I`m not suggesting for one second that people don`t, i probably will renew, but reading the message boards and talking to fans in general, there is a definite shift away from supporters automatically renewing come hell-or-high-water, Now may be the time for the fans to send a clear message to the board that this situation cannot go on, a drop in Season Ticket sales is apart from "doing a Bolton" the only way we can send a message and know it will be heard.
-
I have said on here more than once that i will definetly not re-new for next season, i was there yesterday and it was a performance devoid of any soul and passion and if this lack
of passion and these soulless performances are becoming more and more frequent and for only one man can be held responsible....that man being the manager so yes if this man is still in charge
then i will not re-new. He has to go.....contrary to the managers belief there is no plan in place. He seems to have lost the dressing room if these rumours that are flying around are to be believed
and when that happens surely is position is untenable. I would like to see him resign at the end of the season rather than sack him but if he doesn't well then sack him.
I will then probably re-new!!!
-
I've already renewed. Financially it's easier to do it now as have lots on over the summer. I love going with my dad. We go every week together and have done since 1991.

Good Man (or Lady).
-
I will renew. Always will.
-
Not renewing - the message will only sink in for Lerner if the fans vote with their feet - I love the club more with each passing year (have been going about 52 years now) but I feel I have to make a stance against this owner - New owner and manager and I will call the ticket office.
-
'I dont care about Lambert he dont care about me..
I dont care about Lerner he dont care about me..
all i care about is AVFC..'
I get my season ticket to watch The Villa, im unconcerned about managers and chairmen.
-
No as it stands, that gives me the option to not go next year on a match by match basis if the pain is likely to be as bad as this year. Hats off to you folk who commit absolutely no matter what, I can't do it. I should be used to it after watching them for 50 years but I can't stand the wrecked weekends with me in a dark mood.

I'm a "Maybe" -
If Lambert stays and we stay up then "No" and will attend on a match-by-match basis probably splitting attendance with Stourbridge
If Lambert goes then "Yes" as I will support any new manager - I did it for McLeish I will do it for the next one
If we are relegated then "Yes" and hopefully Lambert will be gone
-
Gone for "maybe" as I would like to , but only if a change at the very top ( Lerner ) is apparent. That may be him selling us , or just having the decency to be honest and talking to us directly informing us what he's doing with our club. I'm not holding my breath.
-
I will renew. That's not really a comment on the football or the management set up as I will renew anyway, good, bad or indifferent.
-
I'm renewing.
-
Anyone know what our current season ticket figures are for this season, given some of our low attendance figures recently 25k ish sounds about right.
Can see that dropping a thousand or two as it presently stands. Fair play to anyone who renews given our wretched home form year after year.
-
Will it be Bournemouth or Anfield?
When I know I'll make a decision.
-
I'll renew. I still love taking my boys down to villa park every couple of weeks even if the football is no where near good enough at the moment.
-
Will it be Bournemouth or Anfield?
When I know I'll make a decision.
Do home season tickets cover away games now?;)
-
The logical thing to do is spend the money on golf club membership, have lessons, get a decent handicap and enjoy the company of my mates in a stress free environment. Logic doesn't come into it though and it's where I see my pals.
It does worry me though that such is the size of the Sky payment now losing a few thousand season ticket holders doesn't equate to the cost of adecent player and probably won't worry tthe club.
-
Since when has playing golf been a "stress free environment" ?
In addition to the frustration of the game itself, the pretentious bollocks that surrounds golf (who can play when, what you can wear on the course, what you can wear in the club etc) used to stress me out more than watching Villa.
-
No chance if Lambert stays. I've barely missed a game since '95 but I don't enjoy it any more, it's just the same shite over and over.
If the club do the right thing I'll be back.
-
After 7 or 8 season tickets in a row, I'm calling it a day.
I'm fed up of turning up to watch shit. Especially when so many are at stupid kick off times.
Next season I can pick my Saturday 3pm games, hopefully cheaper through Viagogo or because nobody wants to go and we need to reduce tickets to try and get a decent crowd in.
And because of this, next season we will be on a par with Bayern Munich.
-
You cleary don't play on the municipal courses in Brum. ;)
Playing a shit shot or round stays with me for twenty minutes. Villa losing stays with me all week.
-

