or 2 coming up. We haven't exactly been class despite being second in the league and we all know about Clark.
-
Some trademark defending for the 2nd and 3rd goals. Clark was marking no one on the second.

Arsenal aren't good? No, of course they aren't.
-
So I was 7 minutes out
Enjoy yourself. We were shit weren't we and deserved it?
-
I had a feeling we would get found out today. We have lucked out...Clarke missed a free header then went to shit, he needs to go im afraid
-
I'd take a draw now.
-
What an absolute disaster. I've only been watching for the last five minutes, but we look pretty much how we looked for most of the last two years.
We were fairly good until the goals happened to be fair
Hm. I thought it was just a matter of time until they unlocked the midfield. We were booting it up field to no one as well.
Again, players that need goals score against us.
-

I remarked on that when he came on last week, he looked completely lost. We might as well get Okore and Grealish on here at half time to give them game time if we are going to lose anyway
-
WTF hit us
-

Arsenal aren't good? No, of course they aren't.
Until they scored (gifts from our until now solid defence) they looked fairly limited to long range passes and shots to me. They're all over us now of course, but their tails are up and full of confidence.
-
The players look fucked. Need to get them in for half-time, and tell them to go out and have a go without worrying about letting more in. Try to get a bit of confidence back.
-
I'd take a draw now.
dreams
-
We're going to see what Lambert's plan B is soon.
-
3 quick goals and were right back in it !
-
Sanchez is having a shocker
-
We're just shit whenever we go above 34k attendance at Villa Park.
Just close the North Stand and we're laughing.
Sanchez needs another 6 months in the reserves to get up to speed, he's nowhere near the pace of the game and really shows how we miss Westwood.
-
Francis on the commentary just said there are 2-3 in the side out there also suffering this virus. Not really surprised we are looking pretty ropey.
-
We're going to see what Lambert's plan B is soon.
Book Father Christmas in for a half-time sky dive, followed by the greatest of all comebacks?
-
Would love to be a fly on the wall in our dressing room now. Who rips them a new bollock, Lambert or Keane cos I know who i'd pick to do it. But like you say, we did alright until, the first goal.
-
Jesus. From genuinely wondering how good we were and that we could quite easily win this to hoping we don't concede 6.
-
I think we've passed it about fine. And looked good. Proper football though isn't it?
One great save and a blind block and the story could be different.
-
Sanchez looks completely wank as well. Not impressed at all
-
Oh well, at least we'll be first on MOTD...
-
If you are going to look for weak links, then Sanchez and Clark are certainly the candidates for me.
-
Phew! Almost 4-0. Would've been game over if that had happened...
-
I thought he looked alright in his brief prior appearances, but Sanchez is having a bit of a 'mare today, isn't he?!
-
Apart from that mentalist 5 mins we looked ok overall.
-
Sanchez has been chasing shadows all game. Cleverley and Delph have been good. I thought we looked comfortable in defence apart from the 3 minutes when it was just like watching Brazil.
-
I see we are back to their normal obliging selves Welbeck needing a goal and Ozil needing to find some form.
-
I thought he looked alright in his brief prior appearances, but Sanchez is having a bit of a 'mare today, isn't he?!
Miles off the pace ,not much help defending or keeping hold of the ball.
Westwood missing makes big differance
-
So I was 7 minutes out
Enjoy yourself. We were shit weren't we and deserved it?
Pretty much should be 1-3 though
-
Would love to be a fly on the wall in our dressing room now. Who rips them a new bollock, Lambert or Keane cos I know who i'd pick to do it. But like you say, we did alright until, the first goal.
and done absolutely nothing since
-
Lets not forget we could very easily have been 2-0. We've been decent other than that 5 minute spell. We didn't deserve that. Come on Villa.
-
Need to change at half time Sanchez off and go 4-4-2
-
Well I am flabbergasted by this score line. No way they deserve to be ahead never mind 3-0 ahead. Having said that not impressed with Sanchez. He is asleep.
-
Sanchez def needs to come off at HT otherwise I won't confident getting the win.
-
The real Aston Villa have turned up today. Gutless, spineless and passionless
-
Defensive crumbling.
Maybe a reminder that's not as much in or history as we thought?
Clark is awful.
-
Sanchez has to come off, completely off the pace of the game.
-
Lets not forget we could very easily have been 2-0. We've been decent other than that 5 minute spell. We didn't deserve that. Come on Villa.
Sorry but this game is over, it was at 0-2
-

