Robinson to come on in the second half and show what he is capable of for the future. When is KEA back?

It's so obviously a nailed on home win that we'll probably win this one. 1-0 Gabby.
-
I think we'll get a shock win at Palace. 1-2 (Penalty and own goal)
Anybody know who will take the penalty?

Barry.

Bacuna I think. Anyway... 1-1 Gabby scoring
-
We should start with a 1-0 lead to compensate for the goal Dalian scored against them that was never given despite the ball being light years over the line.
-
My money will be on a home win.

Thanks for bringing back the orange dot Lee and with its return I predict a 2-1 Villa win.
-
Home win. Probably quite comfortable too. Pulis has them well organised and looking solid.
-
How has it come to this when I'd take a draw against Palace?
By Saturday it's likely our 4 matches against Palace and Fulham would have yielded 0 points.
-
Palace 1-0 Villa
-
No shock result for me I'm afraid. Comfortable Palace win by three clear goals.
-
We go again - 2-0 loss

Kick off time is incorrect.
2-3 Villa Gabby Hat-trick.
-
No it isn't.
-
Is it not 3:07pm?
-
Ah. Are you referring to the Hillsborough tribute?
-
Many apologies. You are correct.
-
I was referring to the actual kick off time.
-
It is 3.07pm, although if we kick off at 3pm we might get something.
-
If these tramps do the double over us as well it's going to be flipping mental on here. Come on, Villa, turn it around.
-
We pick ourselves up 3-1. Villa to go 1-0 up through Vlaar.
-
Routine 3-0 home win
Similar to 1986 when we lost 3-0 at this ground at a similar time to Charlton
-
3-1 to Palace
Vince Hilaire
Clive Allen x 2
John Gidman
-
Praying we get a few players back, think gabbys pace might be where we can hurt them. Palace 1-2 villa
-
2-1 to Palace.
-
I am shi**ing bricks over what was a reasonable run-in of games turning into us sinking into the shitty mire against all the odds. We will help provide plucky little Palace with a super little story for the media tossers.
Like we always seem to do.
Depressed Villain.
UTV! :-)
-
I am not confident. Lets hope we are all celebrating a win after the game though.
-
Palace was the nearest ground to where I lived through the 90s and I went to most Villa games there. We always looked off form in SE London & the scorelines prove it. Draws and defeats with no wins. Our naive players against a Pulis team suggests no better.
-
Its not the best place to go when your not in good form. I've only been once and we missed the first 15 minutes of the game cus we couldn't find the damn place!
My heart says we can nick a win, but the head says Palace will thump us.
-
They'll win easily. Two or three nil.
Taxi for Lambert.
-
They'll win easily. Two or three nil.
Taxi for Lambert.
Thank the Lord for that.
Sunderland will win. Spurs are a busted flush, the manager knows he's on his bike and so will half of the squad.
-
Can't see us having the mental toughness required for this game, Palace to win quite comfortably. Its always good to show compassion to teams in trouble (winky thingy)!
-

Ok, ok...well let's hope I'm that wrong again on Saturday!

If we win you can call me keeprighton. And I mean it!
-
If we get a few players back think we can steal this...but I'd take a draw at this point.
-
Gone for a villa win. Purely based on our inconsistency. Win a few, lose a few, win a few again. Plus it seems most people so far on the poll expect us to lose. So we'll probably win. 2-1 to Villa.
-
2-0 Palace, booo
-
1-0 defeat. Cameron Jerome not scored in a while has he?
We're usually pretty rubbish against Pulis teams and managers of that ilk who realise all they have to do is defend deep and launch a few high balls at our backline.
Think we'll be reasonably comfortable but will concede from a late set piece.
When was the last time we actually beat Palace at Selhurst? We didn't even beat them in the cup a few years back under MON.
-
0-3
Holt, Westwood, Vlaar
-
We pretty much never win at Selhurst, no matter how shit Palace/Charlton/Wimbledon were and how good we were.
So we'll draw. 10-10 and we go again.
-
Palace: Many
Villa: Between Zero and Few
I'm trying out being extra-negative so if we manage a draw I'll be extra-specially happy.
I also don't think Bono will be involved in any horrific accidents this week.
-
Puncheon always seems to have a cracker against us I can see him scoring.
Another defeat is inevitable i'm afraid, it will match the 4 consecutive losses in December to exactly the same teams.
If it happened before it will happen again. Also predicting us conceding a goal around 82-92 minute mark.
-
It would be just like the Villa under Paul Lambert to go and win this one. I'm going to go for a 2-1 win for the Villa with Gabby and Delph getting the goals (assuming both will be playing!!).
-
0-1 Holt
You heard hear it first.

Tonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnev

I wonder if this is the first came that Palace have been the favourites in? That may well be a new feeling for them and puts an extra onus on Pullis.
Nothing to fear here, apart from the trip itself and being eaten by a dragon or some other mythical beast.
-
Another "oh dear" moment I think.
-
1-0 half time.
1-4 full time.
Marvellous win.
-
I'm confident we can win this one
-
I have gone for the draw. 1-1.
-
never seem to win there, so Palace 2 nil win I'm afraid...:(
-
This game not only requires the orange dot, Mr Shin needs to have the fish pie at the ready
-
I loathe their wanky little ultras section which drones on with a fucking drum and sings that mind-numbing "we'retheredandbluearmy" endlessly. I cannot stand that song or any club so Mickey Mouse that it has goal music. I hope we bury them.

do they really have goal music ? ffs that is shite.
-
A depressing 2-0 loss
-
Glad all-over... clap, clap, clap!
Glad all-over... clap, clap, clap!
We won't be hearing any of that on Saturday mind.

The orange dot does it for me!

Do we know who we'll be able to get back fit for Saturday?
-
Do we know who we'll be able to get back fit for Saturday?
Gabby, Delph & KEA are all expected to be back at the weekend, so I'm going for a Villa 2-1 win. Time for Gabby to play his usual get Villa out of jail card and get the winner.

Palace in great form? Check
Villa in bad form? Check

Absolute nailed on away victory, 0-4, Tonev all 4.

Add to that:
Our terrible record at selhurst park?
Our terrible record against Stoke when Pulis was in charge?
Omens so bad we are bound to win. 1-2 for me
-
I will say a shock Villa win 3-1
why am I saying shock against bloody Crystal Palace
oh dear ;(

All four being tap ins from less than a yard out

We never win away against Palace.
-
We never win away against Palace.
Sign Dalian back up for one game. The one time I have seen us win at that place against Palace, Charlton or Wimbledon. I know it is a different club but make sure that bloke brings his lucky umbrella as well.
-
2-0
-
We go again - 2-0 loss
Are you Lee Clark? I swear he says that after every Small Heath loss (all their home games).
-
Routine 3-0 home win
Similar to 1986 when we lost 3-0 at this ground at a similar time to Charlton
If it makes you feel any better, I've seen us lose to Charlton 3-0 at the Valley :-)
-
1-1 Draw.
Vlaar to get our goal.
-
I've never seen us lose there. Then again I've never been there and got inside the ground. 0-0 to us!

Sprung from cages out on highway 9,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected and steppin out over the line
Baby this town rips the bones from your back

Life's a drive through a dust bowl,
What's it do, do to a young soul?
We are deeply concerned
Someone stops for directions,
Something responds deep in our engines
We have all been burned
Will heaven wait, all heavenly, over the next horizon?

You're Nathan Baker
Suicidal Blonde.
2-2

I'm going to this with a Palace fan, in the Palace end. Means if we score I have to keep quiet, I managed this three times at the Emirates in August. Given that result and the next unlucky loss at Stanford Bridge (thankfully in the Villa end) I cannot believe how far we've fallen.
I've gone for a Palace win and utter depression. Please, please prove me wrong Villa.
-

My new favorite post ever.
Though I think it's less of a journey through those doors of perception to think we'll lose the game itself.
The end.
-
Ive gone for a villa win , as im more one eyed than a bbc pundit, where manure are concerned. fucked if I know how where going to get it though. my heart is broken
-
This is a game crying out for a Matt Lowton special. It was turning point for us last season, we could do with something like that again. Failing that, a concrete Ron screamer wouldn't go amiss.
-
I'm hoping for a Tonev thunderbolt. If he aims it at the corner flag he might be successful.
-
I think as 'laymen' we have to understand that Lambert and his backroom team of master tacticians will have studiously assessed every facet of this woeful Palace side and set us up with Napoleonesque precision in order to extract the result we so richly deserve. 2-0.
-
I have been reading a Palace forum and found this comment, whether fact or myth, pretty nice to read. There are a few older heads talking about the history of Villa, with one young moron saying he hopes we do a Coventry. This is the reply:
"Did you know that Villa were instrumental in the birth of our club. Way back when Britain was great, the midlands was leading the world in industry, and Villa were a rich club run by powerful money men who also ran the mills and factories. They also financed the original Crystal Palace exhibition, the biggest glass structure ever.
They wanted to keep all the glass workers sweet so they helped them start a football team and donated one of the old villa kits. Hence the Glaziers.... hence the claret and blue."

