Could have been better really.
-
A bit shitty really. Ah well, have to beat who is in front of you, and would prefer Spurs in round 3 than the semi.
-
Tough but rather play them here than at WHL.
Will be a good crowd if ticket prices are pitch appropriately.
-
A good tie. We'll be well up for it, not sure how many of their on paper huge signings will be. They ave Europa league too.
Benteke to beat then up this time.
-
Tough draw . At least we're at home.
-
Very tough but it's the cup and could go either way!
-
They'll be Baleless. We're favourites. We will win.
-
Villa v Rotherham and Spurs. 2 previous league cup final opponents of ours. Could be Blues next....

Beating Leeds and Everton en route to the final...
-
Fuck em, they may as just give us the cup
-
Benteke will send them home with their arses in their hands.
-
I remember a great league cup game versus Spurs when we were in the second division in 87. Great night we won 2-1....
-
Better them than a top team. Also they have lost their best player so we have a good shot.
-
We also beat them in 93/94 on our way to victory.
-
It's a bad draw for Spurs.
-
I'd have liked an easier game but we're capable of beating them.
-
And I am on chuffing holiday the week of the game.
Should be a good night that. Live on TV and a proper cup tie.
-

Good man.
-
Another piss easy draw for Chelsea grrrr
-
Not many teams have a good draw. Odd how it came out. Sunderland and Southampton can be chuffed, but not many others.
-
So an average team at home....no worries.
Their foreign legion will regard League cup as beneath them and we will be ready.
-
I'd have liked an easier game but we're capable of beating them.
We won tough cup games last year and lost easy ones.
-
London's selling club, bring it on.
-

The night I became a villa fan, my first game. :)
-
With the Bitters at home to Arsenal i'm assuming WMP will stick us 2 on separate nights. So Bitters & small heath on Tues and us on Weds?
-

What do you mean 'you became a Villa fan"? Everyone is born a Villa fan however many lose their way due to unfortunate events such as wrong parents, wrong town and very bad influence.

Agree except for Luton fans, who inhabit a parallel universe.

Lol, was not into football at all, until that night.
Old man is a wolves fan, brought up and lived near he baggies ground and spent all my teenage years playing basketball.
Got a free ticket from a mate at Skool, ended up in the holte end, went to every home game for the next 6 years after that night.
Unfortunately I'm not like my dad, who did not force the black and gold onto me, my son had no choice, claret and blue blood from day 1 of his life. UTV

That's what I call responsible parenting! Well done.
-
Spurs and League Cup ? I'm still pissed off with Martin Chivers.
-
Sounds like a tough draw, but with them in the Europa and chasing top 4 it might not be a bad draw for us with them hopefully resting a few.
-
Does anyone know what sort of teams AVB was putting out in this competition last season? Or while he was at Chelsea for that matter?
-
We'll shit 'em
-
They have a big squad now too, this is their best chance to win a trophy I think. And they'll do some more business as soon as the Bale saga is over. Worried about this game
-
We could have got a better draw but you can only beat the teams in front of you fingers crossed we beat Spurs in the next round.
-

On the other side of the coin it gave SGT's newly assembled team and the fans an early boost in the promotion season.
-
I'm not sure why everyone apperas to fear the next round against Spurs, we ain't too shabby ourselves this season and are more than capable of beating them.
-
Correct. If we can deservedly beat Arsenal and give such a good account of ourselves against title favourites Chelsea then now is not the time to be shitting in our pants about Spurs.
-

Last season vs Carlisle: Cudicini, Vertonghen, Dawson, Caulker, Smith, Dempsey, Huddlestone, Sigurdsson, Falque, Townsend, R Mason
And away to Norwich in the next which which they lost
Lloris, Naughton, Dawson, Walker, Caulker, Dempsey, Bale, Sigurdsson, Falque, Livermore, Carroll
-
Nothing to fear
-
We've given all of Man City, Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool decent games in the last couple of years, we've been consistently shitter against Spurs than any other team.
Need to improve cos I hate those bastards.
They have Chelsea the weekend after so hopefully they'll rest a few.
-

Spurs and League Cup ? I'm still pissed off with Martin Chivers.
Big nosed cockney bastard, along with perryman who cleared Locheads shot off the line, I have spent the last 42 years (check my maths) hating the fuckers for ruining my childhood. It was the day I stopped believing in miracles.
Mind you I was 15 and should have grown up a lot earlier.

