Aston Villa Old Stars are fielding a side of ex first team players in the fight against the terrible disease motor neurone.
Birmingham resident and veteran Villa supporter John Condron who is living with this debilitating condition wanted to do something to fight back against MND.
Having read (in the MND Association Thumb Print magazine) about ex-professional Mark Maddox from Liverpool who is waging his own battle against MND, with a Football v MND campaign, John, a lifelong Aston Villa fan, went to straight to the top and approached the club direct.
Neil Rioch of the Aston Villa Old Stars is delighted to be able to support John and said: “the Aston Villa Ex Players Association and the Old Stars team are pleased to be able to support John in his plans and be involved in his campaign to raise awareness and funds in support of the MND Association.”
The MNDA v Aston Villa Old Stars game will take place on the 11th May 2014 at the University of Birmingham'The Pavilion, Moor Lane, Birmingham B6 7AA.. Kick off will be at 2pm with entry by match day programme and there will be an opportunity to meet the Old Stars team after the match for photographs and autographs.
Entrance to the match and evening entertainment is by purchase of a Match-day Programme at £3 available via email to MNDAvVilla@virginmedia.com confirming a £5 gift (incl p&p) to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/villavmnda .

Dave, do you know if the kerfuffle and argy baggy between Old Stars and Legends been sorted out amicably? If so of the former players who plays for which team or do some turn out for both?

I've been to a couple of the Lions & Legends games recently to get some stuff signed. It tends to be several of the European cup winners, Spink, Cowans, Bremner, Morley, McNaught, Shaw. Also Staunton, Teale, Small and a few lesser knowns. I think the all stars best known player is Lee Hendrie.
