We're fuck awful at home. They're fuck awful full stop. I think Benteke's hitting form at the right time which I hope will be enough to scrape the win. I think it'll be tortuous to watch but we'll get 3 points.

He was meant to be unlikely to play in the first game as well but he ended up coming off the bench. I reckon he will.

This will be my second visit this season, at this rate I'll end up as bitter as the rest of you.

Oh and the Mrs nephew organised a night out on Weds for his Birthday. He's had to cancel because of the match. He forgot about the match.

He's Albion and he might know who they are but not when they're playing.

About time we battered these mugs, it's been a while. Smart money is a draw as that's how the last 4 have finished but I reckon if they play the same team they did v Everton e.g. Lugano somewhere in their defence we'll score a few in this.

4-2 win, Benteke hattrick and Gabby if he's fit to notch the other.

Bringing the missus to this. Her attendant record reads P3 W1 D2 L0, so should be good for a point. Here's hoping for a repeat of the 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' performance, anything like it and we'll do 'em proper good.
3-0

I am very confident. 2-1 or 3-1 Villa. Unfortunately, as a season ticket holder, confidence not only doesn't come around very often but also spectacularly backfires on the odd occasion I can muster it up.

This is an ideal opportunity to put some distance between us and the bottom clubs. Unfortunately that has usually meant we don't take the opportunity.  3 points would make us fairly comfortable but one good 45 mins at Liverpool has not turned us into good side. All that aside, I'm hopeful we will win.

Probably my last game of the season due to the pregnant Mrs MDC getting almost as big and immobile as Richard Dunne. Hoping for a win to mark the occasion. As someone up the thread said a win here and there will be a good gap to the bottom three.

If gabby is out I've a feeling he may play the same eleven that played the second half v Liverpool

I stand by to be corrected but I think that would be a mistake - really lacking I width, creativity and pace. I can see it being a bit like the Cardiff home game but with them having more of an attacking threat

If gabby is out I wouldn't play holt. I'd bring bacuna in for KEA with Lowton at RB, and albrighton on the left. Weimann off benteke.

A diamond with benteke and holt looks pretty long ball to me, especially with no real width in midfield and Weimann as the number 10

Gagging for this one - as long as we give 'em a good hiding! Long overdue!
I've got a feeling for 3-1.
So it'll probably be 0-0.

We'll hit the woodwork 14 times and have 17 goals disallowed.

2 weeks later the ref's spokesman person thingy will apologise that they should have had 12 penalties, Olsson will tell the BBC that Chris Herd stamped on him again (even though he wasn't playing) and Anelka will be elected top man at the UN. Popo Molo, or whatever his name is, will be hailed as The Secong Coming!

I'm not sure it's a good idea. Only because Anelka's one of those players who might let it spur him on to put some effort in and raise his game. If he does that, he's a good player and might hurt us. Personally I'd ignore the fecker and hope he coasts through the game as he has done most of his time at WBA.

I remember in the early 1990's the crowd giving Ian wright loads of stick when we played arsenal at villa park. He was suspended for an upcoming Eufa cup final and the crowd were taking the piss. He scored two to win the game for them. I thought then that perhaps taunting a player all game seems to be counterproductive so let's not eh?

I want to say Villa win. I want to say a Villa win by 3 goals to 1 with a good strong performance.

Sadly I've been to all the home games this season and the above sentence just looks ridiculous, far more likely is a 0-0 / 1-1 / scrappy 1-0 to either side.

Ah, fuck likely, 4-0 Villa. Let's have 'em.

This game will be interesting to see if we've turned a corner following the 2nd half against Arsenal and the Anfield game.  If we have, then these are the sort of games we struggle in, so a decent performance and a win will tell us a lot.

I think this is one thing we need to address at some point. If Gabby is ever out, we haven't really got another wide man or forward with  pace to replace him. It didn't help when he went off against Liverpool.

I was referencing a film from 1984 Paul. Don't worry, the 1980's will reach Tipton sometime in the next decade.

Contrariwise, I am surprised that someone clearly as limited as you is that advanced, being honest.

I'd be interested to see what Lambert does with as seems likely no Gabby.

I agree his absence will be crucial. Without him suddenly Olsson and McAuely can just concentrate on ruffing up Benteke and Weimann can easily disappear from games.

I think I'd start Holt and see if he can last 60 minutes to give the two CBs something else to think about. It would also be logical to start Albrighton if that's the front two.

Would mean we'd be predictably outnumbered in the centre as no doubt WBA will play 5 in there but fack it given how shite we are at home sitting back with 3 in there and conceding the first goal, I'd rather go a bit more gung ho for the win.

The reality is so many of the teams in the bottom half will struggle to even make 40 points, hopefully we have enough about us to do that so I'm not worried about relegation at all.

Not when just a point will get us back in 10th, that should be the target this season.

If reports are true and Anelka plays tonight, I hope the Villa fans give him what he fully deserves.
A smelly fish?

The ref is Mark Clattenburg apparently.
Good thing or bad thing ? What do you reckon ?

Good, he's one of the best refs out there.

Agreed. He also is not afraid to book divers which is good.

If it's who I'm thinking it is, he's happy to take the limelight and let it be all about him.

Thats him. He used to be that way. He has changed in my opinion. After he was falsely accused of abusing a player he has become a lot more no nonsense.

Of course now we have praised him he will probably give two unfair penalties against us :)

Second best Ref in the league, behind Andre Marriner, Villa legend.

I can clarify that. It's raining down with what can only be described as drops of water. Loads of them.

This is the real Internet. How many famous people have you met so far? Will the inclement weather affect H&V sales? Has Dave W met Gary Shaw yet?

Waiting for the rain to ease off before dashing from the car to the chippy. Then its the short hop to Tesco  before the final leg to the LTR. Oh the humanity......

Hmm 4-3-1-2 with Bacuna in the hole?

Glad to see KEA in the starting line up. He always adds energy.

Could be 4-4-2, in which cas Mony may blow a fuse:

Guzan,
Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Bertrand,
Bacuna, Westwood, El Ahmadi, Delph,
Weimann, Benteke.

Don't like Westwood and El Ahmadi at home.

Delph on the left bacuna on the right then?

Tend to agree Westwood & Kea dont play that well together. I prefer to see Westwood dropped though.
