12 years ago! Great strike from Hitzlsperger. Vassell was a decent striker around then too.
The league cup game from a year later, arguably the match that set us off on our decent middle to end of season run. Angel's goal was brilliant.

Where did that time go, thanks for posting.

And this deserves a watch too

Very nice!

I cant post any more, its too depressing. who'd have thought we'd look back longingly at the O'Leary days.
-
Love the biased commentary on the Chelsea one. That really was the turning point that season. We barely lost after that.

Exciting and depressing in equal measure
Exciting because I was there and the bruises suffered afterward were worth a great away victory over the scum. Depressing when comparing the team to the one we have today. Where did it all go wrong?

I used to love watching Lee Hendrie celebrating a Villa goal, regardless of peoples opinion of the player few could deny his passion and commitment to the cause.

Look at Mellberg, Johnsen, Laursen, Delaney, Bouma, Samuel, Barry, Hendrie, Hitz, Davis, Milner, Angel, Baros, Vassell, Crouch and Solano. Pretty much the average of O'Leary squad over his three years.
Look at all the money we have squandered to have a squad that is worse than that.
-
It obviously went wrong for O'Leary and he was found out as a manager.
But for about 12 months under him we played some really attractive football. I don't think we passed it as well under MON, and given the money invested that was criminal.
I just watched the Everton 2-3 Villa highlights. We had loads of good players and great belief then. But we couldn't string three passes together. Criminal really.

Danny Dichio. One of the three finest strikers I have seen in my time watching football. Along with Carl Leaburn and Robert Rosario.

Thanks for posting the Albion game Deano. That was my Dad's last trip to Villa Park. He decided that 'it won't get any better than beating them baŁ$%rds in the last minute' and went out on a high.
-
Thanks for sharing!
I'd totally forgotten that Staunton got sent off in that Albion game.
-
Ugh! The commentary on the Chelsea game! Is that Jack Woodward? Sheesh man. Great goal from Angel.
Anyway. This doesn't deserve a thread of it's own but it's nice to see all the same:

Arsenal will catch us this season, probably.
