Post by: eric woolban woolban on August 04, 2013, 12:25:52 PM: My dad mentioned yesterday that he had a sports shop at Great Barr.

It was at the Scott Arms down from the pub. Where the cafe now is and before that fruity fruits.

I've never heard this before...is he correct?

Just round the corner there was Johnny Dixons hardware shop on the Birmingham Road. Dick Taylor the Villa manager until 1967 had a sports shop on Witton Road.

And Stan Lynn had a newsagents on the Birchfield Road and Bruce Rioch had a shop on Hawthorn Road selling guess what?
