Thought we needed a new thread with the TV season starting tonight.
-
I wish Steve Bunce did football.
-
I wish Steve Bunce did football.
I can remember him having to fill in for 2 hours last year, the poor sod.
-
I hope Price has worked on his footwork.
Here we go.
-
And there we went.
-
And there we went.
Just what he needed, time to step back up in class, but I have my doubts just think he isn't right in the head.
-
That was a great fight.
-
Groves and Froch on May 31st then - should be a good one.

The Ricoh will be desperate to get it.
-
I fancy Groves to win this time.

Fury's a big lad tonight.

I have noticed your penchant for boxing - are you related to Richie woodhall by any chance?

A stripey? I think not.

No blue and white stripey sheep in the family then? I have a couple of them in mine.
Didn't get to see the heavyweights this weekend, has Fury started to look like a boxer yet? He's got a very impressive record and deserves some respect for it but his technique has always looked abysmal to me, just wondering if 10months without a fight has given him time to focus on it a bit more rather than just relying on his height and power. He's still calling out Klitschko but he doesn't seem to be in that class for me, maybe the lack of quality in the division in general is part of the problem though.
Looking forward to Froch vs Groves again, I really enjoyed the last fight I think it'll be close again but Froch might take it a little more seriously this time.
-
We allowed one, as an experiment.
They were two strange fights. Fury was well on top but he was horrendously out of shape and clowned around too much. Chisora was just boring - his opponent is talented but didn't seem to want to be in there while. Chisora couldn't/wouldn't step up to stop him.
Fury's great box office; he's exciting and there's always the chance he'll get caught. Chisora has managed to lose the British title, then European, then world, then to Haye, but still keeps a top ten ranking and tops bills.
-
Three cards on 3 different channels tonight, very clever.
-
And nothing last night.

Boxnation should do Friday nights.

Or Sky again. And Boxnation should do small hall shows. Speaking of which there's one at Walsall tonight.

British Eurosport will be going big on the smaller shows. They have got Discovery Channel money behind them.Tuesday night boxing works for me.

What does the fighter expect when he is hanging on the ropes. No problem with that stoppage.
-
Joshua did all he had to.
-
James DeGale's always an accident waiting to happen.
-
James DeGale's always an accident waiting to happen.
Has he lost again?
-
I fear for Ricky Burns tonight. KO in 5. BUT, if he comes out and fights as well as he did last time he's got every chance. But, the worry is how much that took out of him. Dislocated jaw and everything.
-
James DeGale's always an accident waiting to happen.
Has he lost again?
No, just got the stoppage at the end of the eleventh but he got caught a couple of times. I don't know if he boxes within himself or he's Euro level at best.
-
Took Crawford ko/tko at 15/8.Burns has had too many hard fights.

That's his level I'm afraid.

The cynic in me says 9/4 for a Eddie Hearn world champion on an Eddie Hearn card in his own back yard is exceedingly good value.

Nah Burns luck will run out tonight.
-
oh ffs bagpipes. F off.
-
oh ffs bagpipes. F off.
It was either that or music.
-
Unless Crawford is injured...I think he's just conserving all of his energy until the later rounds when you think Burns will start to tire. Crawford will then take charge.
-
This is looking ominous, both for Burns and for my fifty new pence.
-
Burns will need to take him out.Crawford 4up for me.
-
Surely won't last much longer.
-
If I was in Burns corner I would be thinking of pulling him out.
-
If I was in Burns corner I would be thinking of pulling him out.
Why? He's 2 1/2 rounds away from a split points win.
-
Jim Watt's annoying me constantly criticising Burns. Burns has gone into this fight thinking he'd have the same drive but has found out in the ring that the spark is missing. With that in mind he's fighting on as well as he can. He probably knows this will be his last world title fight, if not his last fight full stop. Watt must know this so should be commentating appreciably for the effort he's putting in rather than constantly going on about his jaw and that he must be hurt and carping on saying, " I don't why he's fighting like this" "this isn't the Rickie Burns we're used to seeing in this country".
Twat. He's clearly going to lose and he's trying to get through to the end. Let him lose with a bit of dignity.
-

Very good.
-
Burns just isn't up for this one. He's like a challenger who wants to go the distance against a great champion.

I wonder if the weight has done him.

108-102 at best.

118-111.
-
116-112 or 117-111

108-102 at best.
Crawford by 8 for me.
-
Arthur Abraham won as well.
-
They tried their best to give it him.

