Title: Surely we both can't be this bad next season?
Post by: Liam_Baggies on May 11, 2014, 09:13:19 PM
Thank god this season is over for both of us.

Disappointment after disappointment and another disappointment.

Both of us finishing below Stoke City? God struth.

Anyway, have a wonderful summer and I'll look forward to engaging with you all next season (unless there's a reason for me to post in our thread).

Take care all of you.

Your loving Tesco,

Liam.

Hi.

Because he wasn't very good - he didn't want to stay and they offered us £6million. Daylight robbery.

It was truly awful Liam. To be honest I'm surprised that we got as many points as we did. The last 2 months and the amount of goals we have let in fogs your memory and clouds anything good that happened. If we aint careful Wolves will pass us by at the end of next season and my brother will never let me forget it.

1,000,000% yes.

See my posts in the Other Football Section.

Sunnier days will return for us both - I hope.

West Midlands Football needs us two at the top of the tree - not Stafford and the Noses.

Living in the South helps I think but I'd love all the West Midland teams in the top division....as long as we could always win though!

I mentioned this on twitter and on here earlier, but this season, Villa, Blues and Albion have managed - between them - 12 home league wins in 61 matches this season.

If there's a city which deserves more from its clubs, it is this one.

The trouble is most Villa fans perspective is skewed on Long as he seemed to morph into a world beater against us.

He's certainly not worth 6m, either. Good bit of business, that.

That was the overall figure but I think it was mainly clauses based.

I think the overall figure was around £4.5million - I think local media reported we may have made a profit on him.

It was about £5m they paid. They've never paid £7m for a player.

Wasn't he in his last few months as well? Although £6 mil has been bandied about, officially it was undisclosed and I would be surprised if they bid more then they did in the summer for someone going into his last 6 months unless Bruce was truly panicking.

It's worth remembering that the £3.5m they spent on Earnshaw in 2004 is still their 5th highest transfer. Anichebe and Sessegnon are the only players they've, officially, spent more than £5m on.

There has been a shambles of a season for the three clubs with a Birmingham post code. It would nice to be able to trot out the comforting cliche of "it can only get better" but we are football fans and we know that's a load of bollocks.

I would love to be able to switch off from it all and think about cricket for a couple of months but there are so many loose ends it's bound to drag on for weeks.

For all the criticism of Peace, and there is lots of valid ones, he does seem to be able to get players in cheap and sell them high.

Shane Long is still better than what they have. Vydra, Anchiebe, Sess and Berahino, just not enough goals there and they've lost their defensive solidity under Clarke.

The money they got for Kamara was way ott. Although looking it up, they've only sold 5 players for £5m or more. Curtis, Kamara, Long, Koumas, Hughes.
Is that right Liam?

Happy?  Surrounded by cockneys, mancs or scousers forever banging on about how great their teams, cities, bands etc are?  Couldn't think of anything worse!!

What a horrible anus of a season.

The Baggies should never have sacked Steve Clarke. We should have sacked Lambert. Birmingham are in a terrible mess. No manager stands a chance there until someone gets control of the club out of Yeung's tainted palms.

I think both can be as bad.

The Baggies have slid since they knew the Director bloke (sorry can't remember his name and can't be bothered to google) went to the FA.

Villa are a club in turmoil. There are none that have underpeformed as much over the last 4 years.

I suggest ditching all the football teams and getting into Quidditch. There must be plenty of young & hungry beaters we can sign.

His first goal against us at the Hawthorns was top class. The tosser.

Sorry to say Liam but I can see WBA being one of the three to take the drop next year, whether Villa join them is still to be decided.  Have a good one!

I can see next season being worse than this one for us, you may improve. Mel seems a decent chap, but your chairman is even tighter than Doug Ellis.

Talking to a Baggies fan at work this morning. He has had a season ticket for 25 years but has decided not to renew. Not so much for the results but the way Peace treats the fans, the Astle thing at the weekend being the final straw.

Its no surprise than Mel has gone.  Seemed a decent bloke who might have done a good job given time, but sacking Clarke was very hash and I think the Baggies would have finished higher had he stayed.  The club are a bit of a mess right now.
