What a great game was that second leg. I want that back.

Great night, revenge for a few years earlier.

Was a great night, wasn't it.
I was down at the bottom of the North Stand, behind the goal, because of the Holte being re-built. Couldn't believe it when Rueben Sosa hit the bar. I also remember from that night thinking just how good Bergkamp was. We just couldn't get the ball of him when he had it.
Along with the Tranmere semi-final and the League Cup final a few months before, that constitutes a great period to look back on.

It was funny seeing Villa using Ryanair to fly to Italy for the first leg, which makes sense as we were owned by Ellis :D

Yep, remember being in the upper Trinity with my brother and his mate Nobby (RIP) and going mental when Phil King slotted home the winner.

One of my first great memories supporting Villa. Was just 14 at the time and remember watching it on TV with Mum and the pair of us being totally hooked to the screen. Also remember a friend telling me than we never had a chance of going through even before a ball was kicked. But we were fantastic that night, and the game was one of most dramatic Villa matches I have seen, and the atmosphere really came across on the box. We got the luck we deserved on with the pens too. Great night!

1990 v Inter was good but soured by the second leg in which we were knocked out. This 1994 rematch was far more satisfying. Its easy to say this because he scored the goal but this was Ray Houghton's finest performance in a Villa shirt and certainly Guy Whittingham's too despite the fact he had his penalty saved. Ruben Sosa was a dirty cheating git for Inter, Bergkamp totally anonymous and secret Villa fan Paliugca in goal for them. As someone else said, around this time under BFR it was just great occasion after great occasion. Incredible to think just two months later he was gone.
