Saturday 2.11.13 KO 3pm (Boleyn Ground)
0-2 away win
Benteke 2
Baker 76
-
Villa 4-1 win. Tommy Johnson to score a couple. Or Benteke.
-
Think this is a nailed on draw, West Ham don't score many and neither do we.
Plus we always seem to struggle to get a win down there. 1-1.
-
Villa 3-1 win
-
Tough scrap in the east end 1-1
-
Need a result here, since our home form is desperate these are the games we need to be winning.
-
I'm going for a 1-1 draw with Benteke scoring.
-
1-1. Neither team scores a lot. It'll be a tough old scrap too. I think we might get a bit bullied by West Ham, so I would hope Lambo will put Sylla in midfield with Delph just to give us more legs and a bit of power too.
Nolan for them. Benteke to rescue a point.
-
Missing this one unfortunately so we're bound to win and I've a sneaky feeling we will.
-
1-1 or even 0-0 or possibly 1-2.....no 1-1 is a very safe bet.
-
10 posts so far and none for defeat so who are the mystery posters who predicted defeat but didnt reveal themselves?
Come out, come out wherever you are ;)
-
2-0 West Ham. Downing twice.
-
1-1 draw
-
1-0 west ham
-
1-0 to them for me, they are in quite good form of late and will, I fear, just nick this one
-
2-1 to them
-
1-0 to us. Gabby scoring
-
Villa win. I still have a profoundly misplaced confidence in us winning every week. it will take a few more games to cure me of it :)
-
Can't see anything other than a win for the original Claret and Blues.
-
I think we will win this one. Early goals for a change, we will end up 3-1 winners. Benteke and Gabby amongst the goals.
-
There is no way we are going 4 games without scoring and our defence has been better. We played really well for an hour on Saturday and being away suits us more. 2-0 to us and a V sign to the porn peddlers in the directors box. Benteke to bully Collins until he cries like a baby.
-
Benteke will be angry about his missed pen and all round lack of usual high performance. 1-3 Benteke-Bacuna .......
-
1-1
-
We'll shit 'em. 3-1.
-
1-2 away win Benteke & Gabby, Nolan for them.
-
1-1
-
Howard Webb will be the referee and Villa will be wearing the green kit. Are those good omens?
-
must win, just to shut up the season ticket holders in my village......you'd think they were Barcelona the way they go on...
-
2-2 Benteke and Bacuna for us, Nolan and Can't Control for them
-
Howard Webb will be the referee and Villa will be wearing the green kit. Are those good omens?
I don't think we did too badly in that lime green kit last season. I don't think Howard Webb is that great a ref though.
-
We should be beating crap like this, they've only got two fit forwards. One has no teeth and one is Can't Control. So expect a draw snatched from the jaws of victory.
-

we lost at west ham in that kit last season...
-
Can't see anything other than a win for the original Claret and Blues.
Which teams that then?
Haha. I was tempted to leave it like that but I'm not sure the abuse would have been worth it.
1-5, I agree Benteke angry, Benteke score 3. Delph, and Tonev's first shot on target. Unbelievably 3 goals from the super driven floaty corner. Big head bemoaning his usually great asset of height.
-
I don't care how we play or how we win, I just want 3 points. I think we will play ok and win this one easily :)
-
1-1
please not Downing to score . NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
-
We're Aston Villa, we glow in the dark. A couple of Tommy Johnson-esque rattlers from Weimann would be most welcome - 18 years to the day (near enough) when we stuffed the Hammers down there in such sexy fashion.

There we 30 plus coaches parked on the Barking Road that day. We took a raft of support down there.
-
I honestly have no idea. Which Villa side will turn up? Saying that I definitely think potentially we have enough firepower to blow them away if everyone is on top form.
2-1 Villa the usual nervy last 5 mins or so.

@MatKendrick: Ag-ravating: Gabby Agbonlahor is a Villa injury doubt for West Ham game this weekend #avfc http://t.co/tYISnyDwaQ
-
Academy 2-3 Villa.
Late winner which Big Sam blames on a throw in which wasn't given correctly in the 56th minute. Or some other such feeble excuse.
I used to like Allardyce but after a decade he really has start to grate on me.