Artur Abraham won as well.
Bloody hell does he fight with an iron lung.
-
So, where does Burns go from here? He's been poor in his last three fights but he's still a class above anything else domestically.
-

I hope he gives up for his own sake,he has too many hard fights me to think he could fight at world level again at the level he wants.

It's started already!

Watching McIntosh v Dickinson on Channel 5 , didn't know Micky Duff had passed away.
-
Good performance.
-
Frankie Gavin, marking time again.
-
Frankie Gavin, going the distance with a journeyman again.
-
Working tonight is it worth watching when I get back?
-
He got put down in the second but after that he probably won every round. It was the usual Gavin - all the skill in the world but boring as hell and after five years as a pro he should be fighting better than this.
-

You do have to wonder if he is ever going fulfill his potential Dave and what the problem is.
-
He wasted a couple of years due to a few problems out of the ring but he's still fighting no better standard of opponent than he was in 2012.
-
Well, well.
-
Buncy's voice might not last as long as Lambert.
-
Get on with it.
-
Can't see this lasting, come on Enzo.
-
Some eye that is.
-
Brave try Enzo
-
I'm on a train. What happened?
-
Eye closed (and I mean closed)wanted to carry on,corner pulled him out end of round 6.
One hell of a brave try.
Looked like he bust his cheakbone as well.
A lot of head being used by the German in Germany.
-
Good interview with Enzo after.
-
Thanks. Respect for Enzo for coming back in the last couple of years (that night at Wolverhampton was awful). I hope he retires now and enjoys it.
-

I don't think he will if the interview is anything to go by.
He was hopeful of a rematch.

I hope not. He's been the most exciting British boxer of the past ten years but there's only one way for him now.

Good fight this.

Nice performance from Skeete. Imagine paying to watch this card though.
-

Tower ballroom card at best.
-
It's not quite that bad but it's a Friday Night Sky leisure centre level. Without Buglioni the place would be deserted.
-
He has all the movement of a Villa striker.
-
If they wanted a test they got one.
-
Well stone me.Outclassed.
-
Good job his corner saved him because the ref wasn't going to.
-
Good job his corner saved him because the ref wasn't going to.
Shite ref.
-
Nice finish.Hope he is all right.
-
It might have been a shite card but there were some decent fights.
-
I see David glass jaw Price looking world class again.
-
Scott Quigg looking impressive.
-
Anybody staying up to watch tonight?
You can get 3/1 against Khan winning, get on it.
-
Have to say Khan looked very good,as for Mayweather meh as usual.
-
Mayweather just does enough. I think he'd wipe the floor with Khan if it ever happens.
-
I fear Martin Gethin is going to get sparked tonight.
-

Dave did you watch the fight..i didn't..i see he lost on a split decision....was that fair?

