How many have seen this?

never offside!

They didn't include Gary Shaw missing a sitter at the end. That film is a piece of art
-
Say what you like about those there communists, but the Iron Curtain didn't half create some intimidating away fixtures.
-
Great find, thanks for that.
-
The intro barely looks post WWII, never mind 1982.

I was thinking to myself that it must be the only European tie in history where the first leg was played in the fifties and the return leg in the eighties.

If you turned the sound down you'd think it was a 50's clip from Pathe News.
Great find.

Remember listening to that at work in the afternoon on Tony Butlers show, with George Gavin providing live updates. Get yer prayer mats out, and pray for the Villa!. (Land of Hope and Glory playing in the background). Bought a lump to the throat!.

Did it kick off late afternoon our time? I seem to remember listening to it on the radio after coming home from school. I also remember all the fuss in the weeks leading up to it regarding where the game would be played.

I was at that match. Flew out there with the team snd the press. The whole trip was a great experience. Armed forces surrounded the whole pitch. We had more of them around us but they were just interested in getting badges off us. When our coach took us to the ground, the escorting Police forced other cars into the ditch to let us get through. Some very strange people following us about. One of them was dressed like an officer in the hotel then turned up selling burgers in the botanical gardens. On the trip there, they made a toilet stop. It looked like an Aintree Iron but inside it was very different! A circular arrangement of stinking toilet pans with no doors and covered in shit.

Dave, I'd love you to tell a story like that here!

Could do, Chris. There was one bloke who got there by train. Not bad considering we weren't sure where the game was going to be played. We may well have had to go to Tashkent.

Problem is that I can't remember much, although pubs visited are logged.

That's the book Jon, A football supporters guide to decent pubs near football grounds around the world.