definitely would bring Grealish in at half time, to give the crowd a boost more than anything. Maybe go to three at the back with Okore coming in and Cissokho coming off, Richardson back onto the left. There is the danger of a Chelsea style 8-0 here I reckon. Arsenal playing some lovely one touch passes around our box.
-
Let's not overreact. Arsenal have been pretty good this season, and we more than matched them except for a five-minute period where they showed why they're a top team. Our run had to end sometime, so let's not go mental.
-
Defensive crumbling.
Maybe a reminder that's not as much in or history as we thought?
Clark is awful.
The only way I can see Clark making it is as a midfielder. He just doesn't fill me with any confidence as a CH.
-
If you are going to look for weak links, then Sanchez and Clark are certainly the candidates for me.
And Ozil is in exactly that area gaining confidence every minute he can reign free....
-
Apart from that mentalist 5 mins we looked ok overall.
Isn't that just what good teams do to us though? We conceded two in two minutes at home against them last year as well.
We would probably now need to create as many chances as we have in four and a half games so far this season in order to get something from this second half.
-
The real Aston Villa have turned up today. Gutless, spineless and passionless
Blimey, that's a bit harsh.
We're not spineless or gutless. Clark isn't good enough and Sanchez looks so slow it could be one of us in midfield!
Arsenal are exactly the wrong team to be a few behind against. I wouldn't rule out this ending up 5 or 6.
-
30 decent minutes followed by 5 minutes as bad as the 15-0 period two seasons ago, followed by a mediocre last 10 minutes. Game over.
I think we need to get Zogbia and/or Cole on now.
Sanchez is having an absolutely abysmal full debut. He's way off being ready. He doesn't know where to position himself. Doesn't know who he's marking. Is way too slow on the ball. 9 times out of 10 when the ball gets on him, before he's even come close to making a decision on what to do with it, he's been tackled. He's making Sylla look like Yaya Toure. He's got to come off because they're now carving through our middle.
Cleverely has been poor too. Despite a solid debut he's perhaps still short of a bit of confidence and he went to shite after their first goal.
I'd be tempted to take off Sanchez and Cleverley and bring on N'Zogbia and Cole or Grealish. Play a 4-2-3-1 with Delph and Rico holding. We've got to go for it now. There's nothing to lose.
We've actually really missed Westwood today (aside from obviously missing Vlaar massively too). Westy offered a bit of composure and nous from deep. No one is really coming back to start things off. Sanchez is the deeper mid, but he's been dreadful.
-
I can't remember having this much faith in our defence.
No!
-
Lets not forget we could very easily have been 2-0. We've been decent other than that 5 minute spell. We didn't deserve that. Come on Villa.
Sorry but this game is over, it was at 0-2
Agreed, but lets not get suicidal about the team. It's the kind of clichéd thing I hate to say, but you can see there are positive signs there. Sod this game, keep it respectable(ish), on to the next one.
-
Defensive crumbling.
Maybe a reminder that's not as much in or history as we thought?
Clark is awful.
The only way I can see Clark making it is as a midfielder. He just doesn't fill me with any confidence as a CH.
To be fair, he's fifth choice. Nobody's fifth choice centre-back is going to be much good.
-
Cleverely has been poor too. Despite a solid debut he's perhaps still short of a bit of confidence and he went to shite after their first goal.
Agree with most of your post, but Cleverly has done well for me.
-
The real Aston Villa have turned up today. Gutless, spineless and passionless
****! unbelievable comment.