Nice story. Total bollocks, but nice.

You would know this Dave and Ive probably asked you this before
but my father in law Palace season ticket holder , always goes on about Villa lending Palace their kit or colours back in the old days to help them out , so he has a soft spot for Villa.
I never knew what the actual story was ?
p.s never saw that last post . weird ;)

As Abraham Lincoln once said "It's on the internet so it must be true"

Chairman J. H. Cozens, and his predecessor Henry Gillman, consulted Aston Villa Football Club and, in particular. William McGregor who had been the founding father of the Football League. Mr McGregor fully endorsed the idea, stating in December 1904: "believe a really good team at The Crystal Palace would be a tremendous draw."
Aston Villa also offered the services of one of their assistant secretaries, Edmund Goodman, for the task of setting up this new club. Following his arrival in south London, Goodman was soon busy, first of all approaching Sydney Bourne, whom he noted was a great supporter of the Cup Finals, to be a director and, at the same time, finding five more like minded gentlemen. At the club's first meeting Bourne was elected chairman and the position of secretary was offered to Goodman.
-
Genuinely can't see a Villa win here, even though I have seen a lot of Palace this season and I know for a fact they are bloody awful. Also I think we're all trying the bluff of saying Villa are crap, Palace are on a roll etc... but then jinxing it and saying so therefore shock Villa win. You're not allowed to say that bit! Now we're all thinking a shock Villa win which means double shock Palace win and we all leave Selhurst Park in a huff while they sing their stupid kids songs. Still, I'm looking forward to another away day as I love you lot who go to the away games with me. Really hope the proper Villa turn up and it's an alright game at least, sitting in the Holte End on Saturday was an experience I'm not sure I want to go through again.

Beautiful. You know there was a Chinese firm apparently in negotiations with the Mayor of London's office to rebuild the Crystal Palace pane by pane. I've always hoped someone would do that.

I thought they should have done that rather than the Dome.

So we did help establish crystal palace . Least they could do is donate 3 points to us then. Hopefully Tony Pullis and Barry Bannan have read the script.
-
3-0 palace.
already looking forward to going out for dinner afterwards.
-

Pullis has a 40% win rate at Palace , it was 17% , I must admit , he has done a brilliant job for them.
I remember that Villa game when he turned up at HT and then fooked us off .
-
I don't have a good feeling about this one. Palace are on a roll and we are on the back foot after a few poor results post Chelsea. 2-0 to Palace.
-
We are going to win. All because Legion has started the thread with the Dot, simples.
-
I can't see us getting a win 2-0 to Palace.
-
I can't see us getting a win 2-0 to Palace.
First time for everything, but I don't agree with Darren.
-
Palace 1-0 Villa.
Jerome.
-
it's one of those games where well will either lose convincingly or we will have a pull out a great win from nowhere. Truth is nobody know what Aston Villa will show up, but as with any club in the PL, if we give Palace the ball they have enough about them to beat us. That is my fear.
-

We don't need the ball to win! Lambo says...
-
Palace 1 Villa 3
Because that's just the sort of season we're having.
-
This seems such an obvious game to lose, the way our season is going, this is a game I think we will win. With Gabby-Delph-Almadi returning and Holt having a good performance and scoring against Fulham. 0-2 Holt-Gabby ...
-
Away win. The Zen of Swain strikes again.

Bollocks. I forget he played for them. Probably nailed on to score now, courtesy of a Bannan assist.

I bet you say that to all the girls.

KEA, Delph and Gabby expected to be fit which improves things.
-
Losing to the likes of CP is something beyond consideration. But I've said similar many times before! C'mon Villa!

KEA, Delph and Gabby expected to be fit which improves things.
Good news. In particular KEA's pressing has been missed.

