Happy birthday, Gary and give my regards to Eric.
Gary shares a birthday with the late Edwin Starr.
-
One of my favourite Villa players of all time whose career finished too soon because of injury - Keith Leonard being another
Happy Birthday Gary - thanks for the memories
Happy birthday to the late great Edwin Starr - Tamworth legend. "Running back and forth " on his War album is a boss track

Happy birthday Gary thanks for the memories of that wonderful journey we all went on ending in Rotterdam.

Happy Birthday 8)
Wish I was born and in my 20's at the time of our European Cup win. Sad to know I'll never see us win it in my life time.
-
Happy Birthday to the great man, i say this every year, but he's the reason why i support Villa.
-
Happy birthday Gary. May you have many more and us 50 something's must be grateful for glorious 10 years of Villa from 72 to 82.

I still have my home made Gary Shaw scrap book :) in fact i just dug it out, oh the memories, i really did have a blessed childhood, 80/81 & then Rotterdam as an 8yo.
Reading the random stories thread, it makes me realise my Dad must have loved taking me down BH so much! I must get the old family albums off my parents, loads of pics with the team. Also found my autograph book from those days. Thanks for such memories!

Name a harder working Villa striker since Gary's knees gave out. I can only think of Dean Saunders.
-
Met Gary a couple of times in Brum, such a lovely bloke, very chatty and down to earth.
-
Wow, my teenage hero 53, must make me quite old now too.........
Still my favourite all time Villa player and I strongly suspect he always will be.
-
Happy birthday Gary

Shaw true legend and was the top European player of the season in European cup matches when villa won 26th may !
Castle Bromwich finest

Great player, great touch, great footballer.Don't think we appreciated at the time how good a player he was.Shame about his knees, but watching videos , he did turn players a lot.His turn and lay off for Morley for goal of the season, was sublime.
-
Still rankles with me how he couldn't get into the England World Cup squad in 82 ahead of Paul Mariner, Tony Woodcock and a crocked Kevin Keegan.

May I just say, as a Castle Bromwich denizen from my formative years... Go Gary!!!!

Gary Shaw was my boyhood hero along with Tony Morley. Mr. Woodhall arranged for him to come over whilst I was selling H&V and say hello. I turned into a gibbering wreck and must have come across as an incoherent simpleton. I just did not know what to say to him. Thanks again though Dave, it made my day.

I spent a few early years in Kinghurst before moving to classy Chelmsley Wood, now known as Smiths Wood I believe