He was well beaten -God knows how he got it from one judge.
-
Good card down in Cardiff tonight. Callum Smith looks a real prospect.
-
Great fight Rees v Buckland.
-
Great fight Rees v Buckland.
Yep and Rees will be missed. Always in good fights
-
Good refereeing just now in the Cleverly v Corbin fight. Guy didn't even go down but got pulled up by the ref bob on time.
-
Is anyone watching the Travis Dickinson fight on channel 5? Incredible fight in terms of excitement if not technical ability. Five knockdowns shared between fighters in the first five rounds.
-
...and now ruined by an early stoppage.
-
Selby a little underwhelming in his points win. It's almost like he doesn't really know how good he is.
-
Just watching Groves vs Froch the gloves are off, to be fair it does seem like there is a real disliking between them. Which is quite novel with all the fake and pretend "hatred" between the fighters.
-
Just watching Groves Vs Froch the first fight and by Jevus you wouldn't pick Froch to win in a million years after 9 rounds I can't imagine he had won more than 2 rounds. Incredible fight and can't believe the ref stopped it!!! He was still throwing punches back. Can't wait until Saturday for the rematch.
-
Weigh in for Froch v Groves 2 @4.pm Friday.Looks like Froch got his way.
-
the fight should not have been stopped at that stage, but Froch was coming back strong at the time,
now if Froch underestimated Groves and didn't put 100% into his training, then he will this time round so he might be in better condition,
however he is the older man and you would have thought Groves could only improve on last time out as he will have more experience and a lot of confidence
I actually want Groves to win, Froch comes over as a bit whiney and condescending, but it has all the makings of a cracking fight
-
Anyone know what pubs in Birmingham usually show the boxing? Looking to watch Froch vs Groves on Saturday somewhere.
-
I was just coming onto the Boxing Thread to ask the same thing....
-
I would guess just about any pub with a TV will show it.
-
There hasn't been this much interest in a really competitive British fight since that fight in September (?) 1990 and the re-match. Can't wait for it. I too thought, as I guess most did, that Groves was very unlucky but I also think Froch underestimated him which is unlikely to happen second time around. But will Froch respond as he had to do it against Bute, or will this be one young pup too many for him?
-
Froch in 6 rounds for me this time.
-
Froch in 6 rounds for me this time.
Earlier today I wagered a few pounds on the very same, 20-1 at William Hills.
-
I won't see it sadly, but I think Groves will win.
-
I won't see it sadly, but I think Groves will win.
Beginning to think I won't either :-(
-
I'm going Groves 9th round stoppage....Froch is a great fighter, but his whining has got on my nerves.
-
Grove's has a style which Froch struggles against. His fast hands and movement around the ring were an absolute nightmare for Froch last time.
I don't buy Froch's line that he didn't prepare properly for the 1st fight. Its a cop out, rather than just admitting he was outboxed for 8 rounds before the ref stopped it the first time Groves was in any sort of trouble.
I think if Groves can keep his head, and refuse to become involved into the brawl he got dragged into in the 8th and 9th rounds, then he'll win.
-
I think that Rileys are showing the fight and the Lord Clifden in the Jewellery Quarter.
-
Wouldnt be surprised if Groves wins on points if he has the stamina. Froch most certainly has. A close decision followed by a third match possibly at Villa Park.
-
I'd like to see Groves win, don't think he has the power for a K.O, so maybe on points, but i reckon it'll be Froch late on.
-
I've watched the ending of the first fight at least a dozen times and while I thought it was premature then, now I'm not so sure. Just before the ref steps in Groves seems to stumble forward and to me that's the crux of the matter because I can't see whether he was tripped or whether he really was that unsteady.
Anyway, I think Groves will win based on my adage that more often than not youth beats experience.
-
I think tonight's fight will be a slow burner for the first couple of rounds, then the fun will start.
-
I know very little about boxing, but want Froch to win.
-
At last some boxing.
-
Well there was.
-
I'm out. W'happen?
-
I'm out. W'happen?
Joshua won in in about a minute.
-
McDonnel fight good so far.
-
Round 10 KO McDonnel looked very good.
-
2 out of 2 so far but Mitchell struggling here to make it a hat trick
-
2 out of 2 so far but Mitchell struggling here to make it a hat trick
Agreed getting a bit of a lesson so far.
-
Seems I'm going to miss it. Oh bother.
-
This is turning into another good fight.Mitchell coming back into it.
-
Seems I'm going to miss it. Oh bother.
I will try my best to keep you informed but the home brew might be kicking in by big fight time.Good card so far and good to see a lot of the crowd are already in the seats. The price of a Wembley pint might be helping that.
-
I daresay it'll be repeated before long.
-
I daresay it'll be repeated before long.
Every 4 hours over every Sky Sports Channel normally. We will be sick of it by the end of the summer.
-
DeGale winning well.
-
DeGale looked world class.
-
How did Mitchell go?
-
How did Mitchell go?
Won by KO the DeGale stoppage looked a bit early.

I thought he stopped that too early.

Thanks.
-
Yafhi won in round one,he does look a prospect.
-
HBO just described the Froch = Groves first fight as set in Midlands Manchester!!!!
-
Not much going on so far.
-
Bloody hell I called this fight right so far.
-
Froch looking the better so far but not much between them.
-
Groves needs to step it up quick.
-
Bloody hell!
-
Bloody hell. That was a finish.
-
What a punch.
-
What a punch. Shame though I thought Groves was starting to get on top it was just getting interesting.
-
Froch won?
-
Have to tell you, no help whatsoever. Had to nip into the kitchen and listen to get TS reporting that Froch was on top.
Please post more clearly. Thank you.
-
That how you settle an argument.Fair play Carl Froch
-
Has Froch won? I think he has.
-
Froch fought very well. I couldn't see Groves dropping him at any stage.