of passion and these soulless performances are becoming more and more frequent and for only one man can be held responsible....that man being the manager so yes if this man is still in charge
then i will not re-new.
Is he the only man responsible though?
This is our fourth year in a row struggling down at the arse end of the table (even if we did scramble up to 9th with two unexpected wins at the back end of the 10/11 season). We had the odd dice with death under Herbert, hell, we even went down once.
But I don't recall an extended sequence as grim as this during the time I have followed the club. Admittedly I wasn't around in the 60's.
-
Already renewed.
Bonus was that the new 'Under 18' category meant that my lads ticket was reduced from £400 to £160 ;D
-
Not going to buy season ticket as it is too much hassle to try to finish work for 2pm every saturday. Plus I need my afternoon nap as I go out dancing late on Friday and Saturday night.
-
We are renewing this week but I suspect thousands won't .
-
Come on, there are other ways to send a message to the board. Besides, as much as I hate Lambert & Lerner, I still love going
-
This is the first season, probably for at least 30 plus years that I haven't seen one live Villa game.
I gave up my season ticket for the 2012-2013 season and just selected which matches to watch, whereas this season I just can't be bothered. I just wish the top 6 sides would just piss off and form their 'Europen Super League', taking Sky with them and let the rest of the teams get back to having a competitive league again.
Well we can always dream!
-
If I don't renew, whether we stay up or get relegated will be irrelevant. It'll be because I'm thoroughly disheartened at the poor quality football I've endured for the last three seasons and have little hope that next season will be any different. I'm not blaming Lambert particularly, like I didn't blame McLeish before him. The buck stops with Lerner. He appointed these managers, and he's dictated the policy of not buying established and proven footballers at the level we desperately require.
-
Come on, there are other ways to send a message to the board. Besides, as much as I hate Lambert & Lerner, I still love going
Yes there are other ways - but Faulkner doesn't respond to critical (non abusive) correspondence- if you try again as I did
you might even get Nicola Keye in person calling your number - I have gone for a hatrick with a hand delivered letter to the
club secretary - as VCTM commented it only hurts when you 'hit them in the pocket' and vote with your feet
I haven't done an 'away' since Fulham and my grandkids' piggybanks are richer for it - whilst even the fortnightly 7mile
trip to B6 has become a 'chore' with a slim chance of the occasional decent performance/result
I don't anticipate we will be in the Championship this August.....but in the event we were and Lerner jumped ship
taking Faulkner Lambert & co with him I wouldn't hesitate to renew and support the club and the new regime, but
it looks like match ticket for me next season, and from experience of this past few months they will be plentiful and cheap
-
Already renewed.
-
I will renew as me and my boy go together and its what memories are made of. Show your dissaproval from the stands not from your armchairs....Lerner and the board can't hear you in the pub or your living rooms and empty seats just mean apathy (look at the current Small Heath example for a definition of apathy). Only we can change it but only from the stands not by our absence.
-
I'm not renewing but that is down to finances. I'll still go as often as I can.
-
'I dont care about Lambert he dont care about me..
I dont care about Lerner he dont care about me..
all i care about is AVFC..'
This should be sung loud and proud next Saturday .
I will renew - I will always renew. It's in my blood and my family's blood - and always will be.
-
Not going to buy season ticket as it is too much hassle to try to finish work for 2pm every saturday. Plus I need my afternoon nap as I go out dancing late on Friday and Saturday night.
Posts like these are why I love H&V. Even in a slough of despond, there is always an irreverent or tangential quote straight outta nowhere to leave you feeling warm and toasty.
P.S. Salsa, do you dance as good as Nick Frost in Cuban Fury?
-
I will probably renew. It is what I do. But only after a prolonged period of agonising and moaning.
As soon as my lad is old enough to spend Saturday's out at sporting events with me though, the season ticket is going.
-
I think I will get in before the end of April this year with the 9 month interest free and use the Villa cash thing for a reduction.
-

