A brace from Kevin Gage! Think this game was around Christmas time wasn't it. One of the earliest matches I can recall going to.
-
Remember Kevin Gage's screamer in that game - great strike. If I remember correctly the away game that season was not as clever.

Oh I don't know, I went to that game at Carrow Road and came away with a useful 2-2, coming back from 2 down against a team from near the top of the league when we were struggling.
-
For some reason I seem to recall Andy Townsend swallowing his tongue in a collision in this game.
-
Gage was having a good season after moving to midfield. I seem to remember him scoring a good goal at the sty in the cup. Then he got injured around Feb/March time and was out for the rest of the season I think.
-
This was a bit of a shock result as Norwich were heading the table until Christmas that season. Shame there was only 19,000 odd there as it was one of the better games of that season. I was still a school kid but had graduated from the railings
at the side of the Holte to the back and it was kicking that afternoon.

Was that the game a week after Hillsborough? If so my random memories from that day are:
- it took forever to get there!
- it was bloody hot
- the minute's silence being observed impeccably
- being right up against the Norwich fans on the terrace with only a fence separating us
- lots of sheep noises from the Villa fans.
-
This was defintely in late 1988, so a few months before Hillsborough and it was cold. Me and the old fella were sat in the North Stand upper for this right behind Gage's first goal, we knew it was in the moment it left his boot.

Must have been a different game at Carrow Road I was thinking of then. I just seem to remember it around that time being a place I never fancied us getting anything from.
-
After this game I was in town with a mate when a bloke came up to us in a car saying he was from London and just done his boss over and whether we wanted to buy anything. he then showed us a front seat full of jewellery.

Blimey this game has become more iconic by the post.