Amir Khan still has Groves in control and ahead on points.
-
Amir Khan still has Groves in control and ahead on points.
How much is he paying him
-
That's a genuine knock out, Groves was unconcious for a few seconds, fell like a bag of bricks.
DW - I'm just catching up and notice your comment about Groves wobbling just before the stoppage in the first fight, that's exactly what I was on about at the time on here.
-
Kapow!
-
That how you settle an argument.Fair play Carl Froch
That's the truth.
-
Carl Froch tonight was superb, he started the fight very well i thought controlling it with his jab but fair play to George battling back into the fight
and was certainly getting on terms....but fcuk me what a punch.
Froch has earned the respect of any doubters tonight and i must admit i was one....i hope he gets his chance to fight in Vegas, there isn't a place on earth
better to watch a fight especially at the MGM.
Nearly 37...absolute fair play to him.
I may even go and watch him if he fights in Vegas!!!
Groves will be back.
My youngest son has gone tonight and he himself said he was swept away with the atmosphere....we do do a good spectacle!
-
Just listening to Robert McCracken....he may well be a blue nose twat...but he spoke well then about tonight...even bringing his daughters to the fight....confident or what.He envisages Froch going for at least another 3 years.
In the late 80's i followed McCracken through all his ABA fights through to the final at Wembley Arena....which unfortunately lost..to Hartlepool lad, Hall was it!!!,but then he turned
pro and all them 'Zulu twats' started following him and my enjoyment of watching him diminished rapidly so stopped going.
Same thing happening now watching Frankie Gavin...can't go and watch him anymore....pleasure to watch his skills though...great hand speed and quick feet!
-
I don't think I've ever got a fight prediction right.
-
I don't think I've ever got a fight prediction right.
i'm with you there Dave...i fancied St George!
After 3 rounds of Mitchell fight i thought there's an 'ammering' on the way for Mitchell....so wrong.
-
The first fight I've watched with Mrs Gonz, she's not much of a one for organised violence, and she loved it. Excellent, cagey to begin, opened out, the slight air of desperation when Froch thought he might be undone in the 7th and a belter of a right cross that was beautifully set up by a left feint. The first real attempt Froch had made to unwind a big right hand. The seasoned pro putting a young pup squarely in his place. Thought Groves showed a distinct lack of class in the build and the post match interviews and am thoroughly glad the belts remained in place.
Props to Degale also who showed a different dimension to his boxing this evening. The first sign that he may not be a plodding journeyman after all.
-

I look forward to watching the entire card later. I agree with you about McCracken - his career was marred by the wankers who followed him (although I don't think Gavin's are as bad) but he's a quality trainer.
-
Groves has all the skills but lacks a really big punch and it looks like he can't take one either! Mind you, that would have finished most boxers.
Groves might well win a world title in one of the acronyms but he won't be half the champion Froch has been.
-

Not fair to say he can't take a punch, Froch suckered him and then landed one that'd have downed a bear, that was as good a knock out punch as I've seen. I do agree that Groves hasn't got the power to compete at the very top, he's got very quick hands though so he'll always give people a tough time.
He was outdone by a boxer who is rightly regarded one of the best for a generation, I don't think Froch saw Groves as a threat for the first fight, this time he took him more seriously, started much better and was in control for most of the fight for me. Groves did land a few clean blows but it never looked like being anything but a Froch win for me.
-
De Gale's win was impressive as well, but I reckon he should steer clear of Froch just now, he's not ready for that.
-
Impressive stuff.
-
I'm glad the belts stayed with Froch and he ended it conclusively, if it had gone to points there were enough rounds close enough to have Groves claiming he'd won. Groves was not very popular where I was watching the fight.
-
I don't think I've ever got a fight prediction right.
On the very rare occasions I bet on something where there can only be one winner, after I've decided who I think will win, I bet on their opponent. With stakes of less than £5, there's been no noticeable change to my finances.
-

He's a Chelsea fan and comes across as a cocky c*nt.
Is that Yafdi a Villa fan? They said he's from Brum.
-
I think Eddie Hearn was hoping for a Groves win so they would meet again for a third time... which they possibly might, if the money on the table dictates.
-
No, no point for Froch unless he loses his next couple of fights. But at his age he'd just retire. groves is out of the picture now.

Groves vs Degale in about a year will be billed as a fight to replace Froch at the top, I think Groves will win it and have a decent career but I don't think he'll ever have the power to rule the division like Froch has.