He won me over again after his maniacal sarcastic laughter at Chico Flores's dive against West Ham the other day. For a moment he wasn't big Sam anymore, he was Not Big Sam, his twitter alter ego.
-
1-2. Nolan for them, Benteke and Weimann for us.
-
that horrible scrote K.Nolan always seem to score vs the Villa....
-
2-0 West Ham. A struggle to break them down a goal near half time from a set piece and then another late on from a defensive lapse.
A draw would be a good result and give us something to build on heading to easier homer fixtures.

When I see the fixtures I reverse the home and away. Away is where I am more likely to expect points.

crap in last 2 games but was playing well before then especially away from home (Arsenal, Norwich, even Hull he was decent). If he is out I expect Weimann to play up near Benteke.
West Ham have lost last 3 at home and will be aiming to stop the rot more than anything. Suspect lambert will be thinking the same. cant see there being many goals.
Bennett is likely to come back in for Luna. Definitely need someone who is going to work hard protecting him as Downing will fancy his chances there. Id bring Sylla back in front of him, out of position but we dont have many alternatives. Think we have missed Lowton going forward a bit of late but Bacuna is much more solid at the back and to be fair has created decent chances for us on occasion. Would give Tonev another go on the right.
Id go for a Harry Bassett style 442
Guzan
Bacuna, Vlaar, Clark, Bennett
Tonev, Westwood, Delph, Sylla
Benteke, Weimann

I absolutely love it when one of our players is injured.
-
0-1 - Ray Stuart penalty 81 minutes.
-
@MatKendrick: Here we glow again: Villa digging out the green kit for old time's sake to avoid West Ham colour clash #avfc http://t.co/19IkVnQs7Z
-
I think we looked better going forward last season than this season so maybe the hideous lime kit might be a good omen. That said, as hideous as it is it's farking bootiful compared to this seasons away kit. It's like watching Blackburn on LSD.
-
3-1 defeat.
-
0-3, they're fucking having it on Saturday.
-
0-1 - Ray Stuart penalty 81 minutes.
Won by Goddard? Or Devonshire?
-
If our forwards were on form, I'd really fancy us to win this. Their main threat will come from set pieces and I wonder if that will influence the selection. For example baker at left back. He's not great on the ball there but that might be worth it away from home.
Gabby - away from home he'd always be in my villa side so I'm hoping he's fit. I have a feeling he won't be though.
Bacuna to take any penalties. I think benteke has put every single penalty for us to the keeper's right hasn't he?

Cracking stuff.

I think they're short on strikers because Can't Control went off injured for them in the week. It leaves them with just Ravel Morrison who hasn't done anything for the past few games.

Well, that's just guaranteed "Ravel" (as he prefers to call himself on his shirt) gets a hat-trick on Saturday. The only hope now is that it is as part of a 3-6 away win.

I noticed that. A sign of a player who thinks he's better than he is.

Club cutting back on shirt-printing costs.

How come Downing hasn't got 'Twat' on the back of his?
-
I think it is because he does not get on with his Dad (Morrison, not Downing.)
-
Is it because his dad bought him all those sweets that made him lose his teeth?
-
Doubtful - luna gabby Bennett .
Not good, no recognised Lb to mark downing.
-
Gabby /Luna /Bennet all out it seems
3-5-2 maybe Bacuna LWB ?
-
Time to get lowton back in.
-
Baker left back for me.
-
Hopefully our Sylla will finally get a run out. Maybe move Bacuna into midfield and drop Westwood and KEA, and even Weimann, things need to be freshened up a little.
-
Will be interesting to see if he goes with baker or Clark at left back- I'd go for baker .
-
Think it'l be baker at left back, played there more than Clark.
-
I would have liked Bennett to play this weekend, shame he's injured.
-
No thanks. Hamster-bollocks would rip him to pieces.
-
People seem to forget that Bennett was improving a lot towards the end of last year. I reckon any winger worth their salt would slaughter Baker or Clark at left back, so at least Bennett offers something going forward.
-