42 years, six months and two days!! Ruined my 13th birthday the next day; the only, very slight, consolation was that I got to touch the Cup as Perryman came down the steps from the Royal Box, as I was sitting in the 2nd row with my dad (God bless him), right next to the steps.
-
did we not say the same away to Man city last year
we can do these horrible f**kers

The week of my birth. Fuckers even ruined that. A pox on their house!

All this is making me feel very old. I was there a - rather immature-16 year old. And I'm now thinking about it as an only slightly less immature 59 year old who should now go to bed.
-
Fuck'em , we will win.
-
Well it's not on the telebox so I reckon it we be on the Wednesday.
-
A grudge match is it? Nice.
-
Well it's not on the telebox so I reckon it we be on the Wednesday.
Have they announced the TV games then?
-
Not that I can see. The United Liverpool game will be one I would think. So I would guess the other will be a PL team playing a team from a lower league.
-

If not on TV, it's the web then
-

Swindon v Chelsea Tuesday Red v Red on the Wednesday.
-
It's about time we got back to beating clubs like spurs.
-
Really hope this is on Wednesday so I can go!
-
Isn't this the round when BBC start showing live games?
-
Lets hope they price the game right, a bigger crowd would make for a proper good old fashioned cup tie atmosphere.
-
Isn't this the round when BBC start showing live games?
Not anymore.
-
Without Bale and with £100m of new players, interesting. Maybe Wenger is right and Spurs may struggle until they all get used to each other. I think we'll win this if we can become consistent by then.
-
Erm....... Nothing else to say really. It's just that this is my 1000th post and I wanted to celebrate it amongst friends.
Thank you for your indulgence.

I would like to say I have read everyone but that would be a lie. However I think your 1000th was by far the best ....

I think the police will have to be consulted about the scheduling of this one. WBA and Blues have also been drawn at home.
I'm looking forward to this one though. Spurs may have spent a lot of money but I think that we are a better team.

As Albion have Arsenal i'm assuming they and small heath will play Tues and we will play Weds.

Ah, yes. I didn't consider the Spurs and Arsenal fans!
-
We have nothing to fear. They can't even win at the Emirates.
None of their many new signings looked up to much.
-
Pretty sure its the Wednesday. Unfortunately the wife is in charge of holiday booking and seems to have scheduled one so I will miss Spurs in the cup and Man Citeh.
Once a decade she gets to do the organising and every sodding time....
-
Any ticket news ?

As Hansen might say " That's a schoolboy error" on your part CL.

Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur - Capital One Cup 3rd Round
The above match will be played on Tuesday 24th September at Villa Park with a 7.45 pm kick-off.
-
not on the box. sky are showing swindon v chelsea and united v liverpool.
edit: hopefully the club reduce the prices and get a full house.
-
Surprised sky prefer swindon v Chelsea to a mouth watering affair between villa and spurs.
-
Newcastle v Leeds might have been a good one to put on as well.
If us not being on the tellybox get's a few more down there, then great.
-
If we beat spurs then the draw could open up, arsenal will put a weakened team at the Albion and could go and either liverpool or man utd will go too.

Hopefully tickets will go on sale tomorrow.
-
24th is great news. I would have missed the match if it was on 25th. We will smash them.
-
Well happy with that date. I'll be flying back to Toronto the following day with a Villa win to keep me happy for the 8 hours of the trip. Hopefully get a chance to meet one or two of you outside the ground or at The Barton's before or after.
-

Agree, Chelsea will batter Swindon.....not much chance of an upset there. Villa v Spurs could go either way.
-
If a we have a good chance of winning a tough game on paper, its always in the league cup.
-
Really difficult fixture, this.
However, that's what I said before Man City and Norwich away in this competition last season.
Which in turn makes the Bradford debacle even worse to think of.
-
Villa v Spurs could go either way.
No I don't see it that way. Difficult but only one outcome a Villa win.
-

£20 for a third round League Cup tie.
And just when I was running out of fresh reasons to hate spurs.....
-
I thought it might have been a little cheaper than £20 myself.

The Bradford games become even more unfathomable when you see how toss Bradford have been in every cup competition since they played us!