I would love Ward and Froch to get it on,but I can see why Froch would take a different route.
I agree about Britain,Froch is an old school ' I will fight anywhere' boxer, and has done the sport a lot of good in this country.
-
Hall v Butler later tonight...just started to watch what i thought would be the undercard but first fight on David Price continuing his comeback in Germany v Zavorotnyi, i assume a Russian.
It's boring the life out of me but i think he is doing enough...just going into the 5th.
-
Price points 97-92, 100-90. 98-92
-
David Price still has so much to learn about boxing,Don't think he will ever get the game.

-
Up to Newcastle now British & Commonwealth title up for grabs Cruiserweight Ovil McKenzie v John Lewis Dickinson ....this could be a cracker, Ovil always good to watch.
-
That didn't take much of a punch.
-
Ovill McKenzie has brought the British Cruiserweight back to Derby along with his Commonwealth with a great 2nd round knockout, a left to the temple followed up
with a right to the chin....bang all over.
-
Next fight on Chris Eubank Jnr v Stepan Horvath
Chris Eubank Snr in his lads corner tonight, waistcoat , sleeveless shirt and dickie bow, monocle missing though!!!
-
Mr Eubank what are you wearing.
-
Mr Eubank what are you wearing.
Have you ever seen anything like that....Eubank Jnr sits down in the corner, Eubank Snr stands 3 yards away posing not saying a word. pure comedy

Your right no need for him to be in the corner tonight.
-
What a left hook to the body by Bradley Saunders, a win by KO in the first round v a Finn who has been around the top of the European circuit, can't pronounce his name...
summat like pisspoorman
-
I've missed the two early nights so far. I think this could be another.
-
Whatever I say, always put your house on the opposite.
-
Stuart Hall & Paul Butler have just put on an epic bout a great scrap....gone to a split decision judges scoringit:
115-113 Butler
115-113 Hall
117- 111 and new IBF world champion Paul Butler
I thought Butler but would not have been upset if it went the other way....great fight.
-
I gave it to Hall by a round. Six was ridiculous.
-
I thought that Hall had it by a round too.
-
Good performance by Willie Limond, and respect to Curtis Woodhouse.
-
Burns not going to plan.

Nightmare for them! I wonder of they'll try and go as live or rejoin wherever it is..
-
Burns by at least four. Put your house on it.

Hmmm. So he'll lose then...

This is a very good fight.
-
Another good card on Sky. Why do they have to refer to every place as a "great boxing city" though?
-

Your right, pity they can't say that about Brum.
-
Wow this Argie fighter is out of puff after two rounds.
-
Very good from AJ.He does look the part.
-
Tony Bellow does like to switch off in fights.Cant do that at world level.
-
2 rounds each for me.
-

To be totally honest, I think all involved with Sky overrate Bellew. He's come unstuck every time he's stepped up to world class level.
-
I don't think he's ever been world class. He fought the fight of his life when he lost to Cleverley and he's lived off that ever since. This is a poor card and he's just shown yet again that I know nothing about boxing.
-
Nice stoppage but then turned into a prick.
-

The next couple of minutes might be interesting.

Bellow will lose the head always does.
-
Great knockout, but this is descending into pantomime stuff. Pretty unedifying stuff really.
-
Well that certainly did boxing's reputation plenty of good.
-
Can I say Bellow is full of shit yet?

I think you can, yes.

Bellew sells tickets so he'll be able to get some decent fights but I can see him & Cleverley doing a stadium.

Would it be fair to say that Bellew only really sells tickets in Liverpool as a headliner Dave? There doesn't really seem much interest outside Liverpool, though the fight with Cleverley and the kind of nonsense we saw tonight will attract a good crowd wherever it is held. Being as it is going to be around October time, I would think the arena in Manchester ("the up and coming boxing capital of Britain" according to Sky) will be a likely venue.
-
He's big in Liverpool; I wonder if he could do Goodison.
-
He's big in Liverpool; I wonder if he could do Goodison.
Good shout Dave, though I thought I heard Eddie Hearn mention Manchester or London in the post fight interview. The NIA and NEC don't even seem to get a look in anymore.
-
They would struggle to sell the fight in Brum.
-
Birmingham isn't a boxing city. Frankie Gavin and Matt Macklin haven't fought here since 2010 and Kal Yafai, one of the hottest prospects in Britain, never has.

At work who is top of the bill with Fury pulling?

Billy Joe Saunders. Welborne was knocked out in six and Eubank jr looked awesome winning in the first.

Ta.

