One of the best awaydays I can remember!
-
Not very often 3 debutants score in the same game.
-
I miss the trips to Sheffield, with Wednesday and United yo-yoing between divisions. That Wards Bitter was a real treat in those days. There was an old saying, something like: When the bottom falls out of your world, drink Wards and the world will fall out of your bottom. (Change the brewery name at will).

A brilliant day out. I loved coming away from a ground after games like that, buzzing, hoarse throated and feeling mental.
-
We usually drove to away games but I'm pretty sure we got the coach to this one. Fantastic atmosphere. We all went to the local when we got back to the Midlands and each of us had a brandy and a cigar in honour of Big Ron. As far as league games go this would probably be in my top three away days along with Everton and Swindon.
-
Marvelous day out. Got back as far as derby, woke up in someones front garden.
As I say, marvelous.
-
A brilliant day out I really enjoyed it happy days.
-
Having 3 debutants scoring in one match must be a record?
-
We might have come close to the top flight record for fielding debutants too. Was it six or seven? Although there was that year in the early eighties when the whole Coventry side were out of contract and had to be replaced. And Ian Holloway's transfer policy at Blackpool and Palace which made Barry Fry seem restrained.
-
As I didn't go to Everton a couple of seasons earlier, probably my best ever awayday.
-
Up there with my best Villa memories. One question, where was McGrath that day?

Didn't McGrath or Mountfield play at right back that day?
-

Oh yes, so he was. It was seeing Mountfield that confused me. He must have been the one at right back.
-
I think that might have been Mountfield's last game for the club.