same here. UTV
-
I will renew if we are not relegated
but if we are I will still go to Saturday games but don't think I would be able to motivate myself for Doncaster or Brentford on a Wednesday night
does anyone know the cut off date for the 9 months interest free for the Holte lower
-
I was reading the renewal letter and I think its the 30th April for interest free and without an admin charge.
-
22 years & I'm out sorry
-
I've shot my gob off on this and other forums. Not going to renew. Enough's as good as a feast! No chance! Piss-poor entertainment!
But....
Yesterday, my dad said "I've just renewed, have you renewed yet?" and I said "gonna do it tomorrow!". While the old fella can still get up the stairs in the Doug Ellis i'm still going to go with him. As shit as the Villa are I enjoy his company and the matchday experience. I just wish there were more Saturday 3:00 kick-offs.
-
I was reading the renewal letter and I think its the 30th April for interest free and without an admin charge.
so we are being pushed into using the most affordable method of paying for most people where we may still not know what league we will be playing in
all of these renewal dates should be suspended until at least we know who we will be playing against
-

-
Not renewing.
I keep telling myself its down to Finances, but I think if I could see some improvement I would find a way to afford it.
-
i will renew my season ticket...well i have been going to villa since 1967...through the good and bad times...i still see some of the steamers ladds and mates from the hole in the wall pub dale end dateing back to the early 70s... its in the blood..still it breaks my heart the damage lerner faulkner and lambert are doing to our proud club.
-
I will probably renew before the end of April to get the discount, but if we lose the next 2 games before then it will be a difficult decision.
Had a phone call a few weeks ago from ticket office not long long after good results (Chelsea/Norwich). Doubt they will try again this week. If they do I'll ask to speak to Faulkener and put him straight on a few things!
-
I've decided to embrace the Lerner culture.
I will downgrade my ST to the cheapest possible.
I will not attend myself, but send my two whippetts instead. I'm sure they know more about football than Randy's representatives from 'the board'.
The whippetts will easily join in the atmosphere at Villa Park by promptly falling asleep at kick off.
During the match people will be shouting "What a load of shit", however the whippetts will be actually producing the stuff. Obviously, I will provide poobags for the stewards to cleanup (they've told me over the years they have to put up with a load of shit from us supporters).
At the final whistle, the whippets will awake and sprint back to the car (their running speed approx 35mph) So whilst you are booing the team off, the whippetts will be cruising home howling "we go again"
I'm sure Randy will be proud of them.
-
I gave mine up 3 seasons ago, but they still ring me asking if i'll be renewing each summer
They will be getting the same no thank you as always when the inevitable call comes. Well, unless some major changes occur beforehand
-
I will pay match by match ,if we get relegated i am more concerned will will not get out of the championship with these players just not good enough
-
It's a difficult one, I planned to renew. Since that the threat of relegation is looming larger and my mate is adamant he won't renew whilst Lambert's in charge.
If we stay up I'll most likely renew as I can often persuade people to buy a ticket next to me for one-off games.
-
Renewed yesterday .
Nurse !!
-
I have not had a season ticket for years as I have to be at my business most Saturdays , so If I pop to Villa I have to pay extra for staff to cover. Next season was the season I had planned to buy two , one for my 9 year old as well , as I had discussed to get staff to cover me on Saturdays so I was weighing up the extra expense but wanted to spend the Saturday afternoons with my son , like I did from 1973 to 1995 with my dad and grandad , when we were all season ticket holders .
I had planned to do this about three years ago , but with current management as it is , I will put this off . The games I saw this season , I just did not enjoy .
-
Renewed yesterday .
Nurse !!
I renewed last Tuesday.
I must be going down with something as well
Send for Rosie Dixon
-
I haven't had a season card since O'Neils last season. I attended a few games in the Houllier season then came the astonishing McLeish appointment and thankfully i made the right call not to attend at all. No reflection on others but i do feel i have avoided being ripped off by what's been served up in the last 3 seasons.