To be fair, he's fifth choice. Nobody's fifth choice centre-back is going to be much good.
So why isn't Okore starting today then? Honest question. If he's fit enough to be on the bench....
-
Lets not forget we could very easily have been 2-0. We've been decent other than that 5 minute spell. We didn't deserve that. Come on Villa.
Sorry but this game is over, it was at 0-2
The glee. Weird really.
-
People as ever seem to revel in it going wrong for us.
Sanchez and Clark, thrown in together for the first time, against Arsenal is the reality.
-
Just highlights our deficiences.Lack of pace in the central defence for the 1st, poor positioning by Clark for the 2nd, and unlucky by Aly for the 3rd.
I do think we are a bit unlucky tbh, should have gone 1 up, Sanchez obviously got to get up to pace, Cleverley not on the ball enough. We do need to keep the ball better, and for longer.Agreed would bring Jack on, and probably Okores as well.We have lost this game, so lets have a look at some of the younger players.
-
We've actually really missed Westwood today (aside from obviously missing Vlaar massively too). Westy offered a bit of composure and nous from deep. No one is really coming back to start things off. Sanchez is the deeper mid, but he's been dreadful.
We have missed him. Westwood has looked a different player this season so far, which is why I was indifferent about Cleverly as I think they're too similar.
Sanchez looks like KEA. Which is not encouraging, but he'll take a while to settle and it's a bit unreasonable to judge him this early.
-
Safest bet of the day today, us losing. Always happens: win a couple, fill the ground and then concede against the run of play.
The thing that has disappointed me about Sanchez is that he rarely offers himself to be available. He has been hiding, resulting in us passing the ball back.
Our shape just went as soon as number 1 went in. Concentration, pure and simple.
Up to then, we looked quite decent.
It's a shame the virus has depleted the team that beat Liverpool. I hope that is the only reason Clark was preferred to Baker.
This game certainly does not need to non-mobility of Joe Cole - need to consider CNZ or Grealish.
Nick
-
I can't remember having this much faith in our defence.
No!
Between that and slagging off Ozil I feel pretty responsible. Sorry.
-
As soon as I saw Clarks name on the teamsheet I had a sense of dread his career at Villa is practically over How unlucky are we to face an injury riddled Arsenal only for us to get hit by a bug , unacceptable capitulation mind.
-
And there was me looking forward to seeing us top of the league.
-
No idea why Clark started over Okore. Madness.
-
And there was me looking forward to seeing us top of the league.
We'll get there eventually! :D
-
Barring some sort of miracle, this is lost. We're still struggling with injuries to key players in key areas though; we don't look dangerous and the defence has three players out.
Arsenal looked, to me, like they had the measure of our midfield for a few minutes before the first goal; their movement was a lot better and our defence cannot cope with the runs Ozil and Welbeck are making.
-
Grealish on, Weimann off
-
Jack on for Andi. Not the change I was expecting.
-
Fair play bringing Grealish on, no pressure, just go have some fun.
-
I'm guessing Weimanns under the weather.
-

Certainly he's obviously got ability but I think he needs easing in over the "easier" games. This is too much too soon, against a side where you have no time on the ball and have to think a couple of moves ahead. Language may still be holding him back at this stage too.
-
Still playing one up front
-
If Clark is fifth choice how come Okore is on the bench?
He's shown repeatedly he is no centre half.
-
Between that and slagging off Ozil I feel pretty responsible. Sorry.
Like I said earlier, I've had this game on the tube all of 3 minutes before I turned it back off. I feel as responsible as anyone!
-
Glad to see Grealish on with ample time. There's no pressure on him. We've probably lost already, so he can express himself and hopefully give us at least something to smile about this evening.
-
If Clark is fifth choice how come Okore is on the bench?

