Well? How many will we get?
Sunderland (H)
Southampton (A)
Fulham (A)
Man U (H)
Stoke (A)
It only let me have 5 poll options. I've gone for 10+ (10 specifically).
-
Sunderland (H) 3 points
Southampton (A) 0 points
Fulham (A) 1 point
Man U (H) 1 point
Stoke (A) 3 points
-
Sunderland (H) 3 points
Southampton (A) 1 points
Fulham (A) 3 point
Man U (H) 0 point
Stoke (A) 3 points
-
Sunderland 3-1 win
Southampton 0-2 defeat
Fulham. 2-1 win
Man utd. 1-2 defeat
Stoke 0-0 draw
7 points putting on a healthy 22 from 17 games and on target for 50 points and a top 10 finish.
-
I would take seven points also. It would represent a good return.
-
Sunderland (H) 3 points
Southampton (A) 1 points
Fulham (A) 3 point
Man U (H) 0 point
Stoke (A) 1 point
-
3/1/3/0/1. I fully agree sir. 2-1, 1-1, 0-1, 1-2, 2-2.

WDWDD
I think.

Sunderland (H) 3 points
Southampton (A) 0 points

Beat Sunderland
Draw at Soton
Lose at Fulham
Lose to Man Utd
Beat Stoke
7 points I reckon.
Most would probably expect the Fulham/Soton results to switch. Just an incling I have that we will play well at Soton but for some reason slip up at lowly Fulham.

7 points. WLDLW. Quite symmetrical too.

Sunderland (H) Win
Southampton (A) Defeat
Fulham (A) Draw

Stoke (A) Win

Whether they're in poor form or not Man Utd love Villa Park and that will play a big part psychologically. We aren't that consistent and Southampton/Stoke will put us under pressure in those games I reckon. Who knows with Fulham?
-
I'm just hoping Fulham don't sack Jol just before we play them
-
Sunderland (H) Win 2-0
Southampton (A) Draw 2-2
Fulham (A) Draw 0-0
Man U (H) Win 14-0
Stoke (A) Draw 0-0
So nine points. I accidentally voted 10+ though as I counted incorrectly.
-
Win, Loss, Draw, Loss, Win I reckon. 7 points, and looking in a hell of a stronger position than we did at the same point last season, fingers crossed.
-
Can see this happening. I'm surprised Jol has lasted after their recent results but they have West Ham away nest and I can't see him remaining in charge if they lose that.Pretty sure a couple of years ago they appointed Woy just before they played us and beat us.
Anyway....I'd be happy with 8 points from the next five, think that's realistic aswell and would set us up nicely for two back to back home games within 48 hours over xmas against Palace and Sunderland.
Sunderland and Fulham look the most obvious wins to me, Stoke looks a draw as even though we played well up there last season it still needed Lowton's worldie to get us back in the lead with 5 minutes left.
Southampton away will be very tough, they beat us twice last year and have improved significantly since then, I think we'll lose that or scrape a point.
Now Man. United....I have this weird feeling this is the year we beat them at VP, no idea why. That however is providing we have our full choice team available and they have a few out like they did at Cardiff e.g. vital players like RVP and Carrick don't miraculously recover the day before we play them.

Fuck 'em all. We're Villa.
-
On 31 December 2012 we had 18 points and a -24 goal difference.
We could / should /will reach 18 points on Saturday with a very attractive (in the winnable sense) set of fixtures to come between now and full time on New Years Day. 7 points from the next 5 and another 7 from the following 3 will set us up nicely for Tamworth at home in the FA Cup third round - 2014 is going to be our year.
-
I was going to go 7 with WDDDD, but I reckon 8. Beat Sunderland and then a win, a loss and two draws from the next four. But I'm not sticking my neck out to say what games will produce each of those results.
-
Sunderland (H) 1-1
Southampton (A) 2-1
Fulham (A) 0-2
Man U (H) 2-2
Stoke (A) 0-0
So I say 6 points.
-
6 points I think, with one win, three draws and a defeat.
-
I have a funny feeling that we might turn Man Ure over.

Deducted a point by the FA for Benteke ruining Chris Smalling again during the Man Utd game?

Expecting Fulham to dump Jol and have a new man in with new hope just in time for us.
Not sure I will live long enough to ever see us not lose at home to Man U

The way this season has been going results wise we'll get dicked by Sunderland and Fulham, produce a 5 all at Stoke and beat United and Southampton.
-
In the past 12 months we've lost only 4 away league games. Since THAT Chavski game we've lost only three. Arsenal, manure and chavski again.