-
There is no nee to renew when you can buy a ticket for £10 on viagogo
For me the time is one of the big factors. The homes games are an all day affair. The cost of fuel alone is well above the ticket price, then add in everything else in and it becomes an expensive day out. If you then add in the Sky people who decide what is payed when it means more games missed. Finally add in the football enjoyment and there you have enough reasons not to renew!
I will always be a Villa fan and will attend as many games as I can but I will not make the time investment in this club any longer! They care nothing about me or any other fans. But deep down the blame should lie with the filth of Sky!
-
I won't be renewing unless there's big changes with ownership/manager and finances in the summer.
These last 4 years have been painful and we seem to be getting worse with every week that goes by. I never believed in the "young and hungry" lies and I knew from day one it was all about cost cutting and lowering fans expectations. The only way I can register my protest to the club is to not renew my season ticket and that's what I'm going to do if Lerner is still here stinking the place out.
-
Just received a text.
"Season Tickets 14/15: pay in full by 30 April for 10% Villa Cash bonus (issued 1st August 2014,T+Cs apply.) Call 0800 612 0970 for more. Txt stop to 60070."
Maybe I sound a bit Meldrew but I am sick to death of all these nuisance scammer companies trying to contact me and rip me off. I mean, does anybody ever respond to these charlatans ? I suppose some must fall for it or they wouldn't keep doing it.
Its about time the phone companies and the government did something to stop them making peoples lives a misery. But I suppose if the numbers they are using are closed off they just set up other numbers as they have the attitude of WE GO AGAIN !
-
I've already said this but I think they made a mistake increasing the price. Mine has gone up £20 which does only work out at an extra quid a game but bearing in mind how many games we've lost at home, they should be offering incentives to renew not trying to put people off. A price freeze would have been the sensible option.
-
I will renew mainly because I enjoy spending the time with my son and he loves going. He is the eternal optimist when it comes to Villa.
-
I already have - last Friday.
I know times are hard at the club, but did they have to put the transaction through twice ?
Maybe they thought I wouldn't notice.
-
I didn't renew after the McLeish season.
For a number of reasons I missed loads of matches that season. When we reached the end of the season, I realised I wasn't bothered about having missed so many matches because they were invariably crap. So, I thought I'd give it a miss for the next season (ie the Lambert first one) and see how it went.
Once again, I realised that I'd avoided shelling out 600 quid for the "privelege" of a handful of watchable efforts all season, so didn't regret it.
This season, there's no way I could have afforded it either in terms of time or cash, so it wasn't even an option.
I do think, though, that once you stop treating it as something you'll do regardless and opt not to renew, returning to being a ST holder becomes something you find you'd really, really, really have to want to do - it's a big cash commitment all round (ticket, travel, all the other stuff) and, though I can't speak for anyone else, but in hard times it'd take a return of ambition for me to even think about doing it again.
The almost certain future of another season bobbing around pointlessly at the bottom because the chairman isn't interested any more makes me wonder how they expect anyone else to remain interested.
I have nothing but respect for those who have continued with a ST through this season. I have truly immense respect for those who have also gone to the away matches. You must be nuts ;-)
If you think about it, our ST holders are in the odd position of shelling out a large amount of money in advance for something which, invariably, they can't wait to see end for the last few months.
-
Id love to, but family commitments and finance mean I cant. Im a Villa supporter, not a RL, Lambert or whoever owns or manages the club. I love going to Villa Park. I love watching football and I love most of all my team turning out and playing. Granted it is a labour of love on many occasions, but i didnt fall in love with football as a glory hunter/plastic fan. If I had the money and the time I would be going
-

