Don't like them.
Having the match thread combined with the post-match thread means that if you are coming to H&V at this time of night, as I am, you are faced with a 86 page thread with no idea of where the post-match discussion is being held and I've now got to scroll through pages and pages of "Fuck, awful defending" " YEEEEEEESSSSSSS BEEEENNNTEEEKKKEEEEEE" and "Shine on Tony Moon" comments to find the start of the analysis of the game.
Please reconsider, keep the pre-match and actual match threads together if you must but can we please have a separate post-match analysis thread?
I know you have given a comment number to go to but it's not ideal, still got to keep going through the pages to find that comment.
-
I agree. It is alright saying Reply#993 but as there is no easy way to search for that or click it to take you directly there, it is pretty useless.
-
Click the three little dots which open up more page numbers, then you can jump straight to a page in the middle of thread and work out where you need to go after. Should take less than a minute to get to the post match stuff.
-
What Coops and Somniloquism said. When I logged on earlier this evening I had no interest in reading the last pre-match stuff or in match stuff and just wanted to read the post-match reaction but had to spend time clicking through the pages.

No lighty?
-
I was sat in Frankley Services for half an hour trying to find the final whistle.
The match thread is awesome while the game is being played but of no real interest afterwards.
Just my opinion, like.

ok Paddy
-
I prefer the pre/match/post threads. All in one was OK for the friendlies but not the season.
-
I'm with the fellas here. Not a big fan of the big combined thread.
-
Just have everything combined into one ginormous thread. Transfer speculation, match threads, the lot.
-
Yeah, maybe put pre-match with "in play" thread which makes sense and have a separate one for post-match. Has it not worked ok in the past?
My only gripe is that the post-match threads always seems to get shunted off the main Heroes Discussion page too early (a day or two after the game, when people are probably happy keep the post-mortem going up to a week afterwards if we don't have a game until then).

A quick lesson in the forum for people relating to the post numbers:
The last page of the match thread currently gives you an address of:
http://www.heroesandvillains.info/forumv3/index.php?topic=50336.1290
The important bit of the URL is the very end, which is highlighted in red.
I've put the thread id in italics, that's specific to the thread.
I've put the post id in bold - that effectively tells it which page to go to.
therefore to use the 993 that is in the title:
http://www.heroesandvillains.info/forumv3/index.php?topic=50336.993
tada!

Yes that's lovely, but just having a separate post-match thread would be much nicer!
-
It was worth a go but I really dislike them. They were implemented to try and tidy up the place but it's made things much less organised. Just seems to make more sense to return to the old system.

Now that I know this, I love the all in one thread idea.
Perhaps the thread starter could modify the 1st post in the thread with hyperlinks to the various post replies. i.e. "Match thread starts HERE" "Post Match discussion start HERE" etc.
EDIT - Just seen legion had already done what I suggested, although slightly more ambiguously.
-
I wonder can the requisite post numbers in the thread title be underlined too? Probably not as the entire thread title is underlined as it is when you hover over it.
-
Let me be the first to say, on the basis of its role in our win at the Arsenal, the 'all in one' match threads should be kept.
-
Bring back the old format! Combined, pshhh.

I tend to agree with that although its early days yet for the new system .

Which things in my everyday life are using up my waking hours and making me angry ?
Tearing off the plastic window of the envelope with junk mail before recycling it...Yes.
Answering the phone and getting in arguments with people from call centres...... Yes.
Drivng around car parks in shopping areas unable to find a place......................... Yes
Waiting for internet pages to appear with that little circular thing spinning........... Yes
Taking 30 seconds to open the fridge door because it seems to stick too much.....Yes
Standing with the front door open, the cat looks at you and doesnt just walk in....Yes
A few seconds finding a particular part of the All-in-One match thread................... No

I've changed my mind. Keep the all in ones.
-
I think you should delete the match talk after the game (between 3-4.45) and leave post for post match analyse. Just to save bandwidth.
-
In the original post (see Arsenal thread) there are two links. One takes you to just before kick-off the other takes you to full-time.
-

Totally unrealistic proposition. It would take ages.
-
Are you going to post the links at the beginning of the thread every game? It's a lot of commitment to do every game.
In my opinion though, you have made one of the best parts of the forum a lot more complicated.
When I'm out and about, I don't have my glasses with me all the time, so by the time I've faffed on with finding the post match part on my phone, I can't see. (Glasses wearers will understand)
Please reconsider this

All feedback is greatly welcomed and taken on board. System is currently under review.

