Title: Newcastle Away
Post by: astonvillan on February 07, 2014, 02:28:22 PM
Hearing that the 1600 allocation has now SOLD OUT.

Impressive if true. Just had a chat with a fella on Twitter and apparently fans ringing up to buy tickets are being told that we shan't be taking an increased allocation. Why on earth not? Over two weeks until the game and all they need to do at Newcastle is extend the segregation along the couple of thousand empty seats in that upper tier.

Surely with the change in rules this season whereby clubs only have to pay for any unsold tickets if they fail to shift 50% of an increased allocation, we should be asking for another 5/600 at least?

I wonder who's made that decision? Us or them.

Its based on previous seasons. We played there last season at the same time and probably took about 500. This is the first time in a long time that we have sold out.

If it were a 3pm Saturday kick off, which we never seem to have up there, then it may be worthwhile, but half 1 on a Sunday with it being televised is decent stuff.

I have been following us away from home for over twenty years, and bar two trips to Sunderland in the cup (the 4-1 Bosnich and Guzan games) this is the only time I can recall us selling out an allocation at either Sunderland or Newcastle. Impressive that it is 2 weeks prior to the game.

Oh I realise the initial decision to take just 1600 tickets is fully warranted based on previous seasons. Last season was a 4 o'clock Sunday kick off and we took just under 1000, Ads, which being just the second game of the season with relatively cheap ticket prices, was very poor. Fantastic day up in Newcastle, mind. Sun shining, beers on the waterfront in mid twenty degree temperatures. More Villa fans should've joined us!

Shocked and impressed that the 1600 has gone with over two weeks to go until the match, but find it odd that it's being said we won't be receiving any more.

I travelled up from Bournemouth for that one, an absolute wreck after two days and nights on a stag do.

We should have won.

We can't ask for just another 5/600, it has to be the full whack taking it up to 3,000 and what we don't sell can't be returned and must still be paid for. Same situation at Everton last week. Them's the rules.

The rules have changed, Joe, in line with the OP. However, I don't know what incremental amounts you can get between the 1600 and 3000. That may be the problem. They may expect quite a few returned as well.

DC5: We've had an allocation of 1800 there in the not too distant past. And 2350 for the 6-0, with the potential for that allocation to rise to 2850.

I didn't know that, cheers. I received my match ticket today but not the coach. Hmm...

Remember that time that we had no allocation at all when the ground was being rebuilt? I had to give £30 to a tout to get in.

Take a closer look, usually the tickets will all state the same price but have one stub for a child or two stubs for an adult ( or the other way round)

Yes, the allocation was increased to 2200 and they're selling quite well.

That is a fantastic following up there for an half-1 kick off on a Sunday.

I appreciate that this is extremely unlikely, but just in case anyone is planning to drive to Newcastle from the Glasgow area and wishes to share expenses, please PM me.
