Cometh the hour cameth the legend Franz Carr, in the FA Cup Quarter-Final at the City Ground, as we finally, finally won away in the 6th Round. Great day out.
Couldn't find it on You Tube.
Always remember it being the same day as the Dunblane Massacre and there being a minute's silence before kick off.

Had to miss the game as we were going out for a birthday meal for my moms birthday. The Beefeater in Minworth! Cheers mom.

That was one of finest away days - bloody cold. I had a failed attempt in starting a new chant 'We Love Franz Carr' to the tune of Gary Numan's Cars - too much beer.
The following Saturday we were awful at Sheffield Wednesday & Carr had a stinker.

This was a great night. The last time I went by coach to a Villa game
The first time we'd reached the semis for over a quarter of a century
-
Didn't it piss it down for much of the morning or am I thinking of another time?
-
That's one away match I would have loved to have gone to.

What a seasom that was, winning the League cup, FA Cup semi final and a 4th place finish.
Great team as well. Come the end of 1996 i was thinking that we could win the league. Happy days.

I was there, 13 years old. Was superb.

Me too, great atmosphere in the away end and a great finish for Carr's one and only Villa goal.

Went to that one......remember the Dunblane story breaking on the way up.Good few Villa if i remember, about 6/7k.
Thought we was on to a sustained period of success with this team/manager..........unfortunately never materialised, almost though.