He's no anything.
-
Lambert doesn't do himself any favours sometimes. It's quite clear Sanchez is having an absolute nightmare out there. He should have come off at half time, for his own good just as much as ours.
-
No sign of a plan B. We're still playing counter attack. Unfortunately it doesn't work very well when you're losing.
-
Trevor Francis rightly highlighting Villa's awful tactics and that Sanchez needs to be removed. Not sure how our manager cant see it
-
Trevor Francis rightly highlighting Villa's awful tactics and that Sanchez needs to be removed. Not sure how our manager cant see it
And he still won't see it in 2018.
-
I was under the impression Okore was working his way back to fitness, which is why he didn't start. If he's fully fit, then frankly playing Clark was a silly decision.
-
Trevor Francis rightly highlighting Villa's awful tactics and that Sanchez needs to be removed. Not sure how our manager cant see it
I can only assume we are into damage limitation. Since the first goal we have done nothing.
-
It's amazing that the only player in our side at the moment who doesn't look rushed and nervy on the ball is the skinny 19 year old boy with the silly hair and low socks.
-
will some one tell lambert we are losing 3 -0 unless we can start putting pressure on there back 4 then we are done
-
I've only been watching for 10 minutes, please sub Sanchez off Lambo.
-
Incredible how so many are on PL's back after a bad first half, fickle response to be expected I guess. Decent start and everybody seems to think we should be up there. As I see it we have 7 more points towards the magic 40 than I thought we'd have :)
-
At least we look a threat from corners this season.
-
Sanchez sounds awful. Why is he not subbed ?
-
great run from Gabby there, Sanchez really car crash stuff from him now
even get Bacuna on for a bit more pace in midfield
-
It's a really sad sight watching Sanchez today. The longer he stays on the more damage it'll do him. He's got to come off ASAP.
-

it is inexplicable

There's that word again.
Using that word against fellow Villa fans is really low, IMO. It just makes me think you agreed with David O'Leary in his assessment of us.
-
Ref bottled a decision then
-
Cheating bastard Chambers should be off.

I could kind of see the logic in keeping him on if you base it on the the game being lost. So give Sanchez a chance to get into things. But he has been wank.
And that should have been a red.
-
If Sanchez got a red card right now, our overall performance level would improve. He's playing that badly.
-
Jacks quality. He seems so unfazed. Lets bring on Cole for Sanchez and have two composured players who'll keep the ball better for us.
-
I'm beginning to think we may not win today.

It's been as bad an individual performance as I can remember. It's almost up there with George Weah's "cousin" and I wish I was exaggerating.
It's a huge game way too soon for Carlos.
-
Fuck me, we are 3-0 down and the bell ends in the north stand are keeping the ball again. Wtf
-
North Stand still think it's funny to keep the ball. It's our time you are wasting you knobs.
-
Fuck me, we are 3-0 down and the bell ends in the north stand are keeping the ball again. Wtf
Yeah that's pretty annoying.
-
Every fan who doesn't give the ball back when it goes into the crowd should be punched hard by the Steward. So fucking hiliarious not giving the ball back. Twats. Makes us look fucking stupid.
-
I wish the twat of a commentator would stop going on about Arse's record at VP. Boils my piss.
-
Incredible how so many are on PL's back after a bad first half, fickle response to be expected I guess. Decent start and everybody seems to think we should be up there. As I see it we have 7 more points towards the magic 40 than I thought we'd have :)
There's that word again.
Using that word against fellow Villa fans is really low, IMO. It just makes me think you agreed with David O'Leary in his assessment of us.
Don't be do bloody silly. There are a few on here who show the emotional irrationalism and flightiness of a Jane Austen heroine.

Well we should do something about it really.
We do well against them at their place generally.
-
We look like we have given up.
Either that or we just don't know what are are doing.
-
Nice bit of play there. Despite the scoreline there are still some positives.
-
3 - 0 down, one striker on.
What the fuck man.
This is dumb.

If it was directed at a few then that'd be alright. Calling 'fickle' at the fifth game of the season and claiming that people thought we were back at the top is pretty bloody silly to me.
-
Even if its a bad home game for Villa and Lambert....its even worse to play home for Pardew I think !
-
. Decent start and everybody seems to think we should be up there.
That's blatantly untrue.

I went to eat some curry at half time. What's the 2nd half been like? Same as the first?
-
Grealish has taken 20 minutes and he's already our man of the match. We're getting mullered today. We're nervy and clueless on the ball, but he looks so unfazed and composed all the time, despite the quality of opposition. I'd have absolutely no qualms about starting Grealish against Chelsea and Man City. Would the occasion be too big for him? I don't think so. He's more composed than anyone else in the side today.

3 - 0 down, one striker on.

The rest of our strikers all have some form of leg-associated knack :(

So do you think I may have been a bit premature getting my "AVFC Premier League Champions 2015" tattoo?