I agree, so play him in left midfield.
-
Have we ever played a team that's playing 4-6-0?
-
No but I remember us playing at the Dell once against a Southampton team consisting of 10 blokes with the surname Wallace and Matt Le Tissier
-
SHA must have played that once against us with TSM, it seems he did it enough times with us!
I assume Lowton can play left back given how versatile full backs usually are?
-
4-6-0 was a bit too gung-ho for TSM
-
Got draw written all over it, 2 teams that can't score.
So will end up being a 5 goal thriller no doubt!!!!
-
Don't like the sound of this as even a blind squirrel will.....
The Hammers are looking to avoid a fourth straight home Premier League defeat when they host Aston Villa on Saturday

Only a matter of time before it's UNRAVEL.
Dickhead!
0-2. Bentenke. Weimann.
Lovely trip home on the coach! :-)
-
A blow if gabby's out. I think I'd go:
Guzan - bacuna vlaar Clark baker - sylla Westwood Delph - Weimann benteke Tonev
Would like to rest Weimann ideally but can't see us doing that if gabby is out too
Interested in how we get Lowton back in the side. Think that involves bacuna moving into midfield - possibly on the right of a 4411. But west ham pack the midfield with plenty of physical players so I think we need three in there and I think it needs to include sylla. But I don't think sylla can play in the central holding role so think Westwood stays

As I have said numerous times I am sick of us giving teams on a bad run an easy ride. Same with strikers out of form/players making their debut. Crush them into the dirt Villa!!
-
Do them bigtime Villa and then go down The Wenlock Arms and celebrate and make sure the sham East End scum who have taken root there know I said they are sh*te!! Great pint always in the Wenners if you like real Real Ale. One too many loudmouf 'ammers though for my liking! and don't forget to remind them they nicked our colours!
-
1-1
-
for me it is:
Guzan
Vlarr
Baker
Clark
Westwood
Delph
Sylla
Bacuna
Tonev
Weimann
Benteke
and a Villa win please....2-1
-
Ray Stewart penalty, last minute and a totally unjust one at that. Never forget...
-
I wouldn't want to see a flat back 4 against these considering they have no standard forward, would see us outnumbered in Midfield.
-

