Mark (better known as K.P. from King Pleasure & the Biscuit Boys) and Dave Woodhall have finally got round to what they've talked about for ages, namely setting up a regular night out for like-minded folk who enjoy good music, decent beer and convivial company.
They've found the Rose Villa Tavern, Warstone Lane in the Jewellery Quarter to be a pub with quality beer, decent food and a good atmosphere. It has an upstairs room perfect for small gigs and it's outside the city centre but convenient for bus, metro and train, with good on-street car parking.
They will be promoting shows on the second Friday of every month, starting October 11th with a highly-recommended band, Greenway.
The door price will be £5; unusually for Dave he won't be looking to make money out of this but he does need to pay the bands. And it's not much for what's going to be a great night out.
If this sounds your sort of thing, tell everyone you know and drag them along.
7pm.

Moved to HD temporarily to see if any further interest can be generated.

Good idea and will be interested in future but not here for this one.

A combination of beer, H&V denizens and a popular beat combo. Who could resist?
Clearing my diary for the Friday afternoon to travel.
-
I'd love to meet LouzieO - so I'll make the effort!
-
I've already made my apologies, i'm away next weekend.

Always wanted to see Greenday live ... ohhh, damn!

Myself and Mrs S are coming home next week for a few days and I would love to get away for this but, the problem is we're coming for our granddaughter's first birthday and, it just so happens that her birthday is on the eleventh! I'll try and make it but it could mean a spell in the doghouse!

I obviously have to be there to meet you both!

Well couple of glasses of Babycham can't be that expensive?

Dave S - Am in the Peak District that Friday to Monday. We dont play after all and it is my birthday...
How long are you over for and when do you arrive? It would be nice to catch up if you can find the time.
You would also get to meet the present Mrs Stu and my lad as a Brucie Bonus...
-
Me and Mrs C are going if that doesn't put too many others off.

CL, we're coming over next Tuesday and going back a week later. There's lots going on but I'll try and get to meet up, I'd like that. I'll pm you when things are a bit clearer.
-
Cool with me mate. Lets see what we can organise.
-
Who else do we have to look out for then?
-
Is there a secret knock to get in?
-
Time's moving on so this is another blatant plug. Who's coming?
-
Unfortunately not this time around, hopefully the next one
-
I think I can make it, what's it like for parking around there these days? What's a good time to arrive, don't wish to be sitting on my own waiting?

Plenty of on-street parking and it's free. Band starts nine-ish, bar's until at least one.
-
Ta. Looking forward to it.
-
I will likely be in Brum for a stag-do on the second friday of November. If it's on then, I might try to get the group to come along if they're not too lubricated and rowdy.

Why not, the band will be.

With Louzie0 there anything's possible.

I'm going with 4, 5 or 6 of us. At lease one of which will be a Peaky Blinder. I hope there's ample spittoons to cater for the party.

And one will be a celebrity Villa fan.

I'm going too, sorry.

I'm going too, sorry.
And your good lady?
-
Yes. So I will have to behave...
-
This sounds fun, i hope it's still happening when I move back in a few months. Have fun everyone who attends. I like the fact that the first event means you can all avoid watching England together!
-
I'm out as I have a stinking cold. Which is a bit of a sod as I was looking forward to it.
-
And remember, everyone who's coming. This isn't just an H&V night, there will be normal people in attendance so no going up to strangers and asking what their name is online.
-
Okay, dave.woodhall.
-
I hope to be leaving here within the next half hour or so.
-
you haven't even introduced yourself!
-
The band are still playing.
-
So?
how was it?
-
Excellent!
Thanks, Dave for organising.
What a lovely venue, as well, and lovely to meet some H&Vers other than at VP!
-
Were there other *shudders* people there?
-
What was the average drink drunk/age of punter/attire worn?

Mike & I enjoyed ourselves and it was great to meet LouzieO & DaveShelley. Sadly I am working today & it is never quite the same doing a Friday night out with the brakes on - especially when you start drinking at 5.30! Had to leave earlier than I would have liked.
Will definitely do this again, but may start a little later, and hopefully it'll be a Friday when I can have a lie in on Saturday
-
A great night, well worth it. Many thanks to Dave & Mrs Woodhall for their efforts, also too anyone else involved in organising this.
It's always nice to put names to faces. Louzie0, you're great company, thank you.
Bren'd introduced me to a man that has roots in Mrs S's home place not too far from where we currently live. When I told her this morning who it was she was amazed and then went on to tell me that there is a distant relationship between their respective families. It's a small world.
To everyone that I spoke to last night, it really was my pleasure to meet you all.
-
Had to bail out slightly early as our son managed to trip all the electricity in the house and had no idea how to turn everything back on!
Nice to meet Louzie and Dave S.
-
Sorry I missed this but I've got a big family do tonight and I'm too much of a boring old fart these days to manage successive nights out without a week at a top peoples health farm to recover.

'Nick Lowe'
Message for Dave S!
What a great night.
So good to meet Amfy, CD, Plumbutt, mike Jeffries, Jane, Stu, BrenD, DaveS, DaveW, Ian and their very significant others. Huge apologies to anybody I said hello to and have not included.
Great band, the singer reminded me of Marty Balin and it was like hearing the highlights of the vinyl collection, so well done DW.
Really looking forward to the next one as the pub was lovely as well. Rock on.
A resounding cheer for Decent Exposure!
-
Thanks to everyone who came, and who will be coming next time. It's the same venue, Rose Villa Tavern, on 8th November. This is the band we've got booked www.theenthused.co.uk/original-material/

Did that come into your head at four in the morning like I said it would Louzie0? Anyway, you got it before I did!
-
It was nice to meet everyone! Hopefully I'll be at the next one but may not depending on what day my Dad decides to celebrate his 60th on.