It's all we ask!
Didn't realise there were links to the relevant parts mind, that does help.
-
I tend to dip in for a quick look at the post match thread and then, if I have time, look at it more fully the next day. Anythin that makes that more of a faff is going to deter me so I'll just go straight to the end. I suspect I won't be alone in that so we'll have the same point made multiple times and a less joined up discussion.
-
Looks like that it's going to be put down as a pre-season experiment which didn't work as well as we'd hoped, so back to the old way from now on.

Keep the combined Pre and match threads as that isn't too bad. Just seperate the post match part into a separate thread. But I actually vote for it to stay as is until we lose a match.
-
Agree with those that think the onesy threads are inconvenient, cumbersome, and an all-round poor show.

So Wednesday then?
I don't see this as a major issue, but if anything I'd go for the idea of a combined pre and match threads with a separate post match thread.
-
Back to original three threads.
-
Booooooooo
-
Back to original three threads.
Don't be like that! It can be two!!
-
Two threads good, three threads better.
-
Three are cleaner. Purer. Better.
-
Poll added.
-
Not a fan at all. I couldn't follow the game yesterday and now to catch up I'm going to need to figure where the match and post match threads start. Especially via BB it is pain in the nuts. After a win there is something very enjoyable about cracking open the post match thread and seeing the comments.
-
Again, look at the first post in the thread. There are two links there. One takes you to just before kick-off, the other to full-time.
-
So if we lose on wednesday, it might be because we reverted to old threads? Will we ever sleep again, lying in bed wondering what if....
-
Back to original three threads.
Lambert Out!

Maybe we should keep the combined whilst we are on a roll, and then go to the popular vote.
-

Yeh, that sounds like a lot of work
-
I think the all-in-one threads works for the pre-season friendlies but that with competitive games, the 3 separate threads work better.
I see some people are asking for a combined pre-match and match thread but then it's not as easy to find out what the team line-up is and you have to be able to differentiate from people saying what the team should be and what it actually is.
-
I hate change, me.
3 works better.
-

Good idea, lets just hold tight till Wednesday. Win it stays till due course, draw we go by vote, lose back to normal?
-
I'm all for the 3 separate threads, please change back
-
Keep post match separate please. I am OK with single for pre and match.
-
I was sat in Frankley Services for half an hour trying to find the final whistle.

Well, that is horrifying. Nobody should have to spend any time at Frankley Services.

Free the Match Thread 3

Depends though. Sometimes, when Legion is up to his oxters marking SATs and Dave is enjoying the delights of Bath some crafty beggar starts the match thread early on the day of the game and it becomes a continuation of the pre-match thread.
Sometimes, reading back over the match thread afterwards, especially when we lose, can provide some much needed relief. You think you've taken a defeat badly, then you go on there and see the reaction to us conceding - Risso et al demanding Bennett and Lambert's balls on a breadboard and you smugly realise that you do still have some semblance of sanity.
-
I'm with three separate threads party. After a long, tiring but wonderful day at the match yesterday I just couldn't face the 86 page thread. Like there's, I like to review the contemporaneous (I think that's the word) comments.
-
I don't mind either way although at least with three separate threads, you can choose which want you want to read.
-
How about trialing Pre- and Match thread with a separate post match thread?
-
In the original post (see Arsenal thread) there are two links. One takes you to just before kick-off the other takes you to full-time.
Yeah I suppose that could work.
-
If you go back to seperate threads then those of us in favour of all in one threads may protest by keeping our match and post match comments in the pre match thread, thus treating it as an all in one thread. Of course you could always lock the pre match threads and match threads as and when you start up the others but politically this will make you appear dictatorial.
-

Oxters. I think our northern friends use this word (for armpits) but don't know we don't.
Fabulous, though, I think we should. Much better.
-
If the H & V junta bully boys attempt to impose anything other than the old three separate threads then we should rise up in protest, each of us start multiple threads every match day until the old order is reinstated.
Posters of the Villa unite, you have nothing to lose but your chains.

I got it from my old fella, a Dubliner.
Will try it out on the King's Road tomorrow for the craic.

I'm with you all the way, Citizen Smith.

Frankley? You should have popped round mine, Damon!
I prefer seperate threads. If you are accessing through a mobile version on a less than fancy phone you are knackered for the different links.
-
Booom.!!! See who needs violence? Peaceful protests can work ha ha ;-)