Who was the bare-knuckle fighter who swore blind he'd beat Eubank Jnr?

When, not if, Fury gets destroyed, i will be overjoyed. Can't stand the bellend.

I'm sure he'd only be too willing to discuss the matter with you.

Haha, well as long as he just hit me straight away so i didn't have to listen to the bollocks he comes out with. It was so laughable when he tipped the table over in the chisora press conference, and then struggle to get over it. He really doesn't realise what he looks like. I guess blows to the head would do that.
-
When, not if, Fury gets destroyed, i will be overjoyed. Can't stand the bellend.
Not his biggest fan either, but I do feel for the guy as his career has effectively been put on hold for nearly two years. It must have been an extremely frustrating time for him and I just wonder how hard he'll find it to get back on track.

You're a kinder man than me Tom 👍

Frankie Gavin's lost.
-
Frankie Gavin's lost.
Can't find anything about it online Dave. Did he lose on points or was he stopped?
-
Points, split decision. He was dropped in the sixth and fair play to them, even the noses applauded the other bloke.
-
Great fight, i know he's a nose but he is a talented kid, i can't find a reason to argue with the decision, he did well to get off the floor
after the body shot. He certainly should not have stormed from the ring in the way that he did.......maybe that's the typical small heath
attitude. I am a fan though!!!!

Can see him going one of two ways after this. It could inspire him to try and make the most of the obvious talent he has or he could lose his head and go back to his bad old habits. I know which one I would like to see, but fear that I know which one is more likely.
-
Decided to stay up for the Kell Brook fight. Big night for him and I hope he can bring the title back.
-

He did won on points.

I didn't think he would after wasting so much time with second-raters but well done to him.

He certainly did and I've really paid today for staying up that late to watch it!! You really do wonder about some of the scorecards though, as two judges had Brook by six and four rounds respectively, whereas Dave Paris had it as a draw.
-
Kel Brook stabbed whilst on holiday.Don't know if it was Spain or not.
-
yeah just seen that ,Tenerife it said.... I hope he is well.

Thanks..........I will go to bed and listen to it on the radio
-
How has the undercard been?
-
Not great - Eamonn O'Kane was getting well beaten before scraping a TD 13 seconds before the end of the fourth.
-
Frampton's lack of head movement is a concern.
-
Frampton would be in trouble against a counter punch, but so far so good.
-
This is the fight I expected from the start.
-
This's be a great 15 rounder.
-

Very true how much on a rematch?
-

Frampton's 2-0 up so I doubt a third fight would sell.

Fight number 3 in a bullring somewhere in Spain.
-
This's be a great 15 rounder.

Frampton's 2-0 up so I doubt a third fight would sell.
Hopefully Quigg will win his upcoming fight and will fight Frampton in 2015. Cleverley v Bellew, Quigg v Frampton and Brook v Khan are the domestic fights I'd like to see in the next year.
-
Floyd Mayweather.......... How is this guy allowed on the streets let alone in the boxing ring.
What a nasty piece of work
http://deadspin.com/mayweather-on-being-a-serial-woman-beater-only-god-c-1634290732
-
That didn't last long.
-
What a fight so far.
-
That one lasted longer than usual.
-
Quigg beats another boxer who can't take a body punch.Matchroom want to make him a star but can't with the shite put in front of him.
-
Frampton beats quigg by stoppage; too strong, too fit, same goes for Santa Cruz This kid is destined for greatness,so much ringcraft.
-
Joshua won very comfortably again then.
-
Three televised cards tonight. Paddy Power have odds for eleven fights; the narrowest-priced favourite is 1/9.
-
That was some finish.
-
Gamal Yafai, who I assume is Kai's brother, won his debut on points.
-
I hate German promoted fights.
-
Did I fucking really just fucking see the fucking England fucking band?
-
The prodigy haven't weathered very well.
-
Groves needs to get this over with.
-
Just put a couple of quid on Groves to lose.Just a feeling.
-
Interviewing in the ring?
Must of been a German board of control fight.
-
What an embarrassing interview.
-
Galahad looked good from what I saw of his fight, and Kal Yafai won in two.
-
For all the sky hype I thought the Groves fight had great energy but barely a clean shot landed in 12 rounds....I'm with Froch a decent puncher beats Groves every fight.
But I do find him to be a bit of a bell end with his stupid hat & headphones
-
Matthew Macklin just fought some Spaniard...Yebes in an 8 rounder on the undercard of the Paul Smith fight...won on points. Only his 3rd fight in 3 years.
-