0-0 2008/9.
Im sure we've had a 1-1 since then too.
-
We had 3 draws with them between 08-10 at VP.
I just have a weird feeling this is our season. Apart from last season's mauling Moyes had generally a poor record at VP down the years with Everton so hopefully that will lessen the psychological hold Man. United have over us on this ground.
-
Sunderland (H) win
Southampton (A) lose
Fulham (A) win
Man U (H) lose
Stoke (A) draw
7. And there'd be nowt wrong with that.
-
7-8 points would be a good return, not outstanding but would get us over 20 points.
I think the xmas period has worked out pretty good for us this year, two home games in 48 hours which is what you want rather than having to travel. Palace on boxing day really should be a win and then the Swansea game two days later. They've got Chelsea away on boxing day so I'd imagine Laudrup will rest a few for us but still a tough ask two away games in 48 hours. Then Sunderland away on NYD which is a very winnable fixture.
I'd like to think with 7 points from those 3 we'd be very close to 30 points on NYD which would probably put us in the top 10 and mean a very relaxing second half of the season for a change!

Funny how your memory plays tricks eh? You are right, and as soccerhq as reminded us we drew the following 2 seasons too. Should have remembered the 2-2 but I suppose that one felt like a defeat. If you are not sure how a 2-2 can feel like a defeat ask a baggie
-
Knowing villa we'll lose the games we shouldn't and win the games we shouldn't with a random 3-3 draw in amongst it all. Happy days.
-
So then, two down and four points gained.
3 games left of the 5 named in the OP.
Fulham (A)
Man U (H)
Stoke (A)
I'd have said 4 so far, but got the results the other way round (win vs Sunderland, draw vs Southampton).
I think we can win against Fulham but we have to go out all guns blazing and not let them score first then end up chasing the game like we do so often.
Man U, depends on their players and who is out but you get the feeling they might be there for the taking. We can't fail to win at home against them every year.
Stoke away, don't see anything to worry about. They are shit.
An optimistic two wins from those three games I reckon. Wouldn't like to say which ones we'll win.
-
Win, win, draw - 11 in total from the 5 games
-
I think we've Palace, Swans and Sunderland again after this triptych. I'd be delighted with three wins and a couple of draws which is more than possible.
-
We are heading into three games where the opposition are under more pressure than us to win. We need to take advantage of that.
-
whats happened to the bbc predictor. It seems to have gone
They dropped it when they re-vamped their website. Shame - I used to enjoy that
-
next 3 I think we should beat Fulham but I think we'll draw the next 2, which would be 9 points from the 5 which I'd be pretty happy with. I'd love a little run of wins here though and I don't think it's totally unrealistic to think we could win all 3 of them.

yeah, and 4 was even worse.
what's our next 5? Palace, Swansea then who? Should know but i is losin the will to live

Was waiting for this to get bumped :D
-
Palace h
Swansea h
Sunderland a
Arsenal h
Liverpool a
Our next 5.
I am going for 6 points. 2 wins, 3 defeats.
-
I'm going for 4 points. A win and a draw, which could come from any of the following five matches. Such is our season so far...
-
2 points.
-
2 points.
If it is, we will be bang in trouble by the end of it going into the home game with Albion at the end of Jan. That would be 22 played, 21 points. I certainly hope not.
-
5 points, think we'll nick a draw against Arsenal aswell as 4 points from the next two. Nowt at Anfield this season and given how Sunderland palyed at VP I have a feeling they'll beat us if Benteke and Vlaar are still missing.
Typical if we pick up at home our away form will go to pieces. I guess that's why we're mid table and staying there.
-
2 points.

I'm thinking point against Palace and Sunderland. Think we'll lose the other 3.
If we improve slightly, then I'd say the points become wins, and the Swansea game becomes a draw.
But the way we're playing at the moment I don't see where the next win comes from. If we were playing Palace away I'd fancy the win a bit more.
-
Which is why we have to change tactics at VP. I know we will be over-run through the middle, but Kozak and Gabby look a pair that could work together for me. Bacuna in front of Lowton to give him some support on the right, Albrighton in front of Luna to support him down the left and tell Gabby to drop into the middle without the ball. Delph and Westwood in the middle and at least try a different method of playing.
-
I wouldn't mind being rolled-over by Pool and the Arse if it mean three wins or even two and one draw from the three before.
Why is the return game with Sunderland so soon? Does the fixtures computer just like to have a laugh?
It's interesting that in Spain and Italy the sequence of games is linear - game 1 corresponds with game 20, game 19 with 38 etc.
-
5 points I think - Win and Draw from next two home matches and Draw at Sunderland - Arsenal and Scousers will turn us over...
-
Palace 1-1 draw
Swansea 1-2 defeat
Sunderland 0-2 defeat
Arsenal 0-3 defeat
Liverpool 0-3 defeat
Wish I hadn't bothered now :(
-
Palace 1-1 draw
Swansea 1-2 defeat
Sunderland 0-2 defeat
Arsenal 0-3 defeat
Liverpool 0-3 defeat