We've been to 12 away games this season (it'll be 13 after Spurs, unlucky for some eh?) and to be honest the 90 minutes on the pitch has often ruined what is normally a cracking day. We go away with a supporters club and they're a cracking bunch and they make the day more bearable but you're right, the away support is phenomenal. The fact that Swansea, Palace and Spurs sold out so far in advance says it all.
-
I renewed yesterday.
-
Due to do mine today - feel as though I am endorsing the current regime however.
-
The only way I'll renew is if there's a complete clean sweep of the owner and manager in the summer. If things stay the same they can kiss goodbye to my ST. I'm not putting up with this shit anymore, and not renewing is the only real protest I can do.
-
i will wait to see what Lerner says at the end of the season before I decide!
-
I was hovering about renewing as the prospect of putting up with the same shit for yet another season isn't very attractive, and going down the Villa has been a bit of a chore lately. BUT I think whatever happens there will be big changes in the summer. If we survive, Lerner looks like selling up and we'll get a new manager; if we go down, selling may be a trickier option for Lerner but Lambert would have to walk. I'm going to renew today to get the 10% cash back deal - but if I'm honest I'm renewing because supporting the Villa is just what I do, and I can't imagine sitting at home when there's a game on at Villa Park.

renewed last Friday......UTV
-
I am certainly not renewing by the deadline for tomorrow but not sure how things will pan out in the summer. Let's see what league we are in and what is going to change would be the sensible thing I suppose.
I think the first thing I ever wrote for H&V was in August 2009 about my agonising over renewing and it is no different now.
Let's put it this way, going to games at the moment leaves me cold in the same way that it did in TSM's season. Where it is a real chore to leave the house and know it is just to put up with another ration of the inevitable shit.
Where I have to be half cut just to contemplate making my way through the turnstiles to endure another game.
Where it ruins countless chances to catch up with people I wouldn't otherwise see as I am so miserable after the match that I make for terrible company and so nervous before that being rational is very difficult.
And I am paying a fair few quid for the privilege of this. I am sure the wife could come up with 1001 ways we could better spend the money. If all I want to do is catch up with my mates then it would be much cheaper to just pop to the pub surely?
But there is still that pull. The fact that it can be a really enjoyable day even if the football is pap. The fact that I know plety of people who I only see at football from all over the country and would therefore rarely get chance to meet up with without it.
And what would would I do with my time instead? Spending more time with my lad sounds great, particualrly with him having school on the horizon and he won't stay wanting to spend time with me for too much longer. But it wouldn't feel right being at a Wacky Warehouse when the Villa are at home and I would inevitably spend all afternoon checking my phone for the score.
What worries most is actually doing it and not renewing. Because I fear that the day I break the cycle I won't ever come back. That the baton won't get passed on down the family.
It is the same bloody quandry every summer and the worse we are, the more SKY's despicable influence sucks every last ounce of enjoyment and competition out of it, the more expensive it gets with no hope of ever being more than an also ran, then the more I am pushed towards deffing it off and making a clean break. Finding a hobby that is actually enjoyable.
And I am not the only one. When you have people like Frank having a long hard think about the time and money they invest in Villa then you know we have serious problems.
Sod it. Let's get over the safety line and I can worry about it in a few weeks time.

Never respond to these type of texts by doing that, the way the system operates has now been alerted that yours is a "Live" number and you may get bombarded with loads from all sorts of businesses, just delete them mate - it`s safer.

Super post CheltV.
The feelings of most fans summed up there.
-
will renew
-
It wouldn't surprise me if the 10% cash back deal deadline is extended for another week or so. I know you'll have fans who will renew whatever division we're in but to ask people to stump up cash in full when they have no idea if we'll be playing Chelsea or Bournemouth somehow seems wrong.

Renewed
-
I'll renew if we stay up but not if we're relegated.
-
Been thinking about this today and come to the conclusion I'd be more inclined to renew in the Championship under a new owner than if we stay up under Lerner and are promised more of the same.
-
Renewed two STs today.

Problem is, if we get relegated, there probably wont be a new owner. That doesnt bare thinking about

In a weird way I've started thinking like that. I'm not sure I can face another season getting stuffed at home every fortnight but a season where we actually win a few games against different teams might actually make me more inclined to renew.

