Title: Your best Villa 11 of the premiership era?
Post by: QBVILLA on June 04, 2014, 12:46:50 PM
Only rule that they played 50+ games for the club. Whatever formation you want, and who would be the manager?

Bugger, no Solano then....I'll just do players from when I've had a season ticket. Unfair to judge players I didn't watch much.

I've just "Wikipedia'd" Dalian Atkinson.

"Atkinson is now a self employed cobbler in the West Bromwich area."

Really? In my mind he seemed to play about 300 games. I could never figure out why he was in the team, he was crap.

I thought he was an o.k signing at the time as he was decent at Charlton. We nearly signed Matt Holland around that period aswell.

He was only with us between 2002-04 and he barely played in 03-04 so no chance the fingerpointer played anywhere close to 50 games.

Played there for Sweden a good few times. And I haven't particularly rated too many of our right-backs over the past 25 or so years.

As for Nillis I was using the criteria of the best players who have played for us not those that have played the best for us. Didn't read the opening post to see whether my criteria fits.

If you're going by that Criteria, where's Ginola and Schmeichel?

Hang on hang on hang on

Anyone not picking yorke, or benteke, or southgate seriously needs putting in the loony bin

Bosnich - Delaney McGrath Barrett Staunton - Merson Milner Barry young - yorke - benteke

God I'd love to see yorke and benteke upfront together. They'd be incredible.

No, definitely not

Centre back for what - four consecutive years or more? During which time we always had one of the best defences in the league

I loved Martin Laursen for example but we never actually had that great a defence with him. Lionheart. But positionally not great.

Benteke's still got a way to go until he gets into my team.  Carew would be first choice, with Saunders on the bench.
Another 20 goals in a season for Benteke then I'd have a problem on my hands.

It is the best of the Prem era. Sid only played in 11 league games. I'd guess that he'd make it into most people's all time 11.