The Hammers are looking to avoid a fourth straight home Premier League defeat when they host Aston Villa on Saturday
Mind you, you could spin it like this
"Aston Villa are looking to avoid a fourth straight league game without a goal when they travel to West Ham on Saturday"
-
This is gonna be horrendous to watch I suspect.
Remember how bad Villa v Reading was last season? Think it was when we beat them 1-0 at home. I think the best description I heard of the match from someone on here was something like "It looked like two worms having a scrap!"
I suspect we'll witness something similar.
-
0-1 - Ray Stuart penalty 81 minutes.
Won by Goddard? Or Devonshire?
Hmmm not sure on that one - anyone? I was only 10.
-
Well given this season's trend for mild improvement over last years equivalent fixtures, I'll go for the draw.
Probably 1-1.
Benteke to get the goal.
-
This:
Guzan; Vlaar, Clark; Baker; Bacuna, Westwood, Dylla, Delph, Tonev; Benteke, Weimann.
Or this:
Guzan; Bacuna, Vlaar, Clark, Lowton; Tonev, Westwood, Sylla, Delph; Weimann, Benteke.
Please. Assuming Gabby's injured. If fit, swap him for Weimann.
-
If they are playing 4-6-0 and we play counter attacking, surely it is going to be nought nought to quote Hugh Johns.
-
I would hope that we play Lowton at left-back, Baker is never suited to that position.
Any idea who the referee is for this one?
-
Referee: Howard Webb. Assistants: D Cann, S Massey. Fourth Official: K Hill.
-
Afternoon all.
This is an interesting one. A team with no fit, recognised striker - although we do have Petric and Maiga - against a team that performs best on the road when counter-attacking with pace. Will this be a world first at a professional football match with both teams trying to make the other team take the ball so that they can nick it back and break? There's an outside chance, it has to be said.
Realistically the 4-6-0 thing has been and gone. It was a stroke of genius by Allardyce at Shite Hart Lane against the Lillyshite filth, albeit one enforced on him, but coming out before the Citeh game and telling the world he'll keep it up his sleeve and wont play it every week, and then proceeding to play it every week, was about as predictable as his defending a shit performance with the "we had chances to win it" excuse because we won a couple of corners and one of them almost hit Winston Reid's head (if he was 9ft tall). So having said all that, don't be surprised if Allardyce perseveres with it for this match.
Nonetheless I have an inkling that Carlton Cole will start. Allardyce has stated that the midweek league cup game vs Burnley was the equivalent for him of a third pre-season game, which in Allardyce talk is an ingenius double bluff that surely no-one could ever possible construe as Can't Control starting up top in a 4-5-1. Be afraid Villa fans. Be very afraid.
Anyway, 4-5-1 is the correct way to go for me. You can't play counter attacking with no striker at home against a team that plays counter attacking. I suspect if we are 4-5-1 it will be
Jusskalineninenien
Demel...Tomkins...Reid...Rat
........Noble....Morrison........
Downing....Nolan....Diame
.................CCole................
It might be Joe Cole instead of Diame. Personally I'd go for Diame and bring Joe Cole on second half.
As to the result, I'm not sure. I don't think there'll be a lot in it. Truth be told, neither side are great at the moment. West Ham will keep it tight at the back and in midfield and will probably concentrate on set pieces against a Villa side that will probably sit back a bit more.
I'm going to 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' for a 1-0 win. I'm not really sure who to, so I'll stick my neck out and say the home side. In any case, we need a win in this one. You have to beat the teams around you, as Allardyce likes to say, so West Ham need to be beating Villa at home.
-
Ken McNaught needs to keep his hands down when defending their crosses into the box
-
I think Petric is injured Sendo and Carlton Cole isn't up to speed fitness wise.
Thanks Leeg.
-
Mercifully we're away from home so I'm going for a 2-1 win.
Make it happen, Villa!
-
"Villa have conceded the opening goal in seven of their Premier League fixtures this season, more than any other side.
They have only taken one point from the last three matches and failed to score in that time.
Paul Lambert has won more away league games (seven) as manager of Aston Villa than he has at Villa Park (six).
Christian Benteke has missed two penalties this season. There have only been six penalties missed in total in the top flight this term."
We pay a TV licence fee for depressing summaries like that.
-
Villa win for me, Fat Sam said they have loads of injuries and we play on the counter so I'm going for a tight 2-1
-
Sendo, I thought Sam had declined to re-sign Cole?
-
Hoping Baker is in central defence, cancel them out a bit from set pieces.
-
I would hope that we play Lowton at left-back, Baker is never suited to that position.
Any idea who the referee is for this one?
I heard that Lowton isn't playing because he and Lambert had a falling out, I think he's girlfriend had a baby and they have moved back to Sheffield which has caused a rift as Lambert likes players to live in a 30 mile radius, anyone else heard anything similar?
-
I'm on a roll at the moment having predicted correctly the last three Villa results but this game really confuses me. I'd imagine we'll go again playing an open game which will suit West Ham, especially their midfield who are not only tough but can play a bit. The have a pretty solid defence so if Gabby doesn't play, they'll manage to double up on Benteke and keep him frustrated, not that our own players can't do that without any help.
Saying that, despite all the moaning about the Everton game, we certainly matched them and created far more chances for the first hour. Admittedly, we fell apart after the second goal but it's worth reminding ourselves that the first Everton goal was completely against the run of play. There are signs that we're slowly moulding ourselves into a very decent side but without any true leadership on the pitch, when confidence goes, it drops like a stone.
I'm hoping Sylla will be included as we'll need a real battler to get in the faces of the West Ham midfield but despite doing a decent job on the right, I'm still not convinced with Tonev. He reminds me of Tony Morley when we first signed him from Burnley. Great with the ball at his feet and bringing it forward but absolutely no end product. The less said about his shooting the better. Hopefully with time, like Morley, he can develop his game but we really can't afford the luxury of carrying passengers.
I'm going for a 2-1 defeat with goals from a corner and a late penalty. I really hope I'm wrong but just feel we'll get bullied again.
-
Nice to hear from Sendo after so long, hope you are well mate. I agree with you, reluctantly, in that I think West Ham may just sneak a 1-0 win
-
I heard that Lowton isn't playing because he and Lambert had a falling out, I think he's girlfriend had a baby and they have moved back to Sheffield which has caused a rift as Lambert likes players to live in a 30 mile radius, anyone else heard anything similar?
I heard that Lowton has been really poor whenever he played at right-back this season, and Bacuna has been good enough to be nigh-on undroppable. Crazy far fetched stuff, I know.
-
I heard that Lowton has got a tattoo stating 'Bacuna sucks' across his backside and is in a platonic relationship with Joe Bennett which Paul is not happy about as he thinks Vlaar would make him much happier.
-
Afternoon all.