I'd say that was defeatist but given current form, sadly it's entirely possible.
It'd be bloody nice to beat Palace just to break the losing run though and shift us over 20 points. But every home game is a complete slog.
-
Palace 1-1 draw
Swansea 1-2 defeat
Sunderland 0-2 defeat
Arsenal 0-3 defeat
Liverpool 0-3 defeat
Wish I hadn't bothered now :(
Far too optimistic. We will never get the point against Palace.
We are unbelievably bad and the more I look back on our games this season, the more I think relegation is on the cards. Take away the extremely lucky results against Man City and Southampton and we'd be in a position that would still be false and not give the overall picture of how bad we are.

Christ that is about as bloody over the top as I have seen yet.
We may get relegated, but at the weekend Stoke were just as bad as us really, and Palace been awful this season even compared to us. We have been bad, but to suggest if we had 13 points we would be lucky, is very harsh.
-
Palace h 2-0 win
Swansea h. 1-1
Sunderland a 0-1 win
Arsenal h 3-0 defeat
Liverpool a. 4-1 defeat.
7points I think, going to be a nervous few months otherwise
-
Before the weekend I had predicted 6-7 from the next three - with one of those having now passed in dreary fashion, i'm less optimistic.
4-6 and I think we'll be lucky with that.

Harsh? Its entirely idiotic.
"Only the results where we lose count!!!!!"
If we'd lost all our games this season, then we would be bottom of the league.
-
I agree , it's not right to say we should be on 13 points as were lucky to beat city and saints- we have what we deserve to have at the end of the day .
We sure as hell deserved a result at Chelsea and have been unlucky on other occasions, our points tally reflects our season accurately at the moment but the concern is that we appear to be slipping on form and performance in recent games.

I don't think it is. Let's look at the results where we've won points this season:
Arsenal - play that games another 9 times and we lose them all
Norwich - although I didn't see this, from what I remember, we could've quite easily not won
Man City - play that game another 99 times and we would lose quite comfortably
Hull - again, didn't see it, but sounded awful
West Ham - see above
Cardiff - we were very poor and were only saved by a great moment from Bacuna, debatable whether we would've won it were it not for that outstanding free-kick
West Brom - should've been 4-0 at half-time, though admittedly we did do very well to come back in the second half
Sunderland - we were shit
Southampton - see Man City game
We are so poor it's embarrassing and I honestly think it's completely possible that we will not win another point going into February.
Unless...Lambert gets us playing how we were towards the end of last season, but that's not looking likely at the moment.
There's no hiding the fact that we are shockingly bad.
-

I also think we were good enough to take a point off Liverpool, but the games we've played ok is very, very few.
-
I think we'll get -10 points over the next five games. We'll enter administration because of Bowery's crippling wages, and then have to have a points deduction put in place which will send us down.

Frightening. Luis could hit double figures in that game if he's facing a left side of Baker and Luna.

The palace game is crucial for restoring confidence. If we don't beat palace I think we're in big trouble
-
The palace game is crucial for restoring confidence. If we don't beat palace I think we're in big trouble
I'd honestly rather the next two were an Away double header too. I'd fancy 2-4 points were that the case. I think Swansea will have a little too much nous for us. Palace we need an early goal to settle the nerves, but if they score first it could be a long evening. The last thing we want is to be huffing and puffing trying desperately to get a goal in any way possible other than cohesive passing.
-
Yes we are so poor at home, only plan seems to be 7 or 8 short square balls across the defence before somebody panics and hoofs it aimlessly into the air.
-

Our away form has dipped now so we need to start picking up points at VP.
Really we should be beating Palace, a poor poor team. If Gabby turns up then I reckon him and Kozak will be enough.
Swansea will be tricky but they'll come and attack and they're missing key players like Michu and Dyer. They're yet another one struggling with playing in Europe and then the prem with a moderate squad and Lambert is actually a bogey manager for them, he has a really good record against Swansea.
I have a feeling we'll lose at Sunderland given how well they did at VP but football usually doesn't work like that so you'd expect us to pick up at least a point.
5 points would steady the ship, it's not asking for miracles either against moderate opposition. People saying we won't get another point until Feb are just knee jerking. There are plenty of other poor teams in the league.
-
I predicted 5 from the last 5 games and we got 4, so not pessimistic but realistic. This is a lower table group of players lead by a inexperienced manager who doesn't look like he has much In his locker tactically. The next 5 games I see 1 win 2 draws 2 defeats. 24 pts from 22 games.

I thought we'd beat Palace today :(. Looks like even that was optimistic. When are those easier games again?
