Title: Crossing the M5 Jct 1 roundabout on foot
Post by: arnie66 on November 21, 2013, 11:24:56 PM
Hi guys - bit of advice needed.

I'm staying at the Park Inn West Brom Monday night - thought that it was a really simple walk to the ground however after checking on Google it seems that the hotel is the wrong side of the M5 jct 1 roundabout and there doesn't appear to be any pathways to use to get round it.

Does any one know the local geography ? is it possible to get across jct 1 on foot ?

cheers

Piece of piss. Walk up the bank at the back of the hotel, cross over the sliproads and it's five minutes walk.

Yep it's easy enough. You might want to avoid wearing colours if you're walking that way though.

Genuine question - is that even a thing in this country?  I know in the US you can get nicked for crossing the road not at a crossing place but I've never heard of it happening here.

We're Aston Villa, we cross where we want etc etc etc

The Police yelled at me in Seattle once for jaywalking across a street that they had already blocked off from traffic.

I was wearing a Villa shirt with the name of a former "Legend" on the back, so they called out "Stop Boateng" !!

Anyhow, regarding M5 Jct 1, it's only the entrance slip to the Northbound M5 that you'll have to worry about the exit slip Southbound is controlled by lights, so that'll be easy to get across.

Kraziest thread title since African Car Reverser imo.

Never fear, Paul McGrath will descend from the clouds before you leave the hotel and part the traffic for you with a wink of the eye and all manner of shirts and scarves will be festooned along the road to ensure you don't contaminate your feet with too much boing.

After this "how to cross the road" thread, stand by for "how to tie my shoe laces", and "how to open a tin of beans" threads.

What was that about, again!

Remember hilarity but not about what.

Excellent work, Dave. That was a very funny thread.

Almost to the level of the "transfer window in song" one we had a few years ago. Must be five years ago now.

My main recollection of that thread is sitting here with actual tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks several times over a period of days.

I wonder if that is the same thread where someone wrote a bizarre poem about Norwegian fjords, I can barely remember it but do recall laughing so much a little bit of wee came out.

No, he's still only halfway across :)