Don't think he can be too choosey about sponsors
-
Paul Smith putting up a great show against Arthur Abraham gone through 7 at the moment, probably not in the lead but it's close.
-
Round eight and he's still in there.
-
nine gone....could he do it....he is in Germany after all!!!!!
-
Smith is doing excellently, but in Germany I can't see him getting the decision if it goes that far.
-
Keep going to the body.
-
Brilliant fight,
-
All down to the judges now!!!!
-
He won't get the decision
-
No I doubt it, but he deserves it.
-
Shocking decision, absolutely shocking.
-
Boxing judging is absolutely criminal.
-
117-111,117-111,119-109 that is a disgrace, absolute disgrace.
-
If anyone who doesn't follow boxing wants to know what happened, imagine if the ref had said we won today.
-
There are many reasons why boxing is a declining sport, but the standard of judging is a big one.
-
Total joke, he should complain to the WBO because those judges weren't watching the same fight I just saw
-
Sadly I'm not actually surprised
-
I really think boxing judges should have to remotely judge from a different location with no sound available to them. I know it's not ideal, but they need to take any sort of home crowd decision out of it.
-
Not exactly a new thing for such a terrible decision to happen in Germany, but that doesn't excuse it.
-
No well if the boxing authorities don't want their sport to disappear down the plughole they need to do something about it.
-
Even at the boxing Leeds fans are arseholes.
-
Even at the boxing Leeds fans are arseholes.
Yeah. The presenters and pundits kept referring to what a great atmosphere it was, but it looked a little on the cave dwelling side to me. Could see problems happening if Warrington were to fight another British fighter who took a following up there.
In the ring though, he has made great strides in such a short space of time.
-
He looks a quality fighter, but he's just made himself very difficult to put on in any other city. Him on the same bill as Frankie Gavin or Tony Bellew would be fun.
-

Yeah, would probably have to introduce an 'away' section the first time in boxing!! I haven't followed him too closely, but found it a little strange that last night was only his third stoppage in almost 20 fights. Normally boxers who have gone to mix at the higher levels have a much higher stoppage rate and blow most of their early opponents away within a couple of rounds.
-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/29540108
Not quite on the same topic but one of the things I don't like about boxing is the very shady, if not a touch threatening, world of boxing promoters.
-
Frank Warren loves a day in court.
-
Joshua was very impressive but the ref should have stepped in earlier.
-
AJ is gonna a World champ, he is a superb prospect. I see he is fighting Michael Sprott on 22/11 on same bill as Cleverley & Bellew fight.
Anyone know where that is happening. I may try for a ticket so i can see AJ before he reaches megastardon and ticket prices to match.
On another note Lee Selby was excellent last night against unbeaton Aussie 27-0 going into the fight , a good stoppage and probably did
win every round.

They are going to find it hard to make good matches for Joshua going forward. I can't remember seeing a fight where anyone has laid a glove on him yet and most of his fights have been over after he has landed his first punch.
-
Anyone watching the boxing on ch 5 ?
-
I am. Stuart Hall's game but not good enough.
-
easy win really
-
Michael Katsidis should be banned from boxing now.
-
I am. Stuart Hall's game but not good enough.
Yep, I agree totally, he made a really good fight of it though
The problem I have with the British based commentators and pundits is they always make it out a lot closer than it really is,
-
This is a good, old-fashioned bloodbath.
-
Good win for Kal there.
-
Good win for Kal there.
The Nicaraguan was very experienced, was indeed a very good win, and as he said himself in interview it will have done no harm
at all going the full 12 rd distance.
Just hope Macklin can come away with a win as well.
-
This could be a good battle as well.
-
And we don't like to see things like that. They do the sport no credit at all.
-
Great punch from 'Spike' though.
-
Great punch from 'Spike' though.
Absolutely perfect.
-
Beautiful punch to finish Macklin.
-
Beautiful punch to finish Macklin.
Yup, that's the end of Macklin...enjoyable scrap though.
-
It was a bit too one-sided to be enjoyable, and I won't make the predictable 'the Nose lost' jibe.
-
Matt Macklin looked spent after about five rounds and was on the receiving end of a brutal finish. Not sure where he goes from here.
-
Oh yes and I would have thought someone at SKY would have realised by now that less is definitely more when it comes to Tony Bellew.
-
I know it is the usual BS that you get when Sky are trying to flog a PPV fight but Bellew & Cleverley just seems overhype for two average fighters...or am I missing something?? Suppose the averageness might make it a decent tear-up
Plus, Bellew just looks like a bloke built of a lego with a brain from the local village idiot.
-
Quigg's looking solid if unspectacular so far.
-
He is. Not taking chances.
-
It must be difficult when you're a world champion to get yourself up for a fight halfway down the bill.
-
True.
-
How many more fights are there ...........Have I missed DeGale, Groves or Johua I know I have not missed the main event ??
-