Good luck Sendo as you will need it. Let me know where you sit I will wave at you when Benteke scores!
-
Sendo's return to these shores is very welcome.
-
Sendo is great.
-
Speaking of Sendo, I've just been on his KUMB forum and I pray this Hammer is right:
Stewart Downing will win it for us if anyone can.
I'm feeling a lot more confident now than I was earlier today.
-
We're on a roll. Another defeat I'm afraid although hopefully not too severe.
-
Probably 1-0 to Wet Spam but i will stick my neck out and say 1-1
-
I feel terrible now mainly due to paying thru the nose for everything down in Smoke tonight however I will feel much better after the win tomorrow.
-
We're on a roll. Another defeat I'm afraid although hopefully not too severe.
Arse....
-
2-0 defeat. Nothing going our way at the moment and I can't see it changing in East London.

Bollox!
-
Change by PL tomorrow. Weimann and Benteke playing as a front two.
Those who have seen my posts before will know I'm an ITK fucker.
-
Think we will be pleasantly surprised tomorrow. All the pressure is on them.
-
Trying really hard to be positive. We need at least two of our forward players to really turn up tomorrow. Hope Sylla replaces Westwood and PL lets Delph push forward in front of Sylla and Al Hamidi 0-1 .......
-
0-6 Tonev & Weimann both with hattricks.
-
Just about to head off for the game now, come on you lions!!!!!
-
It feels strange not to be sitting on a coach on an away match day and I can see us winning as well. 3-1 with Tonev scoring one of them.
-

Wouldn't that be lovely - this could be either way today - really tough to call , lets hope we burst their bubble.
-
I do love a 'local' away day. Feeling positive, 2-1 Villa, Big Sam's shear tactical genius for them and a Benteke penalty and Delph screamer from 30 yards for us... Both are overdue surely? Where are folks heading for a pre match pint today?

Cant control beat Ron Vlaar up a stick in the same game last season to be fair.
I cant see too many taking up the 6/5 on the home side. Villa seem reasonable value at better than 5/2. Villa are a much better side away from home but Id want to see Lambert's selection first before parting with a few quid
-
Looking forward to this one. The start of the easier games. I'll be a tad devastated if we don't get something.
-
C'mon on DV!! Hammer them 'ammers!
-
Best of luck today lads, lets see a nice comfortable win to get us (re)started.

Gone for a 4-2 away win, odds are well over 100-1 for only a 60p bet. Just fancy we might score a few today and let the obligatory couple in at the other end.
-
A tube train has also derailed causing problems.
-
Was going to predict a draw but fuck it I am now going for a 3-1 Villa win, the beast to get 2 with Delph getting the other, once that first league goal goes in more will quickly follow for Fabian, c'mon Villa.
-
COME ON YOU LIONS!!!!!
-
Would love a midfielder to actually score today, plus us to win.

Just saying what I was told

Midfield solid defence great..the rest shite. Benteke needs more service.
