Join the queue of postponed city games with Sunderland and man utd - if city progress in the champions league they will be playing midweek games almost for the remainder of the season.

Sorry, but that's rubbish. The FA Cup has been devalued enough. It should always be played at the weekend.

It might be a good thing for us having to play in mid week now.We seem to have done better in mid week games this season .

It's strange to think that there is a generation of fans now who have no concept of cup games going to 4 or 5 replays. Or is it just me?

They're running scared from us! The Premier League should just award us the 3 points. Let's face it, we're going to get them anyway so why tire out the Man City players unnecessarily?

Good thing about the postponement is it gives Okore a bit more time to get back.  They reckon he might be ready some time in March?

I remember being at a fa cup semi final 3rd replay between arsenal and Liverpool in 79 at highfield road

So our only 3:00 Saturday kick off between now and April 5th has been moved. Great. I agree the FA Cup should take priority, but getting moved from 3:00 Saturday to 1:30/4:00/4:30 Sunday or 12:45/5:30 Saturday is now the norm rather than the exception.

When have we ever profited from a postponed fixture? Not that we were going to with Man City anyway.

Slightly off topic, but have the site owners ever considered a 'recommend' button on posts like some other sites have? When reading debates on this site I've often wondered which of the two arguments actually has the more widespread support.

Would save me from having to post 'x11' on this thread!

Unless they go for Tues 18th March (which would also be a replay date if they draw with Wigan) it will depend on whether they get through against Barca.
They play United on 25th March and the next round of Champions League takes up the first two midweeks in April (and semis take up the last two midweeks).

Can't we just claim a 3 nil win on the basis that they can't fulfill the fixture ?

apparently there is an agreement which prevents premier league clubs playing when the champions league is on?! hence why the hull v brighton replay is scheduled for a monday.

We may as well, because if the game is played we will win 3-0 anyway. Come on FA, you know it makes sense.

If we could play them on a Monday after they've played in the FA Cup on Saturday and we've had a free weekend that might be quite handy.

That is farcical. The only thing you can say I guess is it's the same for both teams.

The first mention I noticed of the no "top flight" club can play on a Champions League night was speculation on potential fixture problems for Sunderland, tied up with the League Cup Final, should they have drawn with Southampton in the FA Cup and needed a replay. What a farcical rule- as has already been observed above. Is there any sensible reason for the rule?
Thought not.

Premier League rules:
The Board shall have power at any time to change the date upon which a League Match is to be played. Before exercising such power the Board will consult with and take into account any representations made by the Clubs participating in the League Match in question and any other Club or Clubs which may be affected thereby.

A Club engaged in any match played in a UEFA competition on a Thursday evening and a League Match on the following Saturday may rearrange the League Match to the following Sunday provided that:
L.7.1. it gives notice to that effect to the Secretary and to its League Match opposing Club within 72 hours of the date of the UEFA match being fixed (or, if the period of 72 hours expires on a day which is not a Working Day, by close of business on the first Working Day thereafter);
L.7.2. there is no police objection;
L.7.3. the rearrangement of the League Match does not result in the opposing Club having to play another League Match, F.A. Cup match or UEFA match within 2 days of the rearranged League Match being played.
A Club may apply to the Board to rearrange a Saturday fixture so that it is played on the preceding Friday or the following Sunday and in considering whether to exercise its power to do so the Board shall have regard also to:
L.8.1. theprinciplethatsuchapplicationsshallnotnormallybegrantedinrespect of more than 2 League Matches in any one week;
L.8.2. the effect any such rearrangements would have on published football pool coupons.
-------------------

Good to see that they take pools coupons into account but couldn't give a shit about the fans.
Saying that, FA Cup dates are published at the start of the season so we are always aware of such postponements being likely.