On my way, David.
-
Newcastle get one back and the toon fans look almost pissed off !
-
This game was conceded in the dressing room at half time. I'd be well hacked off if i'd paid to see the team not even attempting to get back into the game.
-
Sods law that Ozil has his best game in ages. Bastard.
-
To make it worse, the pub in London I'm in has a group of 20-something year old bearded uber-quiffed hipsters supporting Arsenal. One of their friends (beardless, bald and not a hipster) supports the Villa he is a good person.
At half-time the ABSOLUTE FUCKING ****** sang along to Coldplay.

Is Benty injured too?
-
Anyway bobo, didn't you flounce off a while back?
-
We look like we have given up.
Either that or we just don't know what are are doing.
Remarkably, we have shown in the recent past that we are quite capable of doing both.
-
Why are we sitting so deep still? Ridiculous. Just go for it.

He's got the same virus as Baker apparently.

Nah, he's got a bug.
Still, another striker we're short of :/
-
Triple substitution for Arsenal. Ideally they could do with bringing on 3 Villa players instead of their own....
-
That Giroud song really gets on my tits. Arsenal fans are fucking cringe.
-
Well this is right out of the McLeish book of anti football
-

What would you do?
-
We should have changed our system on about 60mns. Lamberk is happy with a -3 draw. Arrrrrgggghhh
-
I can't believe Sanchez is still on. It'd be kinder to have spent the whole game with Roy Keane waterboarding him in the changing room.
-
This half has been shit, but if we'd gone for it and conceded another 3 or 4 it would have totally destroyed confidence and Lambert would have been slaughtered for being naive.
-
Well this is right out of the McLeish book of anti football
What would you do?
Try to get back into the game
-
Well i've had enough of watching.
-
Bugger. :(
-
We don't need Gabby back defending too. Leave him up on the Gooner center backs. At least give us some sort of out ball. We can't even counter effectively at the moment.
-

How?
-
Having said that, 20% possession in the second half is woeful.
-
I take it we're not controlling the game this week?
-
Bacuna on for Sanchez.
-
Ah well, we've been worse than a team which is better than us. If you'd offered me this position before the season starts I'd have ripped your arm out of its socket. This is a great position still.
-

You're right Monty. We all knew we'd lose a game or two in this stretch. It will be something we can learn from. The midfield balance was affected as was the defence with late changes. It has shown today. That said Arsenal are a very good team and can and will do this to others.
-
I take it we're not controlling the game this week?
Half the team is out trying to control their sphincters...Clark though have been shitting himself right there on the pitch !
-
Who is the Clarke fella people keep mentioning? I've looked at our squad and see no one of this name.
-
I hope this isn't a season long tactic when we're behind

A complete waste of time coming out second half
-
Spending the second half defending a 0-3 score is terrible tactics by Lambert.
-
Christ, the Villa park faithful sure get a kick in the teeth whenever they show up in numbers don't they?
-
to use the same tactics at 3 nil down as at nil nil is pretty stupid.
we are at home, a lot of people have paid good money so the least you would expect is some intent.
Lambert out
-
What would you be saying if we'd gone for it and conceded another 3 or 4?

Alternatively...

Something is still sorely lacking in our training work regarding possession. Our players look so clueless on the ball when they're pressed with any sort of tempo. Grealish on the ball looked an absolute class above everyone else in our side today. Totally un-rushed, totally composed and always looked like he was think a few moves ahead. He's only 12 FFS. Our other players should be keeping the ball better than they are.
Sitting back when 3-0 down was a bit McLeish.
We've ultimately been outdone by a much better side. We can't concern ourselves too much. Just move on and concentrate on the next game. Arsenal at home is always a bastard for us. We tend to do better against Chelsea, so I hope we have some confidence for that game.
Grealish should start. He doesn't waste the ball. And the sooner Benteke gets back the better.
-
What would you be saying if we'd gone for it and conceded another 3 or 4?
Personally I'd have taken the gamble and pushed on. We showed in the first 30 minutes that their defence could be got at. Chambers got an early booking and we should have been bullying him all game.
I'd have fancied us to score 1-2, even if we'd probably have conceded again. I don't think pushing forward would have seen us concede another 3-4 though.
I also think it was an error not getting the ball to Grealish as much as possible.