Yes it has.

I fancy a draw or a win. We might also lose. I am confident that one of these will bring right. Actually, predicting Villa scores is tougher than winning the lottery these days.
-
I think I'm just gonna hide under the bed and pray for 90 minutes on Saturday.

I've got friends over this weekend so chances of me watching are slim. I think I'll just avoid it altogether and pop on to the post match thread hoping the first post is anything positive and possibly includes "job done" or "well deserved win" in the opening sentence.

Same. I dont have it in me for another heartbreak. I have a lot of respect for the fans who are making the trip or watching it live though. Hope you are rewarded.

Yes, very much so well said. It's a significant sacrifice following the club so those boys and girls deserve a good weekend.
-
Unfortunately I think our best chance is to be complicit with palace in spoiling this game and trying to get a 0-0 or 1-0. I wonder if he'll go to a 532. Our defence has been so bad recently he might opt for strength in numbers
-
I think I'm just gonna hide under the bed and pray for 90 minutes on Saturday.
Just remember to start praying at 3:07 or Palace will get an 83rd minute winner.
-
I am going to the game and so am hoping for a win more than ever. However, I'd be lying if I didn't admit to the possibility of a real tonking. They are bang on form at the moment and we are exactly the opposite. It isn't difficult, though very painful, to imagine a 3-0 scoreline in their favour
-
I've been giving the team some thought and here's how i'd go.
Guzan
Lowton Vlaar Baker Bertrand
KEA Westwood Delph
Albrighton Holt Gabby
Subs: Steer Weimann Robinson Bacuna Clark Tonev Luna
-
I would be tempted to bring in Bacuna for Albrighton, but largely agree with your selection.
-

You have a point actually. It would also mean a little bit more protection in midfield and a free kick taker on the pitch.

I think Bacuna would be more suited to playing at the tip of a diamond too, on the chance that we change shape during the game.
-
I've been giving the team some thought and here's how i'd go.
Guzan
Lowton Vlaar Baker Bertrand
KEA Westwood Delph
Albrighton Holt Gabby
Subs: Steer Weimann Robinson Bacuna Clark Tonev Luna
The same team for me Clampy. Think Weimann needs a rest and Holt's extra height will be useful against a physical team like Palace. Would possibly have Bennett ahead of Bertrand though.

I would be tempted to have Bacuna in place of Gabby. Albrighton deserves to start and hopefully Weimann and Gabby could be dangerous impact subs as sticking with them week in week out isn't proving a massive success.
-
I just had a sneaky look on their pre-match thread, not many over there are predicting an away win put it that way. Had a few chuckles at the 4-0's and Mighty Palace 5 - 0 predictions though.
Guzan
Lowton Vlaar Clark Bertrand
KEA Westwood Delph
Bacuna Tonev Gabby
Tonev is the only player i see running at players, I like this.

According to my scientifically accurate simulator (Or Fifa 14 to the layperson), the score will be 1-0 Palace. Jerome latching onto a Clark error to put the ball in the net. We'll huff and puff and create a few half chances but won't be able to break through.

Tonev scores a lot of goals on Fifa 14. Perhaps we should play him as a lone striker tomorrow.

Shit. I should be playing Tonev a bit more then I guess! ha ha.
I would actually play him tomorrow. I'd be hitting Palace with pace. Gabby, Tonev and Alby as a front 3 could work well. I think Holt is better as an impact player, and I'm not sure it's the game for him. Palace will be well set up to deal with a Holt at the back. They will be more susceptible to pace.
Tonev is getting closer though. He was a whisker wide against Utd. He had a good shot on target against Fulham. I think he's due a top corner special against Palace.
-
Guzan
Lowton Vlaar Clark Bertrand
KEA Westwood Delph
Albrighton Wiemann Gabby
Need to keep the ball on the floor and run at them. I'd also play Andi through the middle - see how it works. Gabby and Marc to hug the touchlines to give us proper width.
-
81 go for a Palace win. How depressing is this?
-
Actually I'd change my vote if I could (not that it matters much on a pre-match thread). I think this will be a draw, low-scoring but not goalless.
-
Villa have not beaten Palace away since 1980. If Lambert's Inconsistents can end that run at Pulis's Competents, I will be amazed.

Under Holloway they were heading for relegation with a possible record for least points and now it looks like they will stay up with games to spare so I can understand them getting a bit carried away. Still hope they are very wrong though.