Plus Manny for a really late night.
-
Ohtake put up a decent show.
-
You don't see many fat Mexicans in the ring.
-
Good punches by DeGale
-
Groves isn't the cleverest of fighters.Momma's Boy is leading with his head.Groves should be on his bike picking him off.
-
He did the job, but not an impressive night's work.
-
Can't wait for the interview.
-
That is one bad nose.
-
That is one bad nose.
Colin Tattum?

Very good.

Nick cave on the boxing wtf!

Joshua ringwalk 2 minutes 15 seconds. Will the fight last that long?
-
Joshua ringwalk 2 minutes 15 seconds. Will the fight last that long?
No.
-
Why is he still fighting boxers like that. There is no need for him to be a filler for Eddie Hearn's promotions.
-
I fucking hate the z cars theme.Cleverly in round 6 I hope.
-
I fucking hate the z cars theme.Cleverly in round 6 I hope.
As someone said about Bono, "When you're even hated in your home town."
-
Cleverley in 9 hopefully
-
Oh fucking my ears and the dog hates it as well.
-
Fuck's sake is this the 12" disco remix?
-
I can see Bellew blowing from round 6 onwards.
-
Jim Watt doesn't like Bellew does he?
-
Listening on 5 live. No idea how it's going.
-
Listening on 5 live. No idea how it's going.
It's a bit of a mess no score draw.
-
Was going to pay but there's nothing riding on it.
Woodhall (R) saying that Bellew needs to move his head more.
Saying Cleverley jabs working and Bellew tiring but evens.
0-0
-
Woodhall (D) is glad he's not paid for this card.
-

same here it was never a box office card.

It's like watching 2 drunks fighting over the last cigarette.
-
Woodhall (D) is glad he's not paid for this card.
same here it was never a box office card.
Eddie Hearn can never work out that six average fights won't attract six times the audience.
-
Terry O'connor again.
-
Not a good fight that. Cleverly not a cruiserweight and Bellew nowhere near top class. Both talking about selling the Millennium Stadium out for a third fight is borderline delusional. Could have sworn I saw Craig Gardner with Bellew in the post fight footage.
-
Thing is though, Sky will hype it and they will probably get quite few purchases. It's the sort of card that would have made Friday Fight Night worth watching but really it was underwhelming.
-
There might be a corporate lounge holding 200 at the Millennium they could sell out.
-
Should be a good of boxing.
-
Not sure how Gary Sykes got through that first round.....plucky or what.
-
Good fight so far.
-
Sykes finally wins a round...6th
-
Already it's a lot better than the ppv last week.
-
Very good fight.
-
Andrew Robinson up now....i had no idea the lad was from Redditch....got my support now ....gonna be hard against Frank Buglioni though....got the local support as well.
-
He's a bit outclassed though.
-
Yes i agree the knock down in 7th sealed it not offering much now. Buglioni though i would say wont do a great deal on the world stage let alone european.
-
Frankie Gavin up now
-
I suppose Gavin will be Keeping Right On.
-
That was friggin tight....i wasn't sure maybe Frankie by a round but a bit wider than that...116-112,116-113,116-113
-
I suppose Gavin will be Keeping Right On.
Looked laboured again, but got a win. Really looking forward to Saunders v Eubank Jr.
-
Six years into his pro career and he's just scraping past British level fighters.
-
Six years into his pro career and he's just scraping past British level fighters.
yep.
-
Closer than I thought
-
Didn't think it deserved a split....it was close but for me Billy Joe by 2
-
At least 2. Eubank mark 2 doesn't like punching like his father.
-
I'd love del boy to win this one but i just cant see it happening.
-
Didn't think it deserved a split....it was close but for me Billy Joe by 2
Eubank Jr. just didn't do enough in the early rounds.

Chisora really is poor.

Gave up on it after six rounds. Really poor fare.

Sounds like a very good performance from Khan.