Also some of those young players will really be able to shine in the Championship which will boost their confidence and make them better should upon our return to the top flight (not that I am assuming that of course!).
-
If you think some of those young players will shine in the championship then you have more faith than me. This squad, minus the few good players who'd most definable be sold, would be mid table at best in the Championship.

I don't know about mid table, but I do know that when Newcastle went down, they got shot of the real expensive dross they had but kept all the players they wanted to keep a hold of, and came straight back up.
We, on the other hand, would lose most of our decent players (in that it is possible to use the word "most" in any meaningful way when you are talking about a total sample of 4) and be lumbered with exactly the same dross which has not been up to it in this league and doesn't look capable of fighting its way out of a paper bag, let alone a horrible division like that.
-
Delph for one already has Championship experience and has just had the best season of his life for Villa anyway.
The likes of Clark,Westwood, and Lowton (should he get back in the team) would all be good championship players IMO.
And as much as we don't want him right now, Holt should score us around 10 or 12 goals. Maybe that's why we got him...

Let's shelve the Championship chat folks. Just imagining midweek games in deepest winter against the likes of Ipswich, Middlesborough and Huddersfield is truly depressing.

Let's shelve the Championship chat folks. Just imagining midweek games in deepest winter against the likes of Ipswich, Middlesborough and Huddersfield is truly depressing.
Seconded - starting to sound like that Bluenose on the other thread "it will be great fun going to all those new grounds"

Renewed just now.
I enquired as to whether the away scheme would go up in price given the extra games if we're relegated!
-
I've just renewed too. What really sticks in my craw is this booking fee. £2.00, for what? It's bollocks, total bollocks, something I informed the sales guy to pass on to the powers that be.
-
Renewed this morning .Can cancel 24 hours before season starts .I asked if i would get a refund if we were relegated .He said the season tickets would be the same no matter what division we were in .I asked if if he would like to place a bet on that.He declined

Cant decide whether to renew ......
Very tempted to buy season ticket at Halesowen Town (just promoted) and then pick and choose games at VP
Can also referee more on Saturdays
Have felt like not renewing at this point for last few seasons but this year will ponder ....
-
Just bought my season ticket. Its been rubbish for so long and renewing felt like buying a big slice of turd pie but I cannot imagine not being at Villa Park when we are playing so I might as well get the 10% offer.

I tried to renew on line this morning - got on to my account but could not find link to renew my ticket. Then I tried phoning and was in a queue for ages before I gave up.
Went down to VP this afternoon, had to queue and then got charged the £2.
Are they having a collection for staff leaving at end of season? ;)

I think charging a booking fee on a season ticket is a bit wrong really.
-
Renewed today. After all my talk. Ah well.

They don't if you pay cash - they tried that scam at the start of the season and after a few of us on here kicked off they backtracked and cash sales are booking fee free.

I know but paying that much money up front and then them saying 'plus a £2 booking fee' just seems a bit cheeky. I know it's not a booking fee as such but, well you know.

To be honest I still think they're taking the piss with the regulations. The regulations came in to stop businesses overcharging on 'transaction fees'. The idea was that the whole £2-for-paying-by-card scam would be significantly reduced as the charge should be limited to the actual cost of processing the payment. The Villa tried to get around this by adding £2 to all forms of payment but then went back to charging £2 for card payments. I can't believe for one minute it costs that much to process a card payment.

I gave in today. Must need my head examining.

I logged on earlier as I was wavering. It took a while. By the time it took me to access my account and realise I could only renew my season ticket and not purchase one in the same block for my Grandson aswell (with a view to relocating together at a later date), so many negative thoughts about this season re-entered my stream of consciousness that I changed my mind completely about even just renewing mine.
-
I resisted as a minor protest
-
I haven't yet and I don't think I will.

Chickenfeed!, just try booking a holiday over the phone with a credit card!! - they take the piss, £40 on a £2k holiday and charge a kings ransom for the phone call into the bargain. Daylight robbery.