I don't think winning at Palace would be particularly amazing feat to be honest.

Mind you, 34 years suggest it'd be an achievement of some type
*wink*

To be fair, this will only be the second time in 20 years we have played them in the league at Sellhurst Park.
-
Greetings from Croydon, in the south part of that there London.
What a lovely place
-
Didn't we win there in the FA Cup a few years ago? Petrov winner from a corner, when some moron chucked a banana at Ashley Young.

It was an equaliser wasn't it?
-
Yeah 2-2. Am rise scored a screamer and Stan equalised.
-
Please, Villa. Just fucking win somehow. Gradually forgetting what it feels like! Having said that I have low expectations for this one. I'll joyfully take a draw but sort of expect a loss. Sad times in the history of this club.
-
Can not see anything but a defeat sad to say. I just think Palace will be more up for it ,like Fulham were last week. 1-0 to Palace with Jerome odds on to score
-
I've had a new sense of optimism wash over me...I think there's a win there for us and we will do it. 2-1 is my new feeling
-
still think we will win
dont know why , fish gut feeling .

Thornton Heath is where it's at Sox, it's the Bel Air of Croydon, tree lined Avenues, gated communities, boutique shops & small independent coffee shops.
-
It would be so nice one day going into a weekend really and truly believing we are going to win a game. Every weekend it seems we are bricking it whether we are playing Chelsea or Cardiff or anyone in between. It makes you hate football.
-
We'll win 1-0 I tell ya, Holt to score.

15/8 against.

How the fuck anyone could have grant holte in the first eleven is beyond me! Are u all on the Lambert juice?? The one good going thing about him being in the team is u forget how bad the rest of the team is! 3-0 palace.
-

I am going to go out a limb and put forward the idea that this is based on how he played in our most recent game and scored a goal, but I could be wrong.
-
Please win this villa
-
I don't think Pulis will need to do too much to outwit Lambert.
2-0 Palace.
-
Two teams with very little quality.
0-0 written all over it for me.
-

Who do you suggest playing up front then
-
If have holt in the side on the basis he was one of our best players and scored v Fulham and that we don't have benteke or kozak fit. It seems a fairly logical choice to me!
We really need to avoid defeat here as I'm almost certain Southampton will beat us next time around.
-
ADO - another distressing outing.

I'd have said the same before the Fulham game but Holt then played very well and was the best Villa player by a wide margin.
Given the lack of other options Holt did more than enough to earn another start
-
I'd play Holt simply based on the last game too.
He led the line like he'd been leading it for us for years. Limited he may be, but I was impressed - he was also one of the few who looked like he actually cared last week.

There is an alternative ............................
Jordan Bowery !!!!!
Grant Holt doesn't look that bad a choice!
-
I have a feeling they will be too competitive and strong for us today. I'd have no problems at all playong Holt from the start.

Yes...if he can play like last week defo
-
Villa to win 3-2.
-

2-0 Palace.
Yes - Lambert has a habit of being outhought by competent, unspectacular established British managers - Moyes, Pullis, Hughes, Allardyce
-
Palace strong favourites, 3 straight defeats, people predicting we may not pick up another point this season, this is exactly the type of game we will win, 2-1 Villa
-
I'd drop Andi and give Bacuna a shot up front - sure he's got a few free kick goals but he seems able to beat a man and finish. Could be a striker in there.
-
I think Bacuna up in the front 3 would work ok. Holt deserves to play and kea and delph are welcomed back with glee. My concern is puncheon and bolasie out wide killing us. I would be tempted to play 4 4 1 1 to combat them.

Wouldn't be such a bad idea. Westwood and Delph in the centre with KEA further forward, the Gabster and Bacuna wide of Holt, 4-4-1-1 without the ball and 4-2-3-1 with.
-
First time I have not been to Palace to see the Villa. Dreading it yet another defeat, I'd take a point now.
-
We WILL lose today. Gutted.
-
We MIGHT lose today. Nervous.

If someone offered me a point they'd end up missing an arm, because I'd snatch it off.

Haha fair enough. I guarantee you'll be more nervous after the inevitably shite line up is announced.
-

After some consideration I have come to the sad conclusion that we are going to lose either 2-0 or 2-1.
and Grant Holt will be sent off.
